Methods Eighty-four patients with androgenic alopecia were divided into catgut embedment group (group A) and western medicine group (group B) on the basis of random number table and according to the order of treatment. For the pateints in group A, Shenguan (肾关) on both sides, Minghuang (明黄) and Zusanli (足三里 ST 36) were selected to receive catgut embedment therapy, once every month, combined with moxibustion on the lower abdomen and local bloodletting treatment. For the patients in group B, finasteride 1mg/d was orally administrated. The treatment period for two groups was 3 months, and the follow-up visit lasted for 3 months. Serum testosterone (T) and estradiol (E2) contents were detected respectively before treatment, after i month and 3 months of treatment and after 3 months of follow-up visit, and the specific values were calculated to make statistical analysis of T, E2, T/E2 and curative effects of the two groups after i month and 3 months of treatment and after 3 months of follow-up visit. Results There was no statistical significance in curative effect between the two groups after i month of treatment (P〉0.05), and the curative effect in group A were better than that in group B after 3 months of treatment or after 3 months of follow-up visit (both P〈0.05); E2 level in group A was lower than that in group A after 3 months of treatment (P〈0.05); T, E2 and T/E2 in group A were all lower than that in group B after 3 month of follow-up visit (all P〈0.05). Conclusion The curative effect of treating androgenic alopecia with catgut embedment, moxibustion and bloodletting is definite, and its mechanism of action may be related to the reduction of T levels and T/E2 values.展开更多

Methods 40 normal named control group, LDH model group, BL40 group New Zealand rabbits were randomized into 4 groups, and comparative point group. The experimental LDH model was prepared by the self-made LDH animal pathological modeling device. Bloodletting on BL40 or on comparative point was applied for 7 days. BL-410 physiological signal recorder was used to record SNCV. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunology methods were used to determine the contents of IL-1α and PLA2 in neucleus pulposus tissue and PGE2 in serum. Results In BL40 group, SNCV was significantly increased after treatment comparing with that before treatment (P〈0. 01 ), and the difference in SNCV value before and after treatment was significantly bigger than that in model group and comparative point group (P〈0.05). Bloodletting on BL40 reduced the contents of IL-1α and PLA2 in neucleus pulposus tissue and serum PGE2 in LDH rabbits, which indicated significant difference or very significant results in the comparison with model and comparative point groups (P〈0.01 or 0. 05). Conclusion Bloodletting speeded up rapidly SNCV and reduced the contents of inflammatory factors, i.e. IL-1α, PLA2 and serum PGE2 in LDH rabbits, which indicated that alleviation of local inflammatory reaction is probably one of the mechanisms on LDH treated by bloodletting on BL40.展开更多

In this study, the theoretical knowledge, application method and clinical experience of professor JIA Chun-sheng in blooddraining therapy on the back were mainly introduced. Professor JIA Chun-sheng focuses on two key viewpoints: "Attacking pathogenic qi is to supplement deficiency," and "Eliminating stagnant pathogen can clean the intestines and stomach, and removing concretions and conglomerations can harmonize Fing and wei", which have been considered as the important theoretical bases of direction of clinical practice. Generally, professor JIA Chun-sheng conducts blood-draining therapy at Dazhui (大椎 GV 14), Feishu (肺俞 BL 13), Xinshu (心俞 BL 15), Geshu (膈俞 BL 17), Ganshu (肝俞 BL 18), Pishu (脾俞 BE 20) and Shenshu (肾俞 BL 23) on the back in order to improve the blood circulation in local and corresponding zong-fu organs, thus being beneficial to harmonize qi and blood, or eliminate dampness, heat, wind, stasis and toxins. In the process of blood-draining, professor JIA Chun-sheng combines the blood-draining pen with vacuum cup to replace the traditional blood-draining tools, which makes the blooddraining therapy easy to learn and use.展开更多

METHODS: A total of 66 were randomly assigned upper back MPS patients to either the treatment group or the control group in a 1 : 1 ratio. The treatment group (n = 33) were treated with bloodletting therapy at local myofascial trigger points and acupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points; one treatment course consisted of five, single 20-min-treatments with a 2-day break between each treatment. The control group (n = 33) were treated with a lidocaine block at trigger points; one treatment course consisted of five sessions of lidocaine block therapy with a 2-day break between each session. The simplified McGill Scale (SF-MPQ) and tenderness threshold determination were used to assess pain before and after a course of treatment. RESULTS: After the third and fifth treatment, the SF-MPQ values were significantly decreased (P 〈 0.01) and the tenderness thresholds were significantly increased (P 〈 0.01) in both groups compared with before treatment. There were no significant differences in pain assessments between the two groups after three and five treatments (P 〉 0.05). There were five cases with minor adverse reactions reported in the control patients, while no adverse reactions were reported in the treatment group. CONCLUSION: Bloodletting therapy at local myo- fascial trigger points and acupuncture at Jiaji points was effective in treating upper back MPS. Clinically, bloodletting and acupuncture therapy had the same efficacy as the lidocaine block therapy, with fewer adverse reactions.展开更多

METHODS: Adult male Sprague Dawley (n = 32) rats were randomly divided into four groups of eight animals each: WPBA-thalamus group (WT), WPBA-caudate nucleus group (WC), sham-control thalamus group (ST) and sham-control caudate nucleus group (SC). Animals in the WT and WC groups received 2 I-μL of the extracellular tracer gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) injected into the thalamus or caudate nucleus, respectively, and 12 Jing-well points in the distal ends of the rats' digits were used for WPBA. Although 2 μL of Gd-DTPA was injected into the thalamus or caudate nucleus, respectively, for animals in the two sham groups (ST and SC), no acupuncture or bloodletting was performed. Brain extracellular space and interstitial fluid flow parameters were measured using Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic reso- nance imaging. RESULTS: The brain interstitial fluid flow speed was decreased in the thalamus after WPBA, with a significantly lower Gd-DTPA clearance rate and longer half-life of Gd-DTPA in the thalamus of treated rats than those in sham-control rats [WPBA-treated rats'clearance rate, (7.47 ± 3.15) x 10^-5/s (P = 0.009); half-life, (1.52 ± 0.13) h, P = 0.000]. By contrast, no significant changes in brain extracellular space and interstitial fluid flow parameters were detected in the caudate nucleus after WPBA (P = 0.649). In addi- tion, no differences in the morphology of the brain extracellular space or the final distribution of the traced brain interstitial fluid were demonstrated be- tween theWT and WC groups (P = 0.631, P = 0.970, respectively). CONCLUSION: The WPBA decreased the speed of the local thalamic ISF flow in rats, which is assumed to be a beneficial protection by down-modulated the metabolic rate of the attacked neurons under stroke.展开更多

The following outcomes were measured blindly at baseline, after first treatment, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks: Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale(PSQI).RESULTS: The groups were balanced at baseline for insomnia and demographic characteristics. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of any of the outcomes, at the first follow-up time point. However, the therapeutic effect of LFG(once per week) is obviously lower than that of HFG(twice per week). In addition, there was no significant difference in the side effects between the two groups.CONCLUSION: The treatment of insomnia with different frequencies of auricular acupoint bloodletting is effective and has less side effects. More reasonable treatment frequencies are worth further study.展开更多

文摘Objective To observe the changes of sciatic nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) and interleukin-1α (IL-1α), phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in neucleus pulposus tissue in experimental rabbits with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) ; and discuss the mechanism of LDH treated with bloodletting on Wěizhōng (委中 BL40). IL-1α, PLA2 and serum PGE2 in LDH rabbits, which indicated that alleviation of local inflammatory reaction is probably one of the mechanisms on LDH treated by bloodletting on BL40.

文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical efficacy of bloodletting therapy and acupuncture at Jiaji points for treating upper back myofascial pain syndrome (MPS), and compare this with lidocaine block therapy. Clinically, bloodletting and acupuncture therapy had the same efficacy as the lidocaine block therapy, with fewer adverse reactions.

文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the changes in the neuronal microenvironment of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory induced by Jing-well points bloodletting acupuncture (WPBA) and to explore the neuroprotective mechanism of WPBA in stroke. CONCLUSION: The WPBA decreased the speed of the local thalamic ISF flow in rats, which is assumed to be a beneficial protection by down-modulated the metabolic rate of the attacked neurons under stroke.
