Conventionally, the design of erasure codes has focused on the tradeoff between redundancy and reliability. Under this criterion, an maximum distance separable(MDS) code has optimal redundancy. In this paper, we address a new class of MDS array codes for tolerating triple node failures by extending the row di- agonal parity(RDP) code, named the RDDP(row double diagonal parity) code. The RDDP code takes advantages of good perform- ances of the RDP code with balanced I/0. A specific triple-erasure decoding algorithm to reduce decoding complexity is depicted by geometric graph, and it is easily implemented by software and hardware. The theoretical analysis shows that the comprehensive properties of the RDDP code are optimal, such as encoding and decoding efficiency, update efficiency and I/0 balance performance.展开更多

The results of visual observation and statistic analysis show that when t...The atomic behavior of liquid-solid mixed-phase nanofluid flows inside nanochannels is investigated by a molecular dynamics simulation (MDS). The results of visual observation and statistic analysis show that when the nanoparticles reach near each other, the strong interatomic force will make them attach together. This aggrega- tion continues until all nanoparticles make a continuous cluster. The effect of altering the external force magnitude causes changes in the agglomeration rate and system enthalpy. The density and velocity profiles are shown for two systems, i.e., argon (Ar)-copper (Cu) nanofluid and simple Ar fluid between two Cu walls. The results show that using nanopar- ticles changes the base fluid particles ordering along the nanochannel and increases the velocity. Moreover, using nanoparticles in simple fluids can increase the slip length and push the near-wall fluid particles into the main flow in the middle of the nanochannel.展开更多

Osb.×...Different strategies of deficit irrigation based on water stress dynamics were applied in an 11-year old citrus trees (Citrus sinensis L. Osb. cv. Navelina) grafted on carrizo citrange (Citrus sinensis L. Osb.×Poncirus Trifoliata L. Osb.). The trees were subjected to two irrigation treatments: (1) sustainable deficit irrigation (SDI) established with water supplied at 60% of the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and (2) low frequency deficit irrigation (LFDI) irrigated according to the plant water status. In addition, a treatment irrigated at 100% of ETc was included as a control (C). Midday stem-water potential (ψUstem), stomatal conductance (gs), and micrometric trunk diameter fluctuations were measured during the maximum evapotranspirative demand period to evaluate the plant-water status, and establish the main relationships among them. The seasonal pattern of the studied variables had a behavior consistent with the contributions made by the volumes of applied irrigation water. Especially significant close relationships of ψstem with gs, and with the maximum daily shrinkage (MDS) were found. The lowest ψstem and gs values were registered in the treatments with lowest irrigations levels (SDI and LFDI), being the MDS was significative higher than in the C treatment. The LFDI showed an oscillating behavior in these parameters, which was on line with the supplied irrigation restrictions cycles. Thus, according to the results of the present experiment the physiological stress indexes based in MDS or ψstem allow establishing different irrigation restriction cycles, encouraging important water saving without significant impact on yield and the fruit quality parameters.展开更多

Beyond doubt, the gaming industry is the most important to the sustained success for Macao. While the industry has been growing spectacularly well since its liberalization in 2004, now, it is time to critically review...Beyond doubt, the gaming industry is the most important to the sustained success for Macao. While the industry has been growing spectacularly well since its liberalization in 2004, now, it is time to critically review the risk factors that may adversely affect its long-term, healthy, and harmonious development. People and organizations need to be vigilant in peace time. Being able to think of possible crises while living in a safe environment has been our traditional wisdom. There is an obvious need to develop and maintain a risk management mechanism for the gaming industry in Macao. Appropriate precautionary measures developed through rigorous study can help mitigate the damage brought by crises and in turn will ensure the sustained development of Macao. Risks and crises, if handled properly, can possibly be transformed into opportunities. This research adopts an integrative approach through systematic and comprehensive investigation to establish an approach to monitor and predict risks and crises for the gaming industry in Macao. This would provide a useful reference for the society and government of Macao in handling them.展开更多
