文摘We develop an ultrafast Yb-fiber laser system based on eight-channel coherent beam combining utilizing commercially available rod-type Yb-fibers.To ensure good combining efficiency and long-term operation of the system at the attosecond laser facility under construction,we fully stabilize the phase,group-delay,and beam-pointing of the eight fiber channels.Especially,we propose a novel multi-step hill climbing method to control both group-delay and beam-pointing.At a repetition rate of 1 MHz,this laser system delivers 270-fs pulses with 1.18-k W average power(1.18-m J pulse energy). The average-power instability of the laser system running for 12 hours is 0.32%.
文摘Sandwich functionally graded(FG)auxetic beams are extensively utilized in aerospace, automotive, and biomedical industries due to their excellent strength-toweight ratio, impact resistance, and tunable mechanical properties. The integration of FG materials with auxetic structures enhances their adaptability in advanced engineering applications. However, understanding their dynamic behavior under external excitations is essential for optimal design and structural reliability.Nonlinear interactions in such structures pose significant challenges in vibration analysis, necessitating robust analytical methods. This study presents a closed-form solution for the nonlinear forced vibration analysis of sandwich FG auxetic beams, offering an accurate and efficient method for predicting their dynamic response. The beam consists of two FG face sheets with material properties varying through the thickness and a re-entrant honeycomb auxetic core with an adjustable Poisson's ratio. The governing nonlinear equations of motion are derived using the first-order shear deformation theory(FSDT),the modified Gibson model, and the von Kármán relations, formulated through Hamilton's principle.A closed-form solution is obtained via the Galerkin method and multiple-scale technique. The results demonstrate that FG layers enable control of the overweight and dynamic response amplitude, with positive power law indexes reducing weight.Comparisons with finite element results confirm the accuracy of the proposed formulation.

文摘High-performance, large-area optical gratings for applications like chirped pulse amplification, gravitational wave astronomy, and X-ray optics require sub-nanometer line placement control over several cm^(2). Electron beam lithography with a variable shaped beam(VSB) is well suited but limited by tool-dependent address grid discretization. We adapted address grid interpolation to the VSB method, reducing the effective placement grid to 25 pm, as confirmed by stray light measurements.

文摘The significance of laser-driven polarized beam acceleration has been increasingly recognized in recent years. We propose an efficient method for generating polarized proton beams from a pre-polarized hydrogen halide gas jet, utilizing magnetic vortex acceleration enhanced by a laser-driven plasma bubble. When a petawatt laser pulse passes through a pre-polarized gas jet,a bubble-like ultra-nonlinear plasma wave is formed. As a portion of the particles constituting this wave, background protons are swept by the acceleration field of the bubble and oscillate significantly along the laser propagation axis. Some of the pre-accelerated protons in the plasma wave are trapped by the acceleration field at the rear side of the target. This acceleration field is intensified by the transverse expansion of the laser-driven magnetic vortex, resulting in energetic polarized proton beams. The spin of energetic protons is determined by their precession within the electromagnetic field, which is described using the Thomas-Bargmann-Michel-Telegdi equation in analytical models and particle-in-cell simulations.Multidimensional simulations reveal that monoenergetic proton beams with an energy of hundreds of MeV,a beam charge of hundreds of pC,and a beam polarization of tens of percent can be produced at laser powers of several petawatts.Such laser-driven polarized proton beams have promise for application in polarized beam colliders, where they can be utilized to investigate particle interactions and to explore the properties of matter under extreme conditions.

文摘This paper presents a design method to implement an antenna array characterized by ultra-wide beam coverage, low profile, and low Sidelobe Level(SLL)for the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)air-to-ground communication. The array consists of ten broadside-radiating,ultrawide-beamwidth elements that are cascaded by a central-symmetry series-fed network with tapered currents following Dolph-Chebyshev distribution to provide low SLL.First,an innovative design of end-fire Huygens source antenna that is compatible with metal ground is presented.A low-profile,half-mode Microstrip Patch Antenna(MPA)is utilized to serve as the magnetic dipole and a monopole is utilized to serves as the electric dipole, constructing the compact,end-fire,grounded Huygens source antenna. Then, two opposite-oriented end-fire Huygens source antennas are seamlessly integrated into a single antenna element in the form of monopole-loaded MPA to accomplish the ultrawide,broadside-radiating beam.Particular consideration has been applied into the design of series-fed network as well as antenna element to compensate the adverse coupling effects between elements on the radiation performance.Experiment indicates an ultrawide Half-Power Beamwidth(HPBW)of 161°and a low SLL of-25 dB with a high gain of 12 d Bi under a single-layer configuration. The concurrent ultrawide beamwidth and low SLL make it particularly attractive for applications of UAV air-to-ground communication.

文摘Red-green-blue(RGB)beam combiners are widely used in scenarios such as augmented reality/virtual reality(AR/VR),laser projection, biochemical detection, and other fields.Optical waveguide combiners have attracted extensive attention due to their advantages of small size, high multiplexing efficiency, convenient mass production, and low cost.An RGB beam combiner based on directional couplers is designed, with a core-cladding relative refractive index difference of 0.75%.The RGB beam combiner is optimized from the perspective of parameter optimization.Using the beam propagation method(BPM),the relationship between the performance of the RGB beam combiner and individual parameters is studied, achieving preliminary optimization of the device’s performance. The key parameters of the RGB beam combiner are optimized using the entropy weight-technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution TOPSIS method, establishing the optimal parameter scheme and further improving the device’s performance indicators. The results show that after optimization, the multiplexing efficiencies for red, green, and blue lights,as well as the average multiplexing efficiency, reached 99.17%,99.76%,96.63%and 98.52%,respectively.The size of the RGB beam combiner is 4.768 mm×0.062 mm.

文摘[Background]Traveling-wave tubes(TWTs)are widely applied in radar, imaging, and military systems owing to their excellent amplification characteristics.Miniaturization and integration are critical to the future of TWTs,with multi-channel slow-wave structures(SWSs)forming the foundation for their realization in high-power vacuum electronic devices.[Purpose]To provide design insights for multi-channel TWTs and simultaneously enhance their output power,a W-band folded-waveguide TWT with dual electron beams and H-plane power combining was proposed.[Methods]Three-dimensional electromagnetic simulations in CST were conducted to verify the highfrequency characteristics, electric field distribution, and amplification performance of the proposed SWS,thereby confirming the validity of the design.[Results]Results indicate that the designed TWT achieves a transmission bandwidth of 10 GHz.With an electron beam voltage of 17.9 kV and a current of 0.35 A,the output power reaches 450 W at 94 GHz,corresponding to an efficiency of 7.18%and a gain of 23.5 dB.Moreover, under fixed beam voltage and current, the TWT delivers over 200 W output power across 91–99 GHz,with a 3 dB bandwidth of 91–98.5 GHz.The particle voltage distribution after modulation further validates the mode analysis.[Conclusions]These results demonstrate the feasibility of compact dual-beam power-combining structures and provide useful guidance for the design of future multi-channel TWTs.

文摘A thermionic gun is endowed with a long bunch tail, which presents challenges for the compact terahertz free electron laser(FEL)facility at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.Owing to a large energy spread, the tail particles do not contribute to the radiation. In the original design,an x-direction slit is used in the dispersive section of the transport line to remove the tail particles. This paper presents an improved scheme to remove the tail by introducing an RF beam chopper system at the exit of the electron gun,to prevent a significant number of tail particles from entering the linac. The facility remains compact while effectively removing the tail of the bunch. The parameters of the beam chopper system are designed.Bunch parameters and radiation performance are analyzed via a start-to-end simulation. The findings indicate that 43%of the particles can pass through the beam chopper system for subsequent acceleration and transport, which saves the RF power, reduces beam loss in the linac, reduces background noise, and suppresses the sideband instability.Simultaneously, the beam chopper system causes an increase in beam emittance, energy spread, and an offset in the center of the bunch. These effects can be mitigated by a solenoid, linac, and steering coils. The simulation results for the FEL show that the micro-pulse energy is greater than 1.1μJ in the frequency range of 2.8-9.7 THz,and the maximum micro-pulse energy is 1.28μJ.

文摘A 4 MeV RF linear accelerator for electron beam irradiation applications has been developed at the PBP-CMU Electron Linac Laboratory,Thailand. The system has been reengineered using a decommissioned medical linear accelerator. The main components include a thermionic DC electron gun,an RF linear accelerator,a beam diagnostic chamber, and a beam exit window for electron beam irradiation. Therefore, reengineering must be performed based on the characteristics of the electron beam and its dynamics throughout the system. In this study, the electron beam current density emitted from the cathode was calculated based on the thermionic emission theory, and the result was used to produce the electron beam distribution in the gun using CST Studio Suite^(■)software. The properties of the electron beam and its acceleration in the linear accelerator and downstream diagnostic section were studied using the ASTRA electron beam dynamics simulation code, with the aim of producing an electron beam with an average energy of 4 MeV at the linear accelerator exit. The transverse beam profile and electron deposition dose in the ambient environment were calculated using Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation software to estimate the beam performance for the irradiation experiments. The parameters studied can be used as guidelines for machine operation and future experimental plans.

文摘We propose a compact scheme to modulate a relativistic electron beam(REB)into three-dimensional(3D)nanoscale bunches by injecting a rarefied REB into an underdense plasma. This scheme self-consistently integrates the lateral focusing and axial modulation of the REB in its self-driven plasma wakefield. The REB first expels the plasma electrons in its path to form a wake, where the lateral force of the chargeseparation field compresses it to higher density,so that more plasma electrons are expelled as it propagates. The positive feedback loop is repeated until the REB becomes a thin electron filament of density a hundred times that of the original. As it continues to propagate in the elongated electron-free wake bubble, the axial electric field induces an energy chirp on the electron filament, and longitudinally modulates it into 3D nanoscale bunches by asynchronous envelope oscillations. The excitation conditions of this scheme with respect to the beam and plasma parameters,as well as the spatial scale of the obtained electron bunches, are analyzed analytically and agree well with particle-in-cell simulations. In addition, our radiation simulations show that coherent extreme ultraviolet radiation can be generated with such 3D nanoscale bunches.

文摘A dual-wavelength ring-cavity erbium-doped fiber(EDF)laser is designed based on two polarization beam splitters(PBSs)and a polarization controller(PC)performing gain equalization and polarization hole burning(PHB)effect. At room temperature,a stable dual-wavelength laser and a multi-output port laser which can simultaneously emit single-wavelength lasing and dual-wavelength lasing are obtained. The signal-to-noise ratios(SNRs)for single-wavelength outputs were 54.70 dB and 57.10 dB,with power fluctuations less than 0.038 mW and 0.029 mW,respectively. For dual-wavelength lasing, the SNRs were 59.63 dB and 59.25 dB,with power fluctuations less than 0.018 mW and 0.008 mW,respectively. The center wavelength drift was less than 0.006 nm for both single-wavelength and dual-wavelength outputs.
文摘This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams, which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP)materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated.Additionally,a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are obtained.Continuity conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure.Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS,demonstrating excellent agreement.Furthermore,a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

文摘In this work, the effects of transverse boundary conditions, specifically the bias voltage on the transverse wall and the gap width,on the electron beam-generated plasmas(EBPs)confined in a narrow gap,are investigated using the particle-in-cell/Monte Carlo collision(PIC/MCC)simulations.Simulation results reveal that the application of bias voltage causes beam deflections, leading to the formation of band structures in the beam electron velocity space.Three branches of electrostatic waves, including electron beam mode,Langmuir wave, and electron acoustic mode, are identified.Increasing the bias voltage and reducing gap width intensify beam deflections, resulting in the suppression of waves. Both wave excitation and beam deflection significantly modify beam electron transport, leading to the plasma non-uniformity.These findings enhance the understanding of beam transport and plasma behavior in discharges confined in a narrow gap.
