Here two specially designed cascaded up-tapers with maximum diameters of 247 μm and 251 μm, respectively, are used as a cladding mode exciting component. The excited cladding modes will propagate in the cladding and re-couplers with the core mode at the core-offset jointing point. When the curvature is changed, the dip wavelength of the sensor will shift to a blue wavelength and an average curvature sensitivity of more than -12.5 nm/m^-1 is achieved within the measured curvature intervals.展开更多

However conventional methods may fail to simulate realistic wavefields in environments with great and rapid structural changes, due for instance to the presence of shadow zones, diffractions and/or edge effects. Different methods, developed to improve seismic model- ing, are typically tested on synthetic configurations against analytical solutions for simple canonical problems or ref- erence methods, or via direct comparison with real data acquired in situ. Such approaches have limitations, especially if the propagation occurs in a complex envi- ronment with strong-contrast reflectors and surface irreg- ularities, as it can be difficult to determine the method which gives the best approximation of the "real" solution, or to interpret the results obtained without an a priori knowledge of the geologic environment. An alternative approach for seismics consists in comparing the synthetic data with high-quality data collected in laboratory experi- ments under controlled conditions for a known configuration. In contrast with numerical experiments, laboratory data possess many of the characteristics of field data, as real waves propagate through models with no numerical approximations. We thus present a comparison of laboratory-scaled measurements of 3D zero-offset wave reflection of broadband pulses from a strong topographic environment immersed in a water tank with numerical data simulated by means of a spectral-element method and a discretized Kirchhoff integral method. The results indicate a good quantitative fit in terms of time arrivals and acceptable fit in amplitudes for all datasets.展开更多

It includes a low offset Op-Amp and a high precision current reference. With a novel continuous-time DC offset rejection scheme, the IC achieves lower offset voltage and lower power consumption compared to previous designs. This configuration rejects large DC offset and drift that exist at the skin-electrode interface without the need of external components. The proposed amplifier has been implemented in SMIC 0.18-μm 1P6M CMOS technol-ogy, with an active silicon area of 100 μm by 120 μm. The back-annotated simulation results demonstrated the circuit features the systematic offset voltage less than 80 μV, the offset drift about 0.27 μV/℃ for temperature ranging from –30℃ to 100℃ and the total power dissipation consumed as low as 37.8 μW from a 1.8 V single supply. It dedicated to monitor low amplitude biomedical signals recording.展开更多

Once the center of 1H is referenced, all the offsets in other dimensions are automatically determined and the centers of the spectral widths provide accurate indirect references. Since the scale in ppm is independent of the magnetic field strength, the AOR does not require manually updating carrier frequencies from time to time, making the multidimensional NMR experiments greatly simplified and reliable. It is extremely valuable when molecules need to be run a large number of experiments at different times and the data (chemical shifts, for example) need to be compared with each other. In AOR, the error arising from improper referencing of 1H is handed down in the same amount to the other nuclei being referenced. This error-inheritance provides a measure of accuracy in indirect referencing. The temperature dependence of the frequency ratio of DSS is derived with the first-order approximation and it can be used for temperature dependent AOR. For nuclei other than 13C, certain frequency ratios regarding TMS need to be derived (rather than measured) based on the recommended frequency ratios of DSS, thus avoiding conflicts and unifying the two standards.展开更多

The waves can be considered as a special multicarrier different from traditional ones. The sub-waves in a coded word’s period of the POOW are sine waves and have the same frequencies, but different starting phases. The most important characteristic is that these sub-waves are the piecewise functions and not orthogonal in a code word period. The decoding can be implemented by solving a linear equation group. This code has very high efficiency and thus the data transmission rate is increased greatly.展开更多

The proposed VGA is composed of a variable gain block, an exponential voltage generator, a DC-offset canceller with common-mode voltage correction, and a gain peaking block. To achieve the broad band and reduce the chip area, the gain peaking block employs an inductor-less gain peaking scheme to compensate the high frequency gain drop of the variable gain block and the DC-offset canceller. The VGA fabricated in 0.13μm SiGe BiCMOS technology achieves a 3-dB bandwidth of 7.5 GHz and a variable gain range from -10 to 30 dB. Due to the inductor-less design, the die area is only 0.53 - 0.27 mm&2 which is the smallest among other similar reported works. At 10-Gb/s, the VGA consumes 50 mW power from a single 1.2 V supply and exhibits an output data jitter of less than 30 pSpp.展开更多
