Most studies focus on the provision of ecosystem services and few focus on the demands on ecosystem services and their spatial distribution. Here, on the basis of the flow of water conservation services from the providing area to the benefiting area, the benefits produced by water conservation service are investigated and the benefiting areas are identified. The results indicate that in 2010 the water conservation service of key ecological function areas provided irrigation water for 1.67×105 km2 of paddy fields and 1.01×105 km2 irrigated fields, domestic water to urban residents and industrial water to factories, mines and enterprises of 2.64×104 km2 urban construction land and domestic water to rural residents across 3.73×104 km2 of rural settlements and formed 6.64×104 km2 of inland water which can be used for freshwater aquaculture, downstream regions comprise 1.31×104 km of navigable river, which can be used for inland shipping. The benefit areas of the key function areas located in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River are greater and more influential benefit areas. To protect these key function areas, more attention should be paid to the maintenance and improvement of water conservation. Some benefit areas have access to the benefits produced by water conservation of nine key ecological function areas and cover 17% of the overall benefit area and the length of their channels benefited accounts for 7%. Multiple key ecological function areas should be taken into account equally in the formulation of ecological compensation policies. These research findings can serve as a scientific basis for the compensated use of and ecological compensation for ecosystem services provided by key ecological function areas.展开更多

文摘Background: Resistance exercise leads to improved muscle function and metabolic homeostasis.Yet how circadian rhythm impacts exercise outcomes and its molecular transduction remains elusive. Methods: Human volunteers were subjected to 4 weeks of resistance training protocols at different times of day to assess training outcomes and their associations with myokine irisin.Based on rhythmicity of Fibronectin type III domain containing 5(FNDC5/irisin),we trained wild type and FNDC5 knockout mice at late active phase(high FNDC5/irisin level)or late rest phase(low FNDC5/irisin level)to analyze exercise benefits on muscle function and metabolic homeostasis.Molecular analysis was performed to understand the regulatory mechanisms of FNDC5 rhythmicity and downstream signaling transduction in skeletal muscle. Results: In this study,we showed that regular resistance exercises performed at different times of day resulted in distinct training outcomes in humans, including exercise benefits and altered plasma metabolomics. We found that muscle FNDC5/irisin levels exhibit rhythmicity.Consistent with human data, compared to late rest phase(low irisin level),mice trained chronically at late active phase(high irisin level)gained more muscle capacity along with improved metabolic fitness and metabolomics/lipidomics profiles under a high-fat diet, whereas these differences were lost in FNDC5 knockout mice.Mechanistically,Basic helix-loop-helix ARNT like 1(BMAL1)and Peroxisome proliferative activated receptor, gamma, coactivator 1 alpha 4(PGC1α4)induce FNDC5/irisin transcription and rhythmicity, and the signaling is transduced viaαV integrin in muscle. Conclusion: Together, our results offered novel insights that exercise performed at distinct times of day determines training outcomes and metabolic benefits through the rhythmic regulation of the BMAL1/PGC1α4-FNDC5/irisin axis.

文摘Objective:The role of intraoperative radiation therapy(IORT)in the management of resectable pancreatic cancer(RPC)remains unclear. To date, the application of IORT using a low-energy X-ray source has not been extensively investigated. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of IORT using a 50 kV X-ray source in treating RPC.Methods:Patients with RPC who underwent radical pancreatectomy and IORT were enrolled. The primary endpoint was time to treatment failure(TTF)survival, whereas the secondary endpoints were safety and overall survival(OS).Results:By November 2023,35 patients with RPC were treated according to the study protocol. The median TTF was 11.67 months, whereas the median OS for the cohort was 22.2 months. The local recurrence rate was 20%.The most common postoperative complication was pancreatic fistula. The incidence of delayed gastric emptying was 20%.Within 30 days after surgery, one patient experienced abdominal pain, another experienced vomiting, and one died because of abdominal infection and a grade C pancreatic fistula.Carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and D-dimer levels significantly correlated with TTF and OS in multivariate analyses. The carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9)level was another prognostic factor significantly associated with OS.Patients with low D-dimer and normal CA19-9 levels showed prolonged OS with an IORT dose≤15 Gy.Conclusions:This study supports use of IORT with a 50 kV X-ray source in treating RPC.IORT using a low-energy X-ray source was well-tolerated and feasible.Additionally,D-dimer,CEA,and CA19-9 levels may help identify patient profiles potentially benefitting from IORT.
文摘Urban lakes, situated in cities characterized by dense population and economic activities, are susceptible to eutrophication. This study focuses on the water ecological restoration project of Xuanwu Lake, assessing the efficacy of ecological management through laboratory analysis of water quality indicators.Furthermore,it delves into a comprehensive life cycle cost structure analysis, ecosystem service value accounting, and economic benefit evaluation. From an economic standpoint, the research examines the cost-effectiveness and external impacts of the clear-water ecosystem restoration project.Findings indicate that TP and TN levels in the treated area have decreased by over 50%,substantially reducing the eutrophication index. The cost-benefit ratio for each unit of treatment stands at 1:3.2(direct benefit).Notably, the restoration has markedly improved water quality and augmented the value of ecosystem services, demonstrating long-term cost sustainability and positive economic externalities. To ensure the sustained success of such restorations,it is imperative to optimize public resource allocation, incorporate market-based incentives, and furnish economic insights for managing urban lakes.
文摘The aim of this study is to determine the level to which the public is aware about ITS(intelligent transportation systems)technologies and how they perceive the potential advantages and inhibitors of ITS in Michigan.A survey was performed with 200 participants living in Michigan,in urban, suburban and rural areas.Questions covered in the survey included how often and how bad traffic congestion occurred, how familiar travelers were with ITS technologies(adaptive traffic signals, real time monitoring of the traffic)and how much support travelers would provide for ITS initiatives. Results reveal that there is a high degree of traffic congestion awareness, there is low public awareness of ITS technologies. While respondents who were aware of ITS solutions had positive views about deploying them, especially in urban areas, they were less supportive of ITS solutions than they were among those who did not know much about these.Factors including area of residence, commute time and age were perceived to influence ITS along with more positive attitudes to ITS amongst urban dwellers and younger respondents.Analysis of key barriers to ITS implementation reflected high initial costs, challenges with technical integration and users’concerns surrounding privacy.
