The research on building model reconstruction has been a long-term hot topic in both the photogrammetry and computer vision areas. The airborne laser scanning technique provides new opportunities for building model reconstruction.Despite many investigations on building reconstruction using point clouds, there are still many unresolved problems that need further research, especially fully automatic methods and intelligent user-friendly operations. This article surveys the methods, tools and problems of building model reconstruction using point clouds data. The article also points out some important but unnoticed problems in building reconstruction according to our previous experience. We hope our comments article can be helpful for researchers in understanding their position and for new researcher in acquiring general information. 展开更多

Post-earthquake building reconstruction usually faces challenges such as inadequate preparation and lack of resources, while compensation measures can help alleviate these difficulties.Although various compensation measures have been proposed for accelerating post-earthquake recovery, their effects on building reconstruction are still unclear. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the effects of compensation measures on post-earthquake building reconstruction. To achieve this objective, this study first identified the post-earthquake building reconstruction goals,21 reconstruction factors across five categories, and four compensation measures, and employed the methods of structural equation modeling,paired-samples t-test,and repeated measures analysis of variance to analyze the effects of reconstruction factors on the reconstruction goals and the effects of compensation measures on the reconstruction factors, respectively.A questionnaire was designed to investigate the post-earthquake building reconstruction projects in China, with 251 respondents participated. The results show that apart from project-specific condition, the other four categories of reconstruction factors, including owner condition, technology condition, resource availability, and contractor management capability, have significant effects on the reconstruction goals. The study also evaluated the extent of the above effects. On the other hand, the results indicate that the affecting extents of various compensation measures on reconstruction factors are significantly different. These findings can provide support and guidance for government management of post-earthquake building reconstruction and the development of compensation measures. They also provide a basis for future research on optimizing compensation measures for post-earthquake building reconstruction. 展开更多

In architecture, in the past, different materials were used for covering of the buildings. The selection of the type of roofing depended on the purpose and size of the building; thus all the churches, administrative buildings and important medieval buildings were originally covered with stone or lead slabs as the final roofing material. The tendency of return of stone as an authentic roofing in the reconstruction of medieval buildings and churches, as well as the introduction of stone as a roofing on the new buildings in protected historic cores, is possible only if fulfilled modem principles and requirements of the physics of construction. The application of modem principles of double ventilated roofs and the use of stone as a roofing enables the restoration and preservation of the original appearance of medieval buildings, as well as the preservation and conservation of existing frescoes that have been present for centuries in these facilities. It also enables a successful reconstruction of a large number of medieval buildings. In this way it has been given a contribution to the preservation of old medieval buildings as the improvement of world cultural heritage. 展开更多
