The averaged net reproductive number is introduced as the main parameter to determine the dynamical behaviors of the model. The existence of a global parameterized branch of periodic solutions of the model is obtained by using the contracting mapping theorem in a periodic and continuous function space. The global stability of the trivial equilibrium is studied and a very practical stability criteria for the model is obtained. The dynamics of the linear time-periodic model is similar to that of the linear model.展开更多

The presented model is very useful but quite complicated. Modified variational iteration method (MVIM) coupled with auxiliary parameter is used to cope with the complexity of the model which subse- quently shows better results as compared to some existing results available in literature. Furthermore, an appropriate way is used for the identification of auxiliary parameter by means of residual function. Numerical examples are presented for the analysis of the pro- posed algorithm. Graphical results along with the discussions re-confirm the efficiency of proposed algorithm. The work proposes a new algorithm where He's polynomials and an auxiliary parameter are merged with correction functional. The suggested scheme is implemented on nonlinear age-structured population models. Graphs are plotted for the residual function that reflects the accuracy and convergence of the presented algorithm.展开更多

This paper develops the flexibility of Haar wavelet method for reduction of the partial differential equation with nonlocal boundary conditions to an algebraic system. In fact, the simple structure of piecewise orthogonM Haar basis functions which leads to sparse matrices causes the convergence and com- putational efficiency. Though the rate of population increase has been regarded as a concerning issue, estimation of the population instability in the upcoming years may be useful for national planning. To predict Bangladesh’s future population, this study compares the estimated populations of two popular population models, the Malthusian and the logistic population models, with the country’s census population published by BBS. We also tried to find out which model gives a better approximation for forecasting the past, present, and future population between these two models.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of tooth loss on blood pressure among Congolese population. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2019 until December 2023 among Congolese population aged at least 30 years reporting to the living in DR Congo. All participants were enrolled from Dental Clinic located in the DR Congo. To be eligible to participate in the study, were the willing to participate and having signed informed consent;had a missing tooth;had carried out blood pressure measurement (hypertension/normotensive). The exclusion criteria were determined: being less than 30 years old, being pregnant for women considering the risk of existing gestational hypertension, obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, and diabetes. Hypertension was defined as the mean of three measurements of systolic blood pressure (SBP) (140 mmHg or higher), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (90 mm or higher) or physician diagnosed hypertension confirmed from medical records. We determined the number of tooth loss from oral examination. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to investigate the effect of tooth loss on blood pressure. Results: In all, 25,396 participants were enrolled among Congolese population for this study. After oral examination, 13,421 were excluded for no tooth loss and 11,975 participants were selected. The average number of tooth loss among study population was 11.06. Among the participants with hypertension had lost an average of 11 teeth, significantly higher than those without hypertension (6.09) (p = 0.001). After adjusting for covariates (socio-demographic characteristics), tooth loss (>10) was significantly associated with hypertension, with OR = 1.32 (95% CI 1.073 - 2.38). Conclusion: Tooth loss maybe associated with severe hypertension among Congolese population adults. Prevention of tooth loss is very important to the overall health of this population.展开更多

文摘Background: Tooth loss results in impaired mastication, which in turn, makes it difficult to chew hard food, consequently leading to deteriorate dietary habits and to develop hypertension. Prevention of tooth loss is very important to the overall health of this population.

文摘Microsatellite markers with polymorphic advantages are widely used in the exploration and utilization of marine fishery resources. In this study,16 polymorphic microsatellite markers were used to evaluate the diversity and population structure of Setipinna tenuifilis,a nearshore fish of economic and ecological value in the western Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. The genetic diversity of S.tenuifilis showed a high level[mean Na(number of alleles)is 23.25,mean Ho(observed heterozygosity)is 0.639,mean R_(a)(allelic richness)is 11.625,and the polymorphic information content(PIC)is 0.844]similar to other Clupeiformes fish species. The nine wild S.tenuifilis populations showed significant differentiation(F_(ST)ranging from 0.00384 to 0.19346)and were generally divided into southern and northern populations based on genetic structure, except for the Zhoushan population, which exhibited genetic mixture. Our results provide fundamental but significant genetic insights for the management and conservation of S.tenuifilis fishery resources.
文摘Bees are essential to human life and ecosystems, significantly contributing to medicine, economics, and environmental equilibrium.Bees serve an essential function as pollinators, facilitating the cultivation of various fruits and vegetables.Bees contribute approximately 117 billion US dollars annually to the economy through their role in crop pollination. They have a direct impact on 35%of agricultural crops and 84%of cultivated plants.Bee products, including honey, propolis, and royal jelly, have been utilized in various traditional medicine practices across numerous countries. These substances have been utilized for their anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and antibacterial properties. In addition to their economic, ecological, and medical significance, they serve as bioindicators for assessing the health of ecological systems by monitoring distribution and population dynamics. This offers important insights into the current situation, especially regarding the substantial impacts of climate change on the environment. This article seeks to synthesize data from various studies to examine the impact of climate change on bee populations and their habitats. This study illustrates the significant effects of future climate models for 2050 and 2070 on bee distribution, resulting in the decline of specific species populations.

文摘This letter demonstrates an experimental approach to measuring the angular-momentum-resolved population of excited states in laser-produced argon ions.By measuring the spectra of free induction decay emissions corresponding to the resonant transitions between Rydberg states, the relative population of the Rydberg states is obtained with known Einstein A-coefficients.This study deepens the mechanistic understanding of coherent dynamics in laser-driven ionic excited states, and establishes experimental benchmarks essential for validating and refining advanced quantum kinetic models in strong-field physics.

文摘The correct understanding of fish population structure plays a positive role in their fishery management. The dotted gizzard shad,Konosirus punctatus,is widely distributed in the coastal waters of the northwestern Pacific. With the over-exploitation of economically important fishes, its importance is increasingly prominent. To further examine the population genetic structure of K.punctatus across the northwestern Pacific, the amplified fragment length polymorphism(AFLP)and the inter-simple sequence repeats(ISSRs)were employed to perform genetic variation analysis. The results showed that the combination of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and silver staining can effectively detect genetic variation for K.punctatus populations. The average proportions of polymorphic loci were 46.26%and 87.13%for AFLP and ISSR markers, respectively, and the genetic diversity parameters showed no obvious differences among populations. Both analysis molecular variance(AMOVA)and pairwise F_(st)suggested that there was significant genetic differentiation between Chinese and Japanese populations. All samples also clustered into two clades based on the unweighted pair-group method analysis(UPGMA)tree by two markers, which indicated significant genetic differentiation among populations.Consistent with the previous studies, there are two highly differentiated groups at the nuclear gene level and they were suggested to be treated as two separate genetic management units. The results of the present study could provide the genetic management strategy for this important economic species.

文摘Objective:Pathologic complete response(pCR)following neoadjuvant therapy(NAT)for gastric cancer(GC)is rare but associated with a favorable prognosis. This study aims to reassess the optimal response population(ORP)following NAT by evaluating the prognostic outcomes associated with various T and N stages, utilizing multicenter data from China. Methods:Patients who underwent NAT following radical gastrectomy at 10 tertiary hospitals in China between2008 and 2021 were included. The ORP was introduced to explore the disease-free survival(DFS),overall survival(OS),recurrence patterns, and influencing factors following propensity score matching(PSM).Results:A total of 1,076 patients were enrolled in this study(median follow-up period:60 months). We defined ORP as a pCR or tumor infiltration of the mucosal or submucosal layer without lymph node metastasis(pCR or yp T1N0)after NAT.The ORP group comprised 136 patients(12.6%),while the non-ORP group comprised 940patients(87.4%).After applying a 1:4 PSM,we obtained an ORP group of 136 patients and non-ORP group of 544patients.Survival analysis demonstrated that both the 3-year OS(before PSM:89.0%vs.55.0%,P<0.001;after PSM:89.0%vs.55.4%,P<0.001)and DFS(before PSM:85.8%vs.49.7%,P<0.001;after PSM:85.8%vs.50.6%,P<0.001)were significantly superior in the ORP group compared to that in the non-ORP group.Remarkably, adjuvant chemotherapy did not impact the prognosis of patients in the ORP group(3-year OS:89.0%vs.89.7%,P=0.988;3-year DFS:84.9%vs.89.7%,P=0.700).Conclusions:This study reevaluates patients with ORP following NAT,providing a more comprehensive and accurate depiction of the potential beneficiary group and survival outcomes in patients with locally advanced GC.
文摘BACKGROUND Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)is an essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedure for pancreatobiliary disorders. However, few large-scale studies from South Asia have examined long-term ERCP outcomes, particularly using established quality benchmarks.AIM To evaluate ERCP indications, success rates, complications, and quality performance at a high-volume tertiary care center in Pakistan over a 17-year period.METHODS This retrospective study analyzed 13215 ERCP procedures performed between 2006 and 2023.Data included demographics, indications, cannulation rates, complications, and pediatric cases.Findings were assessed against American Society of Gastroenterology/European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy quality indicators.RESULTS Biliary ERCP accounted for 93.1%of procedures;choledocholithiasis was the most common indication(40%).Cannulation success was 93.9%for biliary and 94.2%for pancreatic ERCP.Pediatric ERCP comprised 4%of cases, mostly for stones and chronic pancreatitis.Bleeding(1.7%)and post-ERCP pancreatitis(2.3%)were the most frequent complications.Performance met or exceeded most American Society of Benchmarks.CONCLUSION This study offers insight into nearly two decades of ERCP practice within a public sector hospital. Our experience echoes the quality and efficiency of ERCP not previously available in Pakistan. As healthcare systems in resourcelimited sectors expand, our findings serve as a reference point.Continued training and quality improvement studies can further enhance ERCP effectiveness in the region and beyond.
