By making comparison between the two dictionaries in the learner's and compiler's perspectives, it high-lights the priority of the 4th edition in content and compilation. Following a brief introduction in Part 1, Part 2 examines the innovations the 3rd edition has made in verb-pattern scheme, compounds, entries, examples, adjectives and appendices from the learner's perspective. Part3 holds a theoretical discussion of prescription and description in the 4th edition.展开更多

The scope of this study was to measure even minor pressure differencesin the anastomosis of TCPC patients, who are clinically uncompromised. Methods: Twenty-four patients(median 15 years [8;34]) with TCPC were studied prospectively by 4D-flow MRI. Pressure differences betweensuperior vena cava (SVC) and extracardiac conduit (C) to both right pulmonary artery (RPA) and left pulmonaryartery (LPA) were assessed. Small fluid obstructions as vortices within the anastomosis were detected by flowpathlines from 4D-flow MRI. In two patients pressure differences were calculated also by computational flowdynamics (CFD) as a plausibility check for the order of magnitude. Results: Median values of pressure differencesin the anastomosis between SVC and RPA were 0.63 (0.21–2.1) mmHg, between C and RPA 0.67 (0.3–2.2)mmHg, between SVC and LPA 0.8 (0.3–2.4) mmHg and between C and LPA 0.7 (0.2–1.9) mmHg. Patients withpotential flow obstruction (stents, occluder, vortices) had significantly higher gradients at the anastomosis (p <0.05) than patients without potential obstructions, although the absolute values were small. CFD- and measurement-based pressure difference showed good agreement. Conclusion: 4D-flow MRI is able to detect minor pressuredifferences within the Fontan circuit even in patients with apparently satisfactory TCPC. Slightly higherpressure differences are due to the presence of small flow obstruction.展开更多

The effects of growth conditions on E2 (TO), E1 (TO) and A1 (LO) phonon mode frequencies are negligible. The temperature dependences of phonon linewidth and lifetime of E2 (TO) modes are analyzed in terms of an anharmonic damping effect induced by thermal and growth conditions. The results show that the lifetime of E2 (TO) mode increases when the quality of the sample improves. Unlike other phone modes, Raman shift of A1 (longitudinal optical plasma coupling (LOPC)) mode does not decrease monotonously when the temperature increases, but tends to blueshift at low temperatures and to redshift at relatively high temperatures. Theoretical analyses are given for the abnormal phenomena of A1 (LOPC) mode in 4H-SiC.展开更多

One hundred twenty one healthy volunteers (61 male and 60 female;aged 18 - 50 years) were included in the study. Subjects were administered a single 4-mg repaglinide oral dose. Blood samples were taken at 0, 30, 60, 120, 180 and 240 min. Serum repaglinide levels were determined by a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. Subjects were also genotyped by polymerase chain reactions - restriction fragment length polymorphisms (PCR-RFLP) for CYP3A4*4, *5 and *18 alleles and by an allele-specific multiplex PCR for CYP2C8*2, *3, *4 and *5 alleles. The pharmacokinetics of repaglinide were comparable between male and female subjects. The mean clearance (CL) of repaglinide was 16.0% lower (p = 0.03), the mean area under the serum concentration-time curve (AUC) was 12.8% higher (p = 0.04) and the peak serum concentration (Cmax) was 13.2% higher (p = 0.03) in females compared to male subjects. The mean rate of elimination (kel) and mean CL of repaglinide were 47.67% (p = 0.03) higher and 29.25% (p = 0.03) higher, respectively, in male subjects having CYP2C8*5 allele compared to female subjects. We also found that the mean half-life (t1/2) of repaglinide was 42.43% higher (p = 0.03), and the mean AUC was 35.83% higher (p = 0.03) in female subjects when compared to the male subjects having CYP2C8*5 allele. Sex differences significantly influence the pharmacokinetics of repaglinide.展开更多
