In this study,we systematically investigated the effect of proton concentration on the kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)on Pt(111)in acidic solutions.Experimental results demonstrate a rectangular hyperbo...In this study,we systematically investigated the effect of proton concentration on the kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)on Pt(111)in acidic solutions.Experimental results demonstrate a rectangular hyperbolic relationship,i.e.,the ORR current excluding the effect of other variables increases with proton concentration and then tends to a constant value.We consider that this is caused by the limitation of ORR kinetics by the trace oxygen concentration in the solution,which determines the upper limit of ORR kinetics.A model of effective concentration is further proposed for rectangular hyperbolic relationships:when the reactant concentration is high enough to reach a critical saturation concentration,the effective reactant concentration will become a constant value.This could be due to the limited concentration of a certain reactant for reactions involving more than one reactant or the limited number of active sites available on the catalyst.Our study provides new insights into the kinetics of electrocatalytic reactions,and it is important for the proper evaluation of catalyst activity and the study of structureperformance relationships.展开更多
Elementary osmotic pump(EOP)is a unique extended release(ER)drug delivery system based on the principle of osmosis.It has the ability to minimize the amount of the drug,accumulation and fluctuation in drug level durin...Elementary osmotic pump(EOP)is a unique extended release(ER)drug delivery system based on the principle of osmosis.It has the ability to minimize the amount of the drug,accumulation and fluctuation in drug level during chronic uses.Carbamazepine(CBZ),a poorly water-soluble antiepileptic drug,has serious side effects on overdoses and chronic uses.The aim of the present study was to design a new EOP tablet of CBZ containing a solubility enhancers and swellable polymer to reduce its side effects and enhance the patient compliance.Firstly,a combination of solubilizing carriers was selected to improve the dissolution of the slightly soluble drug.Then,designing the new EOP tablet and investigating the effect of different variables of core and coat formulations on drug release behavior by single parameter optimization and by Taguchi orthogonal design with analysis of variance(ANOVA),respectively.The results showed that CBZ solubility was successfully enhanced by a minimum amount of combined polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP K30)and sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS).The plasticizer amount and molecular weight(MW)together with the osmotic agent amount directly affect the release rate whereas the swellable polymer amount and viscosity together with the semi-permeable membrane(SPM)thickness inversely influence the release rate.In addition,the tendency of following zero order kinetics was mainly affected by the coat components rather than those of the core.Further,orifice size does not have any significant effect on the release behavior within the range of 0.1 mm to 0.8 mm.In this study we report the successful formulation of CBZ-EOP tablets,which were similar to the marketed product Tegretol CR 200 and able to satisfy the USP criterion limits and to deliver about 80%of CBZ at a rate of approximately zero order for up to 12 h.展开更多

Combining the finite element model and optimization technology, the dimension optimization aiming at obtaining the minimum loading force and the optimum sealing performance was designed by the zero order optimization method. Experiments of the optimized connector were carried out. The results indicate that the optimum structural design significantly improved the indicators of the minimum loading force and sealing performance of the connector.展开更多

This paper proposes a new discretization method for calculating a sampled-data representation of nonlinear time-delayed non-affine systems. The proposed scheme provides a finite-dimensional representation for nonlinear systems with non-a^ne time-delayed input enabling existing nonlinear controller design techniques to be applied to them. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated by using a nonlinear system with non-affine time-delayed input. Based on load bearing wheel dimensions, material properties and operatin...A new kind of material cast polyurethane elastomers (CPUE) is introduced to take the place of rubber on load bearing wheel for the first time. Based on load bearing wheel dimensions, material properties and operating conditions, the structure of wheel flange is optimized by zero order finite element method. A detailed three dimensional finite element model of flange of load bearing wheel is developed and utilized to optimize structure of wheel flange. Its service life, which is affected by flange structure parameter, is analyzed by comparing the optimization results with those of prototype of wheel. The results of optimization are presented and the stress field of load bearing wheel in optimal dimension obtained by using finite element analysis method is demonstrated. The finite element analysis and optimization results show that the CPUE load bearing wheel is feasible and suitable for the tracked vehicle and has a guiding value in practice of the weighting design of the whole tracked vehicle.展开更多

The changes in color of tomato samples followed both zero and first order kinetic models to describe visual color changes, and ＆E parameters followed first order kinetic.
