Understanding Academic Evaluation Anxiety in Portuguese Adolescents:A Psychosocial and Educational Perspective

bjectives:Academic Evaluation Anxiety is a significant psychological concern among adolescents,with well-documented impacts on academic performance,emotional well-being,and school engagement.In Portugal,recent evidenc... bjectives:Academic Evaluation Anxiety is a significant psychological concern among adolescents,with well-documented impacts on academic performance,emotional well-being,and school engagement.In Portugal,recent evidence suggests growing pressure on students to achieve high academic standards,with psychosocial variables such as resilience,perceived support,and school environment playing a crucial role.This study aims to examine the prevalence and psychosocial predictors of Academic Evaluation Anxiety in Portuguese students,and to identify risk and protective factors that inform educational practice.Methods:This cross-sectional,quantitative study analysed data from 3083 students(5th to 12th grade)from the 2024 National Study by the Observatory of Psychological Health and Well-Being.Validated instruments were used,including the Depression,Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 items(DASS-21),the Social and Emotional Skills Scale(SSES),the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children(HBSC)psychological symptoms and well-being indices,the Positive Youth Development(PYD)scale,and the School Environment Scale.Statistical analyses included descriptive measures,one-way ANOVAs,and multivariate linear regression.Results:Academic Evaluation Anxiety was significantly higher among female students(Mean=2.80,SD=0.93)compared to male students(Mean=2.16,SD=1.10),representing approximately 30%higher mean levels of anxiety in girls(F=306.206,p<0.001).Resilience(β=−0.38,p<0.001),self-confidence(β=−0.07,p=0.02),and creativity(β=−0.06,p=0.01)emerged as protective factors,whereas cooperation(β=0.23,p<0.001),teacher relationships(β=0.08,p<0.001),bullying(β=0.07,p<0.001),and school environment(β=0.05,p=0.03)were positively associated with anxiety levels.Conclusions:Academic Evaluation Anxiety is highly prevalent among Portuguese adolescents,with girls reporting significantly higher levels than boys.Resilience,self-confidence,and creativity act as protective factors,while bullying,teacher relationships,cooperation,and negative school climate increase vulnerability.These findings highlight the need for whole-school strategies that strengthen socio-emotional competencies and create psychologically safe learning environments to support both well-being and academic success. 展开更多

It put forward precise requirements and made specific deployments to improve the scientific research assessment and evaluation system, which pointed out the direction for reforming the academic evaluation system in legal studies. HR Index and CHR Index:Two new literature measurement composite indexes——Taking the evaluation of academic journals as an example

In academic evaluation, some composite evaluation indexes, for example, quantity, quality and prestige, have the advantages of a large amount of information and unique results. First, in this paper, two composite evaluation indexes are proposed, i.e., the HR index and the CHR index,where the HR index is based on the evaluation of prestige and quality, and the CHR index is based on the evaluation of prestige, quality and quantity. Second, two methods are proposed for testing the HR and CHR indexes. One is to test the principles, i.e., the self-interpretation degree of the results to the principle, by means of partial least squares regression. The other is the analysis of the evaluation results, including the relationships between the composite index and other bibliometric indicators, such as the order of magnitude and distinction and the data distribution of evaluation value, etc. Empirical studies are also conducted. The CSSCI periodicals of the CNKI Library Information and Document Science are employed to test the proposed HR and CHR indexes. Empirical analyses find that the HR index and the CHR index are good evaluation indicators that have broad application and can be used in many aspects, such as scholar, institutional and subject evaluations. 展开更多

The emergence of new data has always been a major force driving the advance of informetrics. The magnitude of data usage for academic literature, given by the Web of Science(Wo S), can be expected to provide a supplementary perspective for citation analysis in three theoretical aspects, which are influence dimension, discipline difference and behavioral motive. Based on 166,767 articles in physics, computer science, economics, and Library and Information Science included by SCI and SSCI in 2013 as research samples, this paper conducts an exploratory investigation into the measurement features of the usage data. According to the results, compared with citation data, usage is more discriminative and sensitive. In terms of distribution, usage presents an approximate and positively skewed distribution at high-frequency. An approximate power-law distribution is observed in the cumulative integral. The evaluation result of usage is independent to a certain degree and poses no essential opposition to the result of citation. Although the usage of the Wo S platform still has the limitations of generality, falsifiability and isolation, usage may be accepted as one of the possible options that supplement citation data and provide a richer field of vision for influence evaluation.
