With theoretic calculation and PSPICE simulation, the paper proves that the linear AND-OR gates can work at super-high-speed and can be multi-cascaded. On the basis of analyzing the high-speed switch units which coordinate with linear AND-OR gates, two kinds of emitter coupled logic circuits are designed. The paper also discusses the design principles of super-high-speed digital circuits, and some examples of combinational and sequential circuits using linear AND-OR gate are given.展开更多

The logic tile,which consists of a logic cluster and related connection boxes (CBs), can be configured as either programmable logic arrays (PLAs) or look-up tables (LUTs), This architecture can be classified as an AND-LUT array. PLAs are suitable for the implementation of high fan-in logic circuits, while LUTs are used to implement low fan-in logic circuits. As a result, the proposed hybrid FPGA architecture (HFA) is more flexible to improve logic density. Experiments based on MCNC benchmark circuits were performed in both the hybrid architecture and conventional LUT-based symmetrical FPGA architecture in term of area consumption. Preliminary results indicate that on average, the area is reduced by 46% using the new hybrid architecture.展开更多

To efficiently solve the materialized view selection problem, an optimal genetic algorithm of how to select a set of views to be materialized is proposed so as to achieve both good query performance and low view maint...To efficiently solve the materialized view selection problem, an optimal genetic algorithm of how to select a set of views to be materialized is proposed so as to achieve both good query performance and low view maintenance cost under a storage space constraint. First, a pre-processing algorithm based on the maximum benefit per unit space is used to generate initial solutions. Then, the initial solutions are improved by the genetic algorithm having the mixture of optimal strategies. Furthermore, the generated infeasible solutions during the evolution process are repaired by loss function. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the heuristic algorithm and canonical genetic algorithm in finding optimal solutions.展开更多

Furthermore, a novel multiple-β transistor and the linear AND-OR gate, which is composed of the transistor, are investigated. Super high-speed characteristic and multiple-cascade capability of the linear AND-OR gate are verified by PSPICE simulation. Based on the analysis of high-speed switch, which is compatible with the linear AND-OR gate, a high-speed inverter is proposed, which is composed of multiple-β transistors. The corresponding flip-flop design is also given. Finally, the criterion for using linear AND-OR gate to design high-speed switching circuits are presented. Some combinational and sequential circuits are designed as the practical examples. Discussion indicates that the switching circuits based on multiple-β transistor can be applied in high-speed design field.展开更多
