This article firstly sums up several m...Sentence similarity computing plays an important role in machine question-answering systems, machine-translation systems, information retrieval and automatic abstracting systems. This article firstly sums up several methods for calculating similarity between sentences, and brings out a new method which takes all factors into consideration including critical words, semantic information, sentential form and sen-tence length. And on this basis, a automatic abstracting system based on LexRank algorithm is implemented. We made several improvements in both sentence weight computing and redundancy resolution. The system described in this article could deal with single or multi-document summarization both in English and Chinese. With evaluations on two corpuses, our system could produce better summaries to a certain degree. We also show that our system is quite insensitive to the noise in the data that may result from an imperfect topical clustering of documents. And in the end, existing problem and the developing trend of automatic summariza-tion technology are discussed.展开更多

Ge-ometries were fully optimized at SCF level and energies were computed at STO-3G basis set for reactants and transition state. Vibrational analysis was performed thereupon. Finally, the rate constant calculations were carried out at different temperatures for all range of reaction temperature according to Eyring's sbwlute reaction rate theory. The calculated activation energy is 12. 68 kcal/mol, lower than observed value (H. S kcal/mol) by 1. 82 kcal/mol only. The agreement of the calculated rate constants with the experiments is satisfactory.展开更多

The information in Internet is out of order and is mostly written in natural languages which need to be processed by the technology of natural language processing. When you search for some certain information on Internet through a search engine, you might be confused by the huge amount of results which the search engine provides. However, if a search engine is embedded with Automatic Abstracting (AA) processing systems, you could locate the information quickly or you could get more information within a limited time. So, the AA technology is valuable both in science and application. The work of this thesis was begun when we took over a project that is called 'The Key Technology Research of Computer Networks Providing Intelligent Information Services' which belongs to the national 863 plan. One of the tasks is 'The Key Technology Research of Automatic Abstracting Systems of Chinese Text'. As a member of this research group, I took part in designing and implementing an AA system called Literature Abstract and Digest Information Extract System(LADIES). From then on, I have been working in this field and this paper is the conclusion of my work. The main topic of the thesis is AA technology. There are two parts of it. One is about the research of understanding based AA systems, and the other is about the invcestigation of Automatic Knowledge Acquistion(AKA) in AA systems. In the first part, the contents of AA technology are introduced and an understanding based AA model is put forward. Based on this model, LADIES is implemented. There are two major features of LADIES: (1) it understands text with the grammar, semantic and pragmatic information of words; (2) it chunks words into a relatively independent entity with chunking rules which are substitutes of syntactic analyzing rules. The results demonstrate that it performs better than those statistical based AA systems. However, the application of LADIES is limited for its knowledge bases. And it is difficult to use in other fields because the knowledge bases are setup manually. So we investigate the techniques of automatic knowledge acquisition in order to solve the above problems to some extent. In the second part, we introduce the basic ideas of AKA and some Machine Learning (ML) methods which AKA applies. Then we propose a comprehensive dictionary model that contains grammar, semantic and pragmatic information of words. And we investigate a strategy of automatic learning pragmatic information for words. Also we put forward another strategy of automatic learning rule of salience sentences in texts and based on it, we establish an AA system LADIES NEW. Eventually, we suggest a AKA based AA system model called hierarchical feature extracting AA system model.展开更多

The method makes use of text clustering and can realize automatic abstracting of multi-documents. The algo- rithm of twice word segmentation based on the title and first sentences in paragraphs is investigated. Its precision and recall is above 95 %. For a specific domain on plastics, an automatic abstracting system named TCAAS is implemented. The precision and recall of multi-document’s automatic ab- stracting is above 75 %. Also, the experiments prove that it is feasible to use the method to develop a domain automatic abstracting system, which is valuable for further in-depth study.展开更多

This study systematically analyzes the genre structure and linguistic features of 42 English abstracts from six internationally renowned medical journals,based on the revised CARS model proposed by Swales.The research...This study systematically analyzes the genre structure and linguistic features of 42 English abstracts from six internationally renowned medical journals,based on the revised CARS model proposed by Swales.The research findings indicate that medical abstracts typically follow a three-step structure:“Establishing a Research Territory-Establishing a Research Niche-Occupying the Niche”,where the steps“Research Purpose”and“Research Results”are the most frequently utilized,forming the core content of the abstracts.Within the sequence of moves,81%conform to conventional patterns,while a minority of samples exhibit unconventional structures such as inversion,cycling,and repetition.In terms of linguistic features,the present simple tense and active voice are predominantly used,reflecting the universality of the research and the author’s agency;conversely,the simple past tense and passive voice are primarily employed to describe research methods and processes.This study reveals the writing conventions of medical abstracts,providing empirical evidence and genre reference for non-native scholars in the preparation and publication of their work in international journals.展开更多
