Based on the theory of continuum damage mechanics,a bi-variable damage mechanics model is developed,which,according to thermodynamics,is accessible to derivation of damage driving force,damage evolution equation and damage evolution criteria. Furthermore,damage evolution equations of time rate are established by the generalized Drucker's postulate. The damage evolution equation of cycle rate is obtained by integrating the time damage evolution equations,and the fatigue life prediction method for smooth specimens under repeated loading with constant strain amplitude is constructed. Likewise,for notched specimens under the repeated loading with constant strain amplitude,the fatigue life prediction method is obtained on the ground of the theory of conservative integral in damage mechanics. Thus,the material parameters in the damage evolution equation can be obtained by reference to the fatigue test results of standard specimens with stress concentration factor equal to 1,2 and 3. 展开更多

The storm surge disaster in Qingdao depends on various influen... Storm surge is one of the predominant natural threats to coastal communities. Qingdao is located on the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula in China. The storm surge disaster in Qingdao depends on various influencing factors such as the intensity, duration, and route of the passing typhoon, and thus a comprehensive understanding of natural coastal hazards is essential. In order to make up the defects of merely using the warning water level, this paper presents two statistical distribution models(Poisson Bi- variable Gumbel Logistic Distribution and Poisson Bi-variable Log-normal Distribution) to classify the intensity of storm surge. We emphasize the joint return period of typhoon-induced water levels and wave heights measured in the coastal area of Qingdao since 1949. The present study establishes a new criterion to classify the intensity grade of catastrophic storms using the typhoon surge estimated by the two models. A case study demonstrates that the new criterion is well defined in terms of probability concept, is easy to implement, and fits well the calculation of storm surge intensity. The procedures with the proposed statistical models would be useful for the disaster mitigation in other coastal areas influenced by typhoons. 展开更多

The equation arising from Prandtl boundary layer theory (e)u/(e)t-(e)/(e)x1(a(u,x,t)(e)u/(e)xi)-fi(x)Diu+c(x,t)u=g(x,t)is considered.The existence of the entropy solution can be proved by BV estimate method.The interesting problem is that,since a(·,x,t) may be degenerate on the boundary,the usual boundary value condition may be overdetermined.Accordingly,only dependent on a partial boundary value condition,the stability of solutions can be expected.This expectation is turned to reality by Kru(z)kov's bi-variables method,a reasonable partial boundary value condition matching up with the equation is found first time.Moreover,if axi(·,x,t)|x∈(e)Ω=a(·,x,t)|x∈(e)Ω=0 and fi(x)|x∈(e)Ω=0,the stability can be proved even without any boundary value condition. 展开更多
