This "breakthrough" not onl...Wide-bandgap two-dimensional (2D) β-TeO_(2) has been reported as a high-mobility p-type transparent semiconductor [Nat. Electron. 4 277 (2021)], attracting significant attention. This "breakthrough" not only challenges the conventional characterization of TeO_(2) as an insulator but also conflicts with the anticipated difficulty in hole doping of TeO_(2) by established chemical trends. Notably, the reported Fermi level of 0.9 eV above the valence band maximum actually suggests that the material is an insulator, contradicting the high hole density obtained by Hall effect measurement. Furthermore, the detected residual Se and the possible reduced elemental Te in the 2D β-TeO_(2) samples introduces complexity, considering that elemental Se, Te, and Te_(1−x)Se_(x) themselves are high-mobility p-type semiconductors. Therefore, doubts regarding the true cause of the p-type conductivity observed in the 2D β-TeO_(2) samples arise. In this Letter, we employ density functional theory calculations to illustrate that TeO_(2), whether in its bulk forms of α-, β-, or γ-TeO_(2), or in the 2D β-TeO_(2) nanosheets, inherently exhibits insulating properties and poses challenges in carrier doping due to its shallow conduction band minimum and deep valence band maximum. Our findings shed light on the insulating properties and doping difficulty of TeO_(2), contrasting with the claimed p-type conductivity in the 2D β-TeO_(2) samples, prompting inquiries into the true origin of the p-type conductivity.展开更多
Raman spectroscopy offers a great power to detect,analyze and identify molecules,and monitor their temporal dynamics and evolution when combined with single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SM-SERS)substrate...Raman spectroscopy offers a great power to detect,analyze and identify molecules,and monitor their temporal dynamics and evolution when combined with single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SM-SERS)substrates.Here we present a SM-SERS scheme that involves simultaneously giant chemical enhancement from WS22D materials,giant electromagnetic enhancement from plasmonic nanogap hot spot,and inhibition of molecular fluorescence influence under near-infrared laser illumination.Remarkably we find Coulomb attraction between analyte and gold nanoparticle can trigger spontaneous formation of molecule-hotspot pairing with high precision,stability and robustness.The scheme has enabled realization of universal,robust,fast,and large-scale uniform SM-SERS detection for three Raman molecules of rhodamine B,rhodamine 6G,and crystal violet with a very low detection limit of 10−16 M and at a very fast spectrum acquisition time of 50 ms.展开更多

The fall armyworm(Spodoptera frugiperda)is an invasive species and a destructive pest of maize,which significantly impacts native species and communities via complex mechanisms like competition for resources.However,t...The fall armyworm(Spodoptera frugiperda)is an invasive species and a destructive pest of maize,which significantly impacts native species and communities via complex mechanisms like competition for resources.However,the interaction between S.frugiperda and local pests remains unclear.In this study,we determined that Oriental armyworm(Mythimna separata)females with different mating status displayed different approach-avoidance behaviors towards maize which was infested by S.frugiperda larvae.The virgin M.separata females were repelled,while the mated females were attracted by the S.frugiperda-infested maize.To further understand the olfactory mechanism of this phenomenon,seven volatiles induced by S.frugiperda in maize were characterized by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry(GC-MS),including trans-2-hexenal,linalool,trans-β-farnesene,cis-3-hexenyl acetate,β-caryophyllene,trans-α-bergamotene,and isopentyl acetate.Additionally,electrophysiological and behavioral assays of the seven compounds were performed using both virgin and mated females of M.separata.We determined that virgin and mated females displayed different responses to the herbivore-induced plant volatile(HIPV).Trans-β-farnesene was the core compound for repelling virgin females,and trans-2-hexenal was the key attractant for oviposition in mated female M.separata individuals.These findings help our comprehension of the relationships between maize pests and offer new possibilities for controlling them by olfactory-based strategies.展开更多

However, existing ultramicroelectrodes(UMEs) suffer from narrow...For nano-collision, regulating the interaction between nanoparticles(NPs) and electrode interfaces is crucial for the precise analysis of individual NPs. However, existing ultramicroelectrodes(UMEs) suffer from narrow electrochemical window and poor electrode interface adhesion, severely hindering the application of precise single NP analysis. Here, we propose a simple and effective interface modification strategy. By electrochemically self-assembling poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)(PC) on the surface of carbon nanocone electrodes(CNCEs), we successfully prepared PC-modified CNCEs(PC–CNCEs). These electrodes not only possess sufficiently wide electrochemical window but also exhibit strong adhesion to negatively charged Ag NPs on their surfaces. Surface physical analysis and electrochemical molecule detection validated the high-density loading of PC on the modified electrodes. Furthermore, the working principle of PC–CNCEs for single Ag NP collision detection was further verified through the techniques of nanocollision and double-potential steps. Leveraging these significant advantages, PC–CNCEs not only achieved precise measurements of single or mixed-sized Ag NPs but also detected Ag NP solutions at concentrations as low as fmol/L levels. The measurement of the pairing gap is crucial for investigating the physical properties of superconductors or superfluids.We propose a strategy to measure the pairing gap through the dynamical excitations.With the ran...The measurement of the pairing gap is crucial for investigating the physical properties of superconductors or superfluids.We propose a strategy to measure the pairing gap through the dynamical excitations.With the random phase approximation(RPA),we study the dynamical excitations of a two-dimensional attractive Fermi-Hubbard model by calculating its dynamical structure factor.Two distinct collective modes emerge:a Goldstone phonon mode at transferred momentum q=[0,0]and a roton mode at q=[p,p].The roton mode exhibits a sharp molecular peak in the low-energy regime.Notably,the area under the roton molecular peak scales with the square of the pairing gap,which holds even in three-dimensional and spin-orbit coupled(SOC)optical lattices.This finding suggests an experimental approach to measure the pairing gap in lattice systems by analyzing the dynamical structure factor at q=[p,p].展开更多
Dynamical systems often exhibit multiple attractors representing significantly different functioning conditions.A global map of attraction basins can offer valuable guidance for stabilizing or transitioning system sta...Dynamical systems often exhibit multiple attractors representing significantly different functioning conditions.A global map of attraction basins can offer valuable guidance for stabilizing or transitioning system states.Such a map can be constructed without prior system knowledge by identifying attractors across a sufficient number of points in the state space.However,determining the attractor for each initial state can be a laborious task.Here,we tackle the challenge of reconstructing attraction basins using as few initial points as possible.In each iteration of our approach,informative points are selected through random seeding and are driven along the current classification boundary,promoting the eventual selection of points that are both diverse and enlightening.The results across various experimental dynamical systems demonstrate that our approach requires fewer points than baseline methods while achieving comparable mapping accuracy.Additionally,the reconstructed map allows us to accurately estimate the minimum escape distance required to transition the system state to a target basin.展开更多

Leveraging these significant advantages, PC–CNCEs not only achieved precise measurements of single or mixed-sized Ag NPs but also detected Ag NP solutions at concentrations as low as fmol/L levels. This advancement offers a new strategy for the rapid and precise analysis of NP colloids.

文摘The measurement of the pairing gap is crucial for investigating the physical properties of superconductors or superfluids.We propose a strategy to measure the pairing gap through the dynamical excitations.With the random phase approximation(RPA),we study the dynamical excitations of a two-dimensional attractive Fermi-Hubbard model by calculating its dynamical structure factor.Two distinct collective modes emerge:a Goldstone phonon mode at transferred momentum q=[0,0]and a roton mode at q=[p,p].The roton mode exhibits a sharp molecular peak in the low-energy regime.Notably,the area under the roton molecular peak scales with the square of the pairing gap,which holds even in three-dimensional and spin-orbit coupled(SOC)optical lattices.This finding suggests an experimental approach to measure the pairing gap in lattice systems by analyzing the dynamical structure factor at q=[p,p].

文摘Dynamical systems often exhibit multiple attractors representing significantly different functioning conditions.A global map of attraction basins can offer valuable guidance for stabilizing or transitioning system states.Such a map can be constructed without prior system knowledge by identifying attractors across a sufficient number of points in the state space.However,determining the attractor for each initial state can be a laborious task.Here,we tackle the challenge of reconstructing attraction basins using as few initial points as possible.In each iteration of our approach,informative points are selected through random seeding and are driven along the current classification boundary,promoting the eventual selection of points that are both diverse and enlightening.The results across various experimental dynamical systems demonstrate that our approach requires fewer points than baseline methods while achieving comparable mapping accuracy.Additionally,the reconstructed map allows us to accurately estimate the minimum escape distance required to transition the system state to a target basin.
文摘Every year,during the rainy season,a scenic road winding through China's Poyang Lake like a mythical(虚构的)dragon becomes flooded,offering a unique driving and visual experience.Yongwu Road is the only stretch of road connecting Wucheng,one of the oldest townships in China,to neighboring townships and counties.Part of the X219 county road,this 5.05 km piece of infrastructure was built straight through Poyang Lake,China's largest freshwater lake,making it one of the most famous tourist attractions of Jiangxi Province.But Yongwu Road is most popular with tourists at the onset of the rainy season,during spring when the water level starts rising.When the level of the surrounding lake reaches about 18.6 meters,water submerges(淹没)part of the road,turning Yongwu Road into“China's most beautiful road under the water”
