Human wetland dependency and socio-economic evaluation of wetland functions through participatory approach in rural India

Wetlands are an important source of natural resources upon which rural economies depend. They have increasingly been valuable for their goods and services, and the intrinsic ecological value they provide to local populations, as well as people living outside the periphery of the wetlands. Stakeholders' participation is essential to the protection and preservation of wetlands because it plays a very important role economically as well as ecologically in the wetland system. The objective of this study was to determine whether gender, educational status, mouzas (which are constituents of a block according to the land reform of the West Bengal Government in India), and wetland functions have any influence on the annual income of the local community. Considering a floodplain wetland in rural India, the focus was extended to recognize the pattern of wetland functions according to the nature of people's involvement through cluster analysis of the male and female populations. Using the statistical software R-2.8.1, an ANOVA (analysis of variance) table was constructed. Since the p value (significance level) was lower than 0.05 for each case, it can be concluded that gender, educational status, mouzas, and wetland functions have a significant influence on annual income. However, S-PLUS-2000 was applied to obtain a complete scenario of the pattern of wetland functions, in terms of involvement of males and females, through cluster analysis. The main conclusion is that gender, educational status, mouzas, and wetland functions have significant impacts on annual income, while the pattern of occupation of the local community based on wetland functions is completely different for the male and female populations. 展开更多

Wetlands offer important ecological functions and values.Wetland functional zoning provides a reference and basis for sustainable fulfilment and management.In this study,two coastal urban agglomerations in South China were taken as study areas,namely,the Guangxi Beibu Gulf(GBG)and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA).Based on multisource information data,a wetland functional zoning system was constructed with the four levels of zoning concept,zoning principle,zoning basis,and zoning scheme.The functional zoning and dynamic analysis of wetlands from 1990 to 2020 were carried out from multiple perspectives of wetland ecological functions,wetland management and conservation functions.The results showed that:1)in terms of wetland ecological functions,the two coastal urban agglomerations were dominated by hydrological regulation and purification of environmental functional areas.The coastal region was largely characterized by the main functional areas of climate regulation and biodiversity maintenance.2)Regarding wetland management and conservation functions,two coastal urban agglomerations exhibited similar trends in terms of the sizes of their conservation and buffer zones from 1990 to 2020.Prevention and control zones were mainly located in core cities in a concentrated manner.Conservation zones largely comprised mountainous woodlands and important wetlands.3)The two coastal urban agglomerations could be divided into 21 wetland functional zones.The central river area has remained the main prevention and control zone for many years.Regarding conservation zones,ecological protection and restoration should be the main focus.Regarding buffer zones,the construction of wetlands and surrounding complex systems should be strengthened or enhanced.Regarding prevention and control zones,activities that do not affect wetland functions should be allowed,provided that they comply with existing laws and regulations.This study could provide technical support and practical application guidance for wetland regulation and management. 展开更多

The estuary wetland is the last barrier for inland pollutants flowing into the sea. The possibility to use the natural wetland, mainly reed marsh and Suaeda heteroptera community as land treatment system to polluted river water was studied. Experimental results indicated that the reed march has a high retention rate to pollutants like COD, N, P and oil. The canal system has high a purification rate to these elements as well. There is also a big potential to use the Suaeda community as a treatment system to exchange water from prawn and crab breeding ponds along the coast. As the pollution problem of coastal seawater has become more and more serious in Eastern China, and Liaohe is among the most seriously polluted 7 rivers in China, this study will greatly contribute to the strategy makers to take suitable reactions. 展开更多

Quantitative Evaluation on Wetland Ecosystem Service Function in Chao Lake

[Objective] The aim was to better reveal the type of ecosystem service function of wetlands in Chao Lake and provide references for protection and man- agement, restoration and rebuilding of local wetland ecosystem. [Objective] The aim was to better reveal the type of ecosystem service function of wetlands in Chao Lake and provide references for protection and man- agement, restoration and rebuilding of local wetland ecosystem. [Method] The val- ues of ecosystem function was estimated by market value method, opportunity cost approach, replacement cost method, shadow engineering approach, travel cost method, hedonic pricing method and contingent value method. [Result] With wetland ecosystem service function value totals 4.968 billion yuan, the value of eco-environ- ment regulation and maintenance was the highest, followed by the value of cultural and social function. The value of material production was the least. The values of sub-functions can be concluded by comparison of service function va}ue and pro- portions, as follows: flood mitigation 〉water purification 〉water conservation 〉 tourism&leisure〉material production〉scientific research and education〉water supply〉 biodiversity maintenance〉regulation on atmosphere constituents. [Conclusion] The re- search performed quantitative evaluations on ecosystem service function values of wetlands in Chao Lake and is of significance for specific development and protec- tion of local wetlands. 展开更多

为了解浙南互花米草湿地大型底栖动物摄食功能群特征及其与环境因子的关系,于2020年7—8月对浙南互花米草植被分布面积较大的三门湾、乐清湾、瓯江口和飞云江口的4个区域开展湿地植被、大型底栖动物、水环境和沉积物环境调查。进入摄食... 为了解浙南互花米草湿地大型底栖动物摄食功能群特征及其与环境因子的关系,于2020年7—8月对浙南互花米草植被分布面积较大的三门湾、乐清湾、瓯江口和飞云江口的4个区域开展湿地植被、大型底栖动物、水环境和沉积物环境调查。进入摄食功能群特征分析的大型底栖动物共59种,其中肉食者(carnivore,CA)20种、碎屑食者(detritivore,DE)13种、杂食者(omnivore,OM)11种、植食者(herbivore,HE)8种以及浮游生物食者(planktivore,PL)7种。在5种摄食功能群类群中,碎屑食者和浮游生物食者占绝对优势,两者相对丰度共为70%;其次为肉食者和植食者,两者相对丰度共为26%;杂食者相对丰度最小,仅占4%。4个区域中除飞云江口仅含3种摄食功能群外,其余均含5种摄食功能群。聚类分析结果表明,飞云江口与其余3个区域存在显著差异。冗余分析表明,互花米草高度、间隙水及沉积物的一些环境因子与摄食功能群分布密切相关,其中沉积物的全盐含量是最能解释摄食功能群分布的环境因子。本研究结果显示,互花米草有利于弓形革囊星虫种群的扩散和生存。 展开更多

滇西北水蓼叶功能性状的关联性及其对气候因子的响应

研究湿地植物对气候变化的响应是了解湿地生态系统应对气候变化的基础。该文以滇西北剑湖、拉市海、泸沽湖和纳帕海共有的湖滨带挺水植物水蓼(Persicaria hydropiper)为研究对象,测定其功能性状,并收集4个样点的海拔高度和气候因子,通... 研究湿地植物对气候变化的响应是了解湿地生态系统应对气候变化的基础。该文以滇西北剑湖、拉市海、泸沽湖和纳帕海共有的湖滨带挺水植物水蓼(Persicaria hydropiper)为研究对象,测定其功能性状,并收集4个样点的海拔高度和气候因子,通过冗余分析检测水蓼功能性状与气候因子间的关系,探讨这些功能性状的气候响应差异。结果表明:(1)水蓼气孔密度和比叶质量沿海拔高度的升高显著增加,而气孔导度、导管面积、气孔面积、叶碳质量分数及叶氮质量分数沿海拔高度的升高而显著降低(P<0.05)。(2)年平均温度、年平均降水量和年平均空气相对湿度是影响水蓼功能性状的最主要气候因子,水蓼更加倾向于生长在温度、降水和空气湿度均相对较高的低海拔生境。(3)水蓼各功能性状存在相关性,净光合速率与叶脉密度、比叶质量、叶磷质量分数间呈显著正相关,而与筛管面积间呈显著负相关(P<0.05),气孔导度和蒸腾速率均与茎粗、气孔大小及叶碳质量分数间呈显著正相关,蒸腾速率与株高间也呈显著正相关(P<0.05)。该研究揭示了影响水蓼功能性状的主要环境因子,也为气候变化背景下水蓼的功能适应性提供了科学数据。 展开更多

海口国际湿地城市认证前后湿地生态功能变化评估

湿地生态系统服务功能是国际湿地城市发挥重要价值的关键所在。目前有关国际湿地城市创建前后湿地生态评估的研究多聚焦于类型、面积的变化,而对其生态系统服务功能的时空演变及政策驱动关注相对较少。为此,以“类型-功能-政策”为研究... 湿地生态系统服务功能是国际湿地城市发挥重要价值的关键所在。目前有关国际湿地城市创建前后湿地生态评估的研究多聚焦于类型、面积的变化,而对其生态系统服务功能的时空演变及政策驱动关注相对较少。为此,以“类型-功能-政策”为研究框架,以城市湿地精细化分类结果(10m空间分辨率,13种湿地类型)为基础,在识别和量化湿地类型和面积变化的基础上,进一步借助InVEST模型评估海口国际湿地城市创建前后(2016年、2022年)湿地生态系统服务功能的变化,并探究变化区的湿地类型变化及政策影响,以期为国际湿地城市的湿地保护和管理提供科学支撑。结果表明:(1)海口国际湿地城市创建前后湿地总面积保持相对稳定,但沼泽湿地面积明显增加,约12.6%,养殖池湿地面积明显下降,约36.67%;(2)海口市湿地生态系统服务功能整体呈现湿地碳储量(增长约5.13%)与水质净化功能(氮、磷含量分别减少约3%、3.55%)明显提升,洪水调蓄(减少约1.47%)及水源涵养功能(减少约2.12%)出现轻微下降;(3)海口市生态系统服务功能的空间变化特征呈现稳定为主,碳储量及水源涵养功能的变化突出,变化区面积依次为57.7km^(2)、50.32km^(2),变化区内湿地类型变化主要为养殖池向滨海沼泽的转换及林地与沼泽的相互转换,其中美兰区北部、琼山区南部为区域内湿地生态系统服务功能变化特征的典型区域。鉴于此,未来城市湿地的保护与管理不仅需要关注面积、类型的变化,更应重视其生态系统服务功能的动态,以实现湿地价值的最大化挖掘。 展开更多

以1987,1992,1997,2002,2007年的遥感影像为例,首次尝试使用加权Ripley's K-function的多尺度格局分析方法,计算了20年来景观异质性在江苏盐城滨海湿地的时间变化和空间分布趋势。通过对研究区的样带划分以及景观类型的点状化处理,... 以1987,1992,1997,2002,2007年的遥感影像为例,首次尝试使用加权Ripley's K-function的多尺度格局分析方法,计算了20年来景观异质性在江苏盐城滨海湿地的时间变化和空间分布趋势。通过对研究区的样带划分以及景观类型的点状化处理,建立滨海湿地样带图层和1987—2007年间各类型景观的点格局数据库,从而分析滨海湿地不同类型景观的空间聚集特征变化。基于加权Ripley's K-function的计算表明,在各级空间尺度和时间变化上,各类型湿地的斑块都呈现出空间聚集分布状态,且1987年以来,不同湿地类型的聚集空间特征尺度和空间分布强度均出现了大幅的增减变化,除互花米草滩之外的自然湿地的聚集空间特征尺度和强度都有明显下降甚至少到无法被检测到,而人工湿地却呈现聚集特征尺度和强度的双增长,且该聚集程度有逐渐增强的趋势。分析表明,既考虑样点的空间位置信息又考虑样点分布范围的加权Ripley's K-function方法能很好地表征湿地景观在多尺度上的变异,且与传统空间景观指数等分析方法的结论在一定程度上保持一致。 展开更多

Contribution of the Kodama and 4S pathways to the dibenzothiophene biodegradation in different coastal wetlands under different C/N ratios 被引量:4

Dibenzothiophene(DBT) degradation mechanisms and the transformation of pathways during the incubation of three types of coastal sediments with C/N ratios ranging from 1 to 9 were investigated. The DBT degradation efficiencies were clearly improved with increasing C/N ratio in reed wetland sediments, tidal wetlands sediments and estuary wetland sediments. The quantitative response relationships between DBT degradation rates and related functional genes demonstrate that the Kodama pathway-related gene groups were dominant factors at low C/N ratios, while the 4S-related gene groups mainly determined the degradation rate when the C/N ratio was up to 5. Network analysis also shows that the pathway shifts from the Kodama pathway to the 4S pathway occurred through changes in the connections between functional genomes and rates. Furthermore, there were competition and collaboration between the Kodama and 4S pathways. The 4S pathway-related bacteria were more active in estuary wetland sediments compared with reed wetland sediments and tidal wetland sediments. The higher degradation efficiency in estuary wetland sediments may indicate the greater participation of the 4S pathway in the DBT biodegradation reaction. And the effects of ring cleavage of Kodama pathway caused more complete metabolizing of DBT. 展开更多

Wetlands provide many important services to human society, but are at the same time ecologically sensitive and adaptive systems, and are under heavy pressure. As a wetland city, Shanghai city has various types of natural wetlands (chiefly, includes coastal, riverine, lacustrine, and reservoir and pond wetlands), which account for 23.5% of total areas. Meanwhile, Shanghai is a metropolitan city, being confronted with the pressure of port expansion and urban and industrial sprawl, just like the other megalopolises in the world. Based on our earlier study on estimating the ecological service values of wetlands in Shanghai, this paper analyzed the ecological functions of the wetland city, such as nutrient cycling, water regulation and supply, food supply, disturbance control, water treatment, habitats and refugia, aesthetic, education and culture, tidal flats and potential land resources. Unfortunately, the wetland function was being degraded and the ecosystem service was discounted accordingly because of over-reclamation, over-fishing, water pollution, and rapid urbanization in the city. It’s therefore recommended that, to improve the environment of Shanghai ciry, and make the ecosystems sustainable function appropriately, the effective wetland management strategies should be taken. 展开更多

A total of 3,820 soil fauna was obtained, belonging to 31 orders, 11 classes, and 3 phyla. The dominant groups were Araneae, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera, accounting for 48.90% of the total catch. There were 18 common groups and 10 rare groups. The diversity analysis showed that the Banzhai karst cave wetland had the largest soil fauna community diversity index and evenness index and that the Dongsai karst cave wetland had the largest number of groups and individuals. The seasonal variation of the soil fauna in the karst cave wetlands was analyzed: the number of soil fauna individuals showed a downtrend in summer, autumn, spring and winter; there were the highest number of phytophagous soil fauna, followed by predatory soil fauna and saprophagous soil fauna. 展开更多

黄河源区湿地水文多功能性定量评估——以若尔盖湿地白河流域为例

黄河源区湿地在维系区域及黄河下游水安全和生态安全中发挥着极为重要的作用。深入探究黄河源区湿地如何以及在何种程度上影响流域水文过程,对区域湿地恢复与保护和水资源综合管理具有重要意义。以若尔盖湿地白河流域为研究区,构建了耦... 黄河源区湿地在维系区域及黄河下游水安全和生态安全中发挥着极为重要的作用。深入探究黄河源区湿地如何以及在何种程度上影响流域水文过程,对区域湿地恢复与保护和水资源综合管理具有重要意义。以若尔盖湿地白河流域为研究区,构建了耦合湿地模块的HYDROTEL模型,基于有、无湿地情景的水文过程模拟,定量评估了2000—2022年流域湿地对径流、洪水、干旱和水源涵养的影响,揭示了流域湿地的水文多功能性。结果表明:白河流域湿地降低了径流的不均匀性和变异性,对径流分配不均匀系数、完全调节系数、集中程度和月变幅的影响效应分别为-11.7%、-9.18%、-8.39%和-20.84%;在研究时段内,流域湿地发挥着削减洪水和缓解干旱的作用,对3月流量、7月流量、年最大洪峰流量和Q_(5)流量的影响强度分别为-741.6×10^(4)、-2427.8×10^(4)、-1398.9×10^(4)和-324.5×10^(4) m^(3),对Q_(95)和基流的影响强度分别为19.9×10^(4)和5.8×10^(4) m^(3)。此外,湿地对流域蓄水能力和水源涵养能力的影响效应分别为30.6%和19.8%。因此,白河流域湿地发挥着重要的径流调节、洪水削减、干旱延缓和水源涵养提升的功能。本研究定量评估了白河流域湿地的水文多功能性,研究思路方法和研究结果可从水文功能提升视角为若尔盖湿地恢复与保护提供重要支撑。 展开更多

随着城市化和经济的快速发展,湿地生态系统受到严重威胁,其生态服务功能也因此受到影响。生态系统服务簇的识别是区域生态系统服务管理与优化的关键。本研究通过解译2000、2010和2020年升金湖湿地的TM遥感影像数据,结合InVEST模型和R语... 随着城市化和经济的快速发展,湿地生态系统受到严重威胁,其生态服务功能也因此受到影响。生态系统服务簇的识别是区域生态系统服务管理与优化的关键。本研究通过解译2000、2010和2020年升金湖湿地的TM遥感影像数据,结合InVEST模型和R语言工具,测算湿地净初级生产力(NPP)、碳储量、生境质量和产水量的时空变化特征。利用自组织映射神经网络(SOFM)识别生态系统服务簇,并进行功能分区。研究发现,2000—2020年间,升金湖湿地的林地和旱地面积显著减少,而草滩地、水田、泥滩地和建设用地面积显著增加。NPP和产水量呈增加趋势,生境质量和碳储量呈下降趋势。通过SOFM识别出4类生态系统服务簇:关键协同区、碳储-NPP协同区、生境保护关键区和城镇发展核心区。该研究通过识别和分区生态系统服务簇,可以实现湿地保护与经济开发的协调发展,为湿地的生态系统服务优化及可持续管理提供了重要的理论支持和实际指导意义。 展开更多
