The pace of discovery in the field of hematology has accelerated signeificantly in recent years, due to important scientific discoveries and new technologies for purification of hematopoietic stem cells and identification of specific stem cell biomarkers; whole genome sequencing using next-generation sequencing technology; and development of molecularly-targeted therapies, leading to the translation of highly promising science into advanced diagnosis and proven targeted therapies for hematopoietic disorders. The WJH is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, which is officially published on June 6, 2012. The WJH Editorial Board consists of 102 experts in hematology from 26 countries. There is clearly a niche for this new journal, which provides access to all articles without boundaries to all internet users throughout the world. The WJH aims to provide rapid access to high impact publications in fundamental and clinical hematology, with multidisciplinary coverage, through an established system that is targeted at dissemination to the scientific community via online openaccess.展开更多

News stories about research are a key communication pathway for this and have been manually monitored to assess the extent of press coverage of scholarship.Design/methodology/Approach: To make larger scale studies practical, this paper introduces an automatic method to extract citations from newspaper stories to large sets of academic journals. Curated ProQuest queries were used to search for citations to 9,639 Science and3,412 Social Science Web of Science(WoS) journals from eight UK daily newspapers during2006–2015. False matches were automatically filtered out by a new program, with 94% of the remaining stories meaningfully citing research.Findings: Most Science(95%) and Social Science(94%) journals were never cited by these newspapers. Half of the cited Science journals covered medical or health-related topics, whereas 43% of the Social Sciences journals were related to psychiatry or psychology. From the citing news stories, 60% described research extensively and 53% used multiple sources, but few commented on research quality.Research Limitations: The method has only been tested in English and from the ProQuest Newspapers database.Practical implications: Others can use the new method to systematically harvest press coverage of research.Originality/value: An automatic method was introduced and tested to extract citations from newspaper stories to large sets of academic journals.展开更多

The formula of film stiffness, film thickness and carrying capacity were established; the influence of the main parameters, such as load, load area and deformation on the supportability was analyzed; and the capacity of the two kinds of bearings was compared. The result shows that the carrying capacity of typeⅠ is prior to that of type Ⅱ . Calculations provide a theoretical basis for the bearing choosing and structure designing in the actual project.展开更多

However, an inexpedience in which Fourier series of the film profile does not converge at jump points of groove start or groove end in the case of rectangle groove was still remained. In the paper, an inexpedience of numerical analysis under a special case at rectangle groove is challenged to solve. As a result, for compensation of which Fourier series does not converge at jump points in a special case of rectangle groove, Fourier coefficient of fluid film thickness is proposed as taking the limit of which in a case trapezoidal groove at trapezoidal angle approaches 0.展开更多

The top 3 institutions with the greatest numbers of published papers were Beijing Hospital,People's Liberation Army General Hospital and the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. The authors with high productivity were Pulin Yu, Jianye Wang and Xiaoying Li. The terms "Diabetes","hypertension" and "myocardial infarction" were hotspot words that drew sustained attention in this field. Conclusions: Research on geriatric medicine is growing steadily in China. Hospitals and teaching hospitals are major contributors to publications. The collaboration of authors is more common within the same institutions or in the same regions. Clinical research is still the focus of current research. In the future, basic research should be strengthened, and collaborations between different institutions and regions should be promoted to achieve coordinated and integrated development in Chinese geriatric medicine.展开更多

(VIP) and Beijing Wanfang Data Co., Ltd. (WFD), as subjects to discuss digital publishing mechanism innovations for China’s science information communication system. After introducing main Internet environment, comparing journal characteristics, and explaining publishing & operation modes of the IAJs, the paper analyses important issues such as redundant contents, digitalization issues, illegal journals, standards construction, copyright and benefit distribution. By learning from research practices and open access, a new benefit distribution and copyright management mode based on the Third Party Agency (TPA) is proposed. Future IAJs operation modes are also discussed from the view of scientific research innovation and state of the art platform construction.展开更多
