The diluted solution of 9-anthrylmethyl dodecanoate in aqueous organic binary mixed solvents exhibits strong excimer fluorescence. Photoirradiation of this solution results in the dimerization of the anthracene nucleus at 9, 10-positions to form almost exclusively the head-to-head (h-h) dimer. This is contrary to the photodimerization in organic solvents, where the major product is the head-to-tail (h-t) dimer. 展开更多
