The effect of hot deformation onα-phase precipitation during the subsequent heat treatment,as well as the mechanical properties of TB18 Ti-alloy,was investigated.Results show that the round bar obtained by the dual-phase field forging of the cast ingot exhibits uniform composition distribution on its cross-section.However,various degrees of deformation are detected at different positions on the cross-section,which is attributed to the characteristics of the forging process.Under the forging condition,the microstructure is mainly composed ofβ-phase matrix and coarsened discontinuous primaryα-phases.After solution and following artificial aging treatment,the primaryα-phases disappear,while needle-like secondaryα-phases precipitate in the matrix.Additionally,dispersed white zones are observed in the samples after aging,which are analyzed to be the precipitation-free zones of secondaryα-phase.Despite a uniform compositional distribution among various regions,these dispersed white zones exhibit higher content and larger size in the positions that have undergone lower forging deformation.It indicates that the insufficient forging deformation inhibits the precipitation of the secondaryα-phase,ultimately resulting in the lower strengthening effect by heat treatment.Thus,consistent with the characteristics of the forging process,a periodic variation of sample in strength is detected along the circumferential direction of the forged round bar. 展开更多

Highly oriented poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)ultrathin films with differentβ-phase contents were prepared using the melt-draw method.The effect ofβ-phase content onα-βphase transition of highly oriented PVDF ultrathin films induced by stretching was investigated using transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy.The results show that stretching can enhance the crystallinity and increase the average thickness of the lamellae.A fullα-βphase transition can be achieved for PVDF ultrathin films of 20.6%βphase stretched to aλ(stretching ratio)of 1.5,while fewαphases still exist for ultrathin films of 35.0%βphase,together with bent and tilted lamellae.Compared to thicker PVDF films undergoing stretching-inducedα-βphase transition,the higherα-βphase transition efficiency of the PVDF ultrathin films can be attributed to the parallel aligned lamellar structure.Moreover,a higherβ-phase content can suppressα-βphase transition because of the stress concentration effect ofβ-phase.Ultimately,these results provide valuable insights into the stretching-inducedα-βphase transition of PVDF ultrathin films. 展开更多

The results show that when the drag force between twophasesdepends linearly on their relative velocity, the relative velocity profile in the pipeline coincides with Darcy's law except for the thin layer region near the pipeline wall, and that the theoretical assumptions in the dense two-phase flow theory mentioned are reasonable. 展开更多

In order to increase the stability of the Mongolia power system, a single-phase automatic reclosing device (SPAR) was introduced on double-circuit power lines built with a size of 330 kV, operating on a voltage of 220 kV and a length of 250 km. These overhead power lines (L-213, L-214) connect the 220/110/35 kV “Songino” substation with the “Mandal” substation and form system networks. This paper presents the challenges encountered when implementing single-phase automatic reclosing (SPAR) devices and compares the changes in power system parameters before and after SPAR deployment for a long 220 kV line. Simulations and analyses were carried out using DIgSILENT PowerFactory software, focusing on rotor angle stability, and the overall impact on the power system during short-circuit faults. The evaluation also utilized measurement data from the Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) to compare system behavior pre- and post-implementation of SPAR. The findings reveal that SPAR significantly enhances system reliability and stability, effectively mitigating the risk of oscillations and stability loss triggered by short circuits. This improvement contributes to a more resilient power system, reducing the potential for disturbances caused by faults. 展开更多

It was found that the unsaturated complex of Cu(II) and benzoic acid (1:1) has strong catalytic effect on the luminol-H2O2 chemiluminescence reaction. The calibration graph is linear over the range of 0.025 ~ 60 g/mL of benzoic acid, with a relative standard deviation of less than 3.0 %, and the detection limit is 0.01礸穖L-1. The proposed method was applied to the determination of benzoic acid content in different pharmaceutical formulations. 展开更多

This work establishes a temperature-controlled sequence function, and a new multi-phase-field model, for liquid- solid-solid multi-phase transformation by coupling the liquid-solid phase transformation model with the solid-solid phase transformation model. Taking an Fe-C alloy as an example, the continuous evolution of a multi-phase transformation is simulated by using this new model. In addition, the growth of grains affected by the grain orientation of the parent phase (generated in liquid-solid phase transformation) in the solid-solid phase transformation is studied. The results show that the morphology of ferrite grains which nucleate at the boundaries of the austenite grains is influenced by the orientation of the parent austenite grains. The growth rate of ferrite grains which nucleate at small-angle austenite grain boundaries is faster than those that nucleate at large-angle austenite grain boundaries. The difference of the growth rate of ferrites grains in different parent phase that nucleate at large-angle austenite grain boundaries, on both sides of the boundaries, is greater than that of ferrites nucleating at small-angle austenite grain boundaries. 展开更多

Liquid-phase and solid-phase microwave irradiations for reduction of graphite oxide

In this paper, two microwave irradiation methods:(i) liquid-phase microwave irradiation(MWI) reduction of graphite oxide suspension dissolved in de-ionized water and N, N-dimethylformamide, respectively, and(ii) solid-phase MWI reduction of graphite oxide powder have been successfully carried out to reduce graphite oxide. The reduced graphene oxide products are thoroughly characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis absorption spectral analysis,and four-point probe conductivity measurements. The results show that both methods can efficiently remove the oxygencontaining functional groups attached to the graphite layers, though the solid-phase MWI reduction method can obtain far more efficiently a higher quality-reduced graphene oxide with fewer defects. The I(D)/I(G) ratio of the solid-phase MWI sample is as low as 0.46, which is only half of that of the liquid-phase MWI samples. The electrical conductivity of the reduced graphene oxide by the solid method reaches 747.9 S/m, which is about 25 times higher than that made by the liquid-phase method. 展开更多

Three-phase NaCl-H_2O fluid inclusions featuring halite dissolution temperature(Tm)higher than vapor bubble disappearance temperature(T_h) are commonly observed in porphyry copper/molybdenum deposits,skarn-type deposits and other magmatic- hydrothermal ore deposits.Based on |ΔV_1|(the absolute value of volume variation of NaCl-H_2O solution in a heating or cooling process of inclusions)= |ΔV_s|(the absolute value of volume variation of the halite crystal in a heating or cooling process of inclusions) and on the principle of conservation of the mass of NaCl and H_2O,we systematically calculated the densities of NaCl-H_2O solutions in the solid-liquid two-phase field for temperatures(T_h) from 0.1℃ to 800℃ and salinities from 26.3 wt%to 99.2wt%.Consequently for the first time we obtained the upper limit of the density of NaCI-H_2O solutions in the solid-liquid twophase field for T_b〈T_m inclusions with variant salinities.The results indicate that for inclusions of the T_h〈T_m type with the same T_h,the higher the T_m or salinity is,the higher the density of the NaClsaturated solution will be.If a group of fluid inclusions were homogeneously trapped,they must have the same T_h value and the same T_m or salinity value.This may be used to distinguish homogeneous,inhomogeneous,and multiple entrapments of fluid inclusions. 展开更多

Various flow patterns behind the cylinder-pair have been identified by the gap ratio (G) and Reynolds number (Re). This study focus on transition of in-phase and anti-phase vortex shedding synchronized forms. A nested Cartesian-grid formulation, in combination with an effective immersed boundary method and a two-step fractional-step procedure, has been adopted to simulate the flows. Numerical results reveal that the in-phase and anti-phase vortex shedding flows at Re = 100 can co-exist at 2.08 ≤G≤ 2.58. Hysteresis loop with increasing/decreasing G at constant Reynolds number Re = 100 is reported. 展开更多

Software reliability modeling and prediction are important issues during software development, especially when one has to reach a desired reliability prior to software release. Various techniques, both static and dynamic, are used for reliability modeling and prediction in the context of software risk management. The single-phase Rayleigh model is a dynamic reliability model;however, it is not suitable for software release date prediction. We propose a new multi-phase truncated Rayleigh model and obtain parameter estimation using the nonlinear least squares method. The proposed model has been successfully tested in a large software company for several software projects. It is shown that the two-phase truncated Rayleigh model outperforms the traditional single-phase Rayleigh model in modeling weekly software defect arrival data. The model is useful for project management in planning release times and defect management. 展开更多

This paper details an investigation of the effects of oxide stringers on theβ-phase depletion behaviour in thermally sprayed CoNiCrAlY coatings.Vacuum Plasma Sprayed(VPS)Co NiCrAlY coatings,which are free of oxide stringers,are used as the reference materials in comparison with High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel(HVOF)sprayed CoNiCrAlY coatings during isothermal oxidation at 1100℃.An outer layer of spinel oxides and an inner layer of alumina are formed in the as-sprayed coatings,while only a single alumina scale is found in the heat-treated coatings.Lessβ-phase depletion occurred in the HVOF coatings than in the VPS coatings.It was found that theβphases tend to coalesce at the oxide stringers in the HVOF coatings,which is likely due to the internal oxide particles and stringers acting as short diffusion barriers to tie up theβphase and inhibit theβ-phase depletion. 展开更多

The σ-phase precipitation in 20% cold-worked 15Cr-15Ni titanium-modified austenitic stainless steel was studied during long-term aging treatment.During the isothermal aging stage,the amount of a-phase was significantly increased at beginning and gradually became constant.The aging time only slightly affected the size and morphology of the σ-phase.Conversely,during the isochronal aging stage,the amount ofσ-phase grew rapidly with the increase in the aging temperature.The σ-phase with a large amount of stacking faults was prone to nucleate around the(Ti,Mo)C particles or at the grain boundaries.The(Ti,Mo)C particles can act as effective nucleation sites,where the σ-phase directly precipitates from the austenitic matrix.From this work,the growth of σ-phase is found to be influenced by the aging temperature,and a new mechanism of σ-phase precipitation from austenite has been proposed. 展开更多

The scales were complex and consistedof an outermost layer of copper oxide generally followed bg a layer of the double ox-ide Cu2 Cr2 O4 sometimes containing particles of unoxidized chromium surmunded bya chromia layer. An innermost layer of chromia was also observed in some cases.Finally metallic copper was al8o frequently mixed with chromia particles. No Cr de-pletion was observed in the alloy close to the inteffoce with the scale. In any case,this alloy was not able to form an exclusive continuous protective chromia layer. 2-Phase anaerobic digestion(AD), where the acidogenic phase was operated at 2 day hydraulic retention time(HRT) and the methanogenic phase at 10 days HRT, had been evaluated to determine if it could provide higher... 2-Phase anaerobic digestion(AD), where the acidogenic phase was operated at 2 day hydraulic retention time(HRT) and the methanogenic phase at 10 days HRT, had been evaluated to determine if it could provide higher organic reduction and methane production than the conventional single-stage AD(also operated at 12 days HRT). 454 pyrosequencing was performed to determine and compare the microbial communities. The acidogenic reactor of the 2-phase system yielded a unique bacterial community of the lowest richness and diversity, while bacterial profiles of the methanogenic reactor closely followed the single-stage reactor. All reactors were predominated by hydrogenotrophic methanogens, mainly Methanolinea. Unusually, the acidogenic reactor contributed up to 24%of total methane production in the 2-phase system. This could be explained by the presence of Methanosarcina and Methanobrevibacter, and their activities could also help regulate reactor alkalinity during high loading conditions through carbon dioxide production. The enrichment of hydrolytic and acidogenic Porphyromonadaceae, Prevotellaceae, Ruminococcaceae and unclassified Bacteroidetes in the acidogenic reactor would have contributed to the improved sludge volatile solids degradation, and ultimately the overall 2-phase system's performance. Syntrophic acetogenic microorganisms were absent in the acidogenic reactor but present in the downstream methanogenic reactor, indicating the retention of various metabolic pathways also found in a single-stage system. The determination of key microorganisms further expands our understanding of the complex biological functions in AD process. 展开更多

A 3-phase a.c. arc plasma reactor with large volume plasma has been developed for the synthesis of new carbon nano-structures. One of the main characteristics of the plasma system is related to the absence of a fixed neutral point. This gives rise to a rich and complex phenomenology related to instabilities and arc motion since the arcs are "burning" freely in the gas flow between the three electrodes. This paper is dedicated to the analysis of the behavior of such a system under typical conditions using argon and nitrogen as plasma gases. A classification of are configuration, arc commutating, arc interaction, arc motion and arc instabilities are discussed based on ultra high-speed cine camera analysis. A simple model describing the time evolution of the system is also presented and compared with the experimental measurements. The results show that an adequate control could allow the improvement of the overall system. 展开更多

A novel white-light emitting single-phase phosphor La_3 Si_6 N_(11):Dy^(3+),exhibiting two emission peaks centering at 475 and 575 nm, was prepared via conventional solid-state reactions. The structure and morphology of La_3 Si_6 N_(11):Dy^(3+)/Tb^(3+) were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The emission colors can be tuned from white to yellow-green through increasing the Tb^(3+) concentration in La_3 Si_6 N_(11):Dy^(3+),Tb^(3+), The mechanism of energy transfer(ET) from Dy^(3+) to Tb^(3+) is confirmed according to the excitation,emission spectra and decay lifetimes curve. The temperaturedependent luminescence measurements of La_(2.83)Si_6 N_(11):0.1 Dy^(3+),0.07 Tb^(3+) were also performed, and a good thermal stability is shown, suggesting superior properties for the application as white lightemitting diodes(w-LEDs) phosphor. 展开更多

The flow with solid-liquid two-phase media inside centrifugal pumps is very complicated and the relevant method for the hydraulic design is still immature so far. There exist two main problems in the operation of the two-phase flow pumps, i.e., low overall efficiency and severe abrasion. In this study, the three-dimensional, steady, incompressible, and turbulent solid-liquid two-phase flows in a low-specific-speed centrifugal pump are numerically simulated and analyzed by using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code based on the mixture model of the two-phase flow and the RNG k-~ two-equation turbulence model, in which the influences of rotation and curvature are fully taken into account. The coupling between impeller and volute is implemented by means of the frozen rotor method. The simulation results predicted indicate that the solid phase properties in two-phase flow, especially the concentration, the particle diameter and the density, have strong effects on the hydraulic performance of the pump. Both the pump head and the efficiency are reduced with increasing particle diameter or concentration. However, the effect of particle density on the performance is relatively minor. An obvious jet-wake flow structure is presented near the volute tongue and becomes more remarkable with increasing solid phase concentration. The suction side of the blade is subject to much more severe abrasion than the pressure side. The obtained results preliminarily reveal the characteristics of solid-liquid two-phase flow in the centrifugal pump, and are helpful for improvement and empirical correction in the hydraulic design of centrifugal pumps. 展开更多
