Earthquakes that occurred before 1900 are mainly documented in historical records.Since 1950s, more recent earthquakes were documented in two major compilations of historical records finished in 1956 and 1983-1987. Separately this effort resulted in two chronicles: two volumes for the first one and five volumes for the second one. The magnitudes are converted from the maximum intensity. A compilation of databases from Cameroon and neighbouring countries,including seismicity,stress tensor distribution,gravity,magnetic,topography,lithosphere structure and geological data,is used to define its seismotec...A compilation of databases from Cameroon and neighbouring countries,including seismicity,stress tensor distribution,gravity,magnetic,topography,lithosphere structure and geological data,is used to define its seismotectonic zonation.Based on the quality and quantity of available data,a seismotectonic map was drawn up through the characterization of subunits of concentrations of earthquake foci and,large neotectonic and structural domains.To prepare this map,a homogeneous earthquake catalogue was compiled from the literature and international data centers dated from 1852 up to 2023.Another point of study was to establish links between seismicity and deformation zones.Many faults and/or structures were identified as possibly active,although some of them are not always associated with seismicity.A seismotectonic model for Cameroon was then built from a classification of faults,neotectonic and seismogenic regions.This structured and highly data-driven approach has been developed specifically for the definition of source zones where seismicity is not well known.The results of the seismotectonic analysis allowed characterizing seventeen seismotectonic source zones in Cameroon.Five source zones are defined in the Mount Cameroon region which is the greatest seismicity activity in the study area.The crustal thickness map of Cameroon revealed a thinned transitional zone interspersed between the thickened Congo Shield and thin Pan-African belt favourable for the development of megastructures such as Central Cameroon shear zone and Kribi-Campo shear zone.This region represents the second highest seismicity zone and contains five source zones.展开更多

BACKGROUND Although chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia(CP-CML)is treatable and nearly curable in about 50%of patients,accelerated-phase chronic myeloid leukemia(AP-CML)shows concerning drug resistance,while blast ...BACKGROUND Although chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia(CP-CML)is treatable and nearly curable in about 50%of patients,accelerated-phase chronic myeloid leukemia(AP-CML)shows concerning drug resistance,while blast crisis chronic myeloid leukemia(BC-CML)is highly lethal.Advances in whole exome sequencing(WES)reveal pan-cancer mutations in BC-CML,supporting mutation-guided therapies beyond Breakpoint cluster region-Abelson.Artificial intelligence(AI)and machine learning(ML)enable genomic stratification and drug repurposing,addressing overlooked actionable mutations.AIM To stratify BC-CML into molecular subtypes using WES,ML,and AI for precision drug repurposing.METHODS Included 123 CML patients(111 CP-CML,5 AP-CML,7 BC-CML).WES identified pan-cancer mutations.Variants annotated via Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor and Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer(COSMIC).ML(principal component analysis,K-means)stratified BC-CML.COSMIC signatures and PanDrugs prioritized drugs.Analysis of variance/Kruskal-Wallis validated differences(P<0.05).RESULTS In this exploratory,hypothesis-generating study of BC-CML patients(n=7),we detected over 2500 somatic mutations.ML identified three BC-CML clusters:(1)Cluster 1[breast cancer susceptibility gene 2(BRCA2),TP53];(2)Cluster 2[isocitrate dehydrogenase(IDH)1/2,ten-eleven translocation 2];and(3)Cluster 3[Janus kinase(JAK)2,colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor],with distinct COSMIC signatures.Therapies:(1)Polyadenosinediphosphate-ribose polymerase inhibitors(olaparib);(2)IDH inhibitors(ivosidenib);and(3)JAK inhibitors(ruxolitinib).Mutational burden,signatures,and targets varied significantly across clusters,supporting precision stratification.CONCLUSION This WES-AI-ML framework provides mutation-guided therapies for BC-CML,enabling real-time stratification and Food and Drug Administration-approved drug repurposing.While this exploratory study is limited by its small sample size(n=7),it establishes a methodological framework for precision oncology stratification that warrants validation in larger,multi-center cohorts.展开更多

Artificial earthquake catalogue simulation is one of the ways to effectively improve the incompleteness of the existing earthquake catalogue,the scarcity of large earthquake records and the improvement of seismologica...Artificial earthquake catalogue simulation is one of the ways to effectively improve the incompleteness of the existing earthquake catalogue,the scarcity of large earthquake records and the improvement of seismological research. Based on the Poisson distribution model of seismic activity and the Gutenberg-Richter magnitude-frequency relationship,the Monte Carlo method which can describe the characteristics of the stochastic nature and the physical experiment process is used. This paper simulates the future seismic catalogues of the Fenhe-Weihe seismic belt of different durations and conducts statistical tests on them.The analysis shows that the simulation catalogue meets the set seismic activity parameters and meets the Poisson distribution hypothesis,which can obtain a better simulated earthquake catalogues that meets the seismic activity characteristics. According to the simulated earthquake catalogues,future earthquake trends in this region are analyzed to provide reference for seismic hazard analysis.展开更多

Result shows that seismic static stress triggering effect ...Seismic static stress triggering model is tested using Harvard centroid moment tensor (CMT) solution catalogue of 1976~2000 and concept of earthquake doublet. Result shows that seismic static stress triggering effect does exist in the view of global earthquakes, but the effect is very weak. Dividing the earthquakes into thrust focal mechanism, normal focal mechanism, strike-slip focal mechanism, we find that non-strike-slip focal mechanism earthquakes have significant triggering effect, whereas, the triggering effect in strike-slip focal mechanism earthquakes is not obvious. Divided the subsequent events delay time of earthquake doublet into 5 classes of t1, t<1, t10, t<10, 1t10 (t is in unit of d), then seismic static stress triggering effect does not change with delay time in short time period after earthquakes. The research on seismic static stress triggering in different regions of the world indicates that triggering effect is significant in subduction belts. Seismic static stress triggering model is tested by using earthquake doublets in China and its adjacent region. The result indicates that seismic static stress triggering effect cannot be observed easily in China and its adjacent region due to the seismic focal mechanism type (most of the earthquakes are strike-slip earthquakes).展开更多

Without adequate knowledge of Information Retrieval (IR) methods, the retrieval process for information would be cumbersome and frustrating. Studies have further revealed that IR methods are essential in information centres (for example, Digital Library environment) for storage and retrieval of information. Therefore, with more than one billion people accessing the Internet, and millions of queries being issued on a daily basis, modern Web search engines are facing a problem of daunting scale. The main problem associated with the existing search engines is how to avoid irrelevant information retrieval and to retrieve the relevant ones. In this study, the existing system of library retrieval was studied. Problems associated with them were analyzed in order to address this problem. The concept of existing information retrieval models was studied, and the knowledge gained was used to design a digital library information retrieval system. It was successfully implemented using a real life data. The need for a continuous evaluation of the IR methods for effective and efficient full text retrieval system was recommended.展开更多

Divided the subsequent events delay time of earthquake doublet into 5 classes of t1, t<1, t10, t<10, 1t10 (t is in unit of d), then seismic static stress triggering effect does not change with delay time in short time period after earthquakes. The research on seismic static stress triggering in different regions of the world indicates that triggering effect is significant in subduction belts. Seismic static stress triggering model is tested by using earthquake doublets in China and its adjacent region. The result indicates that seismic static stress triggering effect cannot be observed easily in China and its adjacent region due to the seismic focal mechanism type (most of the earthquakes are strike-slip earthquakes).
文摘The historical earthquake catalogue of China has lasted more than 3000 years,and most of its data are inferred from historical records.The earthquake catalogue in earlier times is not complete owing to various reasons,so some events are lost.This paper estimates the loss rate of earthquakes with various magnitudes in the historical earthquake catalogue for different time intervals quantitatively by using the Gutenberg-Richter formula and modern instrumental records,which will provide the references for statistic research in seismicity.
文摘The volume of information being created, generated and stored is huge. Without adequate knowledge of Information Retrieval (IR) methods, the retrieval process for information would be cumbersome and frustrating. Studies have further revealed that IR methods are essential in information centres (for example, Digital Library environment) for storage and retrieval of information. Therefore, with more than one billion people accessing the Internet, and millions of queries being issued on a daily basis, modern Web search engines are facing a problem of daunting scale. The main problem associated with the existing search engines is how to avoid irrelevant information retrieval and to retrieve the relevant ones. In this study, the existing system of library retrieval was studied. Problems associated with them were analyzed in order to address this problem. The concept of existing information retrieval models was studied, and the knowledge gained was used to design a digital library information retrieval system. It was successfully implemented using a real life data. The need for a continuous evaluation of the IR methods for effective and efficient full text retrieval system was recommended.

文摘In the present study, we report the six type specimens and two paratypes of eight lizard species in the Herpetological Museum of the Chengdu Institute of Biology（CIB）, Chinese Academy of Sciences（CAS）. Each entry provides the information of the original description, the catalog number of the holotype, sex, type locality, and information of allotype and paratype（if any）, number and distribution of deposited specimens, and comments. Additionally, two invalid species and one invalid subspecies are discussed.
