Detection of Rice Bacterial Leaf Blight Using Hyperspectral Technology and Continuous Wavelet Analysis

Plant diseases are a major threat that can severely impact the production of agriculture and forestry.This can lead to the disruption of ecosystem functions and health.With its ability to capture continuous narrow-band spectra,hyperspectral technology has become a crucial tool to monitor crop diseases using remote sensing.However,existing continuous wavelet analysis(CWA)methods suffer from feature redundancy issues,while the continuous wavelet projection algorithm(CWPA),an optimization approach for feature selection,has not been fully validated to monitor plant diseases.This study utilized rice bacterial leaf blight(BLB)as an example by evaluating the performance of four wavelet basis functions-Gaussian2,Mexican hat,Meyer,andMorlet-within theCWAandCWPAframeworks.Additionally,the classification models were constructed using the k-nearest neighbors(KNN),randomforest(RF),and Naïve Bayes(NB)algorithms.The results showed the following:(1)Compared to traditional CWA,CWPA significantly reduced the number of required features.Under the CWPA framework,almost all the model combinations achieved maximum classification accuracy with only one feature.In contrast,the CWA framework required three to seven features.(2)Thechoice of wavelet basis functions markedly affected the performance of themodel.Of the four functions tested,the Meyer wavelet demonstrated the best overall performance in both the CWPA and CWA frameworks.(3)Under theCWPAframework,theMeyer-KNNandMeyer-NBcombinations achieved the highest overall accuracy of 93.75%using just one feature.In contrast,under the CWA framework,the CWA-RF combination achieved comparable accuracy(93.75%)but required six features.This study verified the technical advantages of CWPA for monitoring crop diseases,identified an optimal wavelet basis function selection scheme,and provided reliable technical support to precisely monitor BLB in rice(Oryza sativa).Moreover,the proposed methodological framework offers a scalable approach for the early diagnosis and assessment of plant stress,which can contribute to improved accuracy and timeliness when plant stress is monitored. 展开更多

In order to extract fault features of a weak signal from the strong noise and maintain signal smoothness, a new method of denoising based on the algorithm of balanced orthogonal multiwavelets is proposed. Multiwavelets have several scaling functions and wavelet functions, and possess excellent properties that a scalar wavelet cannot satisfy simultaneously, and match the different characteristics of signals. Moreover, the balanced orthogonal multiwavelets can avoid the Gibbs phenomena and their processes have the advantages in denoising. Therefore, the denoising based on the algorithm of balanced orthogonal multiwavelets is introduced into the signal process. The algorithm of bal- anced orthogonal multiwavelet and the implementation steps of this denoising are described. The experimental compar- ison of the denoising effect between this algorithm and the traditional multiwavelet algorithm was done. The experi- ments indieate that this method is effective and feasible to extract the fault feature submerged in heavy noise. 展开更多

The flywheels of the spacecraft can somehow only provide control inputs in two independent directions. The dynamic equations are formulated for the spacecraft under a nonholonomic constraint resulting from the constant time-rate of the total angular momentum of the system. The reorientation of such underactuated spacecraft is transformed into an optimal control problem. A genetic algorithm is proposed to derive the control laws of the two flywheels angle velocity inputs. The control laws are approximated by the discrete orthogonal wavelets. The numerical simulations indicate that the genetic algorithm with the wavelet approximation is an effective approach to deal with the optimal reorientation of underactuated spacecraft. 展开更多

This leads naturally to the derivation of minimum variance distortionless response(MVDR) algorithm, which combines the benefits of subspace methods with those of wavelet, and spatially smoothed versions are utilized which exhibits good performance against correlated signals. We test the method's performance by simulating and comparing the performance of proposed algorithm, FFT MVDR and MVDR with correlated signals, and an improved performance is obtained. 展开更多

The main spec- ifications and base conditions of CDU are taken from a crude oil refinery in Wuhan, China. For modeling of a com- plicated CDU, an improved wavelet neural network (WNN) is presented to model the complicated CDU, in which novel parametric updating laws are developed to precisely capture the characteristics of CDU. To address CDU in an economically optimal manner, an economic optimization algorithm under prescribed constraints is presented. By using a combination of WNN-based optimization model and line-up competition algorithm (LCA), the supe- rior performance of the proposed approach is verified. Compared with the base operating condition, it is validat- ed that the increments of products including kerosene and diesel are up to 20% at least by increasing less than 5% duties of intermediate coolers such as second pump-around (PA2) and third Dump-around (PA3). 展开更多

Addressed is the calculation of millimeter wave attenuation on coplanar waveguide(CPW). A novel conformal wavelet finite-difference time-domain(CWFDTD) algorithm is proposed with emphasis on its application in calculation of millimeter wave attenuation on CPW, which is the combination of conformal algorithm dealing with the deformed cell with Wavelet-FDTD using multi-resolution analysis(MRA). Derived is the difference formulation for multi-resolution time domain(MRTD) based on Daubechies wavelets, and also given is the stability conditions for wavelet-FDTD algorithm. To validate its accuracy and efficiency, this novel method is applied to calculate the millimeter wave attenuation on lithium niobate CPW. Numerical results demonstrate that this new CWFDTD algorithm has the same accuracy with the conformal finite-difference time-domain(CFDTD) and conformal finite-difference time-domain based on alternating-direction implicit method(ADI-CFDTD), but saves computational time and computer memory. 展开更多

In this study, the statistical characteristics of the disturbance signal of wavelet transform coefficients and wavelet transform energy distribution constitute feature vectors. These vectors are then trained and tested using SVM multi-class algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that the SVM multi-class algorithms, which use the Gaussian radial basis function, exponential radial basis function, and hyperbolic tangent function as basis functions, are suitable methods for power quality disturbance classification. 展开更多

The segmentation started at the lowest resolution with the FCM clustering algorithm and the texture feature extracted from various sub-bands. In the acoustic detection process of buried non-metallic pipelines,the echo signal is often interfered by a large amount of noise,which makes it extremely difficult to effectively extract useful signals.An denoising algorithm based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD)and wavelet thresholding was proposed.This method fully considered the nonlinear and non-stationary characteristics of the echo signal,making the denoising effect more significant.Its feasibility and effectiveness were verified through numerical simulation.When the input SNR(SNRin)is between-10 dB and 10 dB,the output SNR(SNRout)of the combined denoising algorithm increases by 12.0%-34.1%compared to the wavelet thresholding method and by 19.60%-56.8%compared to the EMD denoising method.Additionally,the RMSE of the combined denoising algorithm decreases by 18.1%-48.0%compared to the wavelet thresholding method and by 22.1%-48.8%compared to the EMD denoising method.These results indicated that this joint denoising algorithm could not only effectively reduce noise interference,but also significantly improve the positioning accuracy of acoustic detection.The research results could provide technical support for denoising the echo signals of buried non-metallic pipelines,which was conducive to improving the acoustic detection and positioning accuracy of underground non-metallic pipelines. 展开更多

Developing an Evolutionary Algorithm to Search for an Optimal Multi-Mother Wavelet Packets Combination

The wavelet transform is a popular analysis tool for non-stationary data, but in many cases, the choice of the mother wavelet and basis set remains uncertain, particularly when dealing with physiological data. Furthermore, the possibility exists for combining information from numerous mother wavelets so as to exploit different features from the data. However, the combinatorics become daunting given the large number of basis sets that can be utilized. Recent work in evolutionary computation has produced a subset selection genetic algorithm specifically aimed at the discovery of small, high-performance, subsets from among a large pool of candidates. Our aim was to apply this algorithm to the task of locating subsets of packets from multiple mother wavelet decompositions to estimate cardiac output from chest wall motions while avoiding the computational cost of full signal reconstruction. We present experiments which show how a continuous assessment metric can be extracted from the wavelets coefficients, but the dual-objective nature of the algorithm (high accuracy with small feature sets) imposes a need to restrict the sensitivity of the continuous accuracy metric in order to achieve the small subset size desired. A possibly subtle tradeoff seems to be needed to meet the dual objectives. 展开更多

Audio Watermarking Using Wavelet Transform and Genetic Algorithm for Realizing High Tolerance to MP3 Compression

Recently, several digital watermarking techniques have been proposed for hiding data in the frequency domain of audio signals to protect the copyrights. However, little attention has been given to the optimal position in the frequency domain for embedding watermarks. In general, there is a tradeoff between the quality of the watermarked audio and the tolerance of watermarks to signal processing methods, such as compression. In the present study, a watermarking method developed for a visual image by using a wavelet transform was applied to an audio clip. We also improved the performance of both the quality of the watermarked audio and the extraction of watermarks after compression by the MP3 technique. To accomplish this, we created a multipurpose optimization problem for deciding the positions of watermarks in the frequency domain and obtaining a near-optimum solution. The near-optimum solution is obtained by using a genetic algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed method generates watermarked audios of good quality and high tolerance to MP3 compression. In addition, the security was improved by using the characteristic secret key to embed and extract the watermark information. 展开更多

In the ultrasonic detection of defects in friction welded joints, it is difficult to exactly detect some weak bonding defects because of the noise pollution. This paper proposed an improved threshold function based on the multi-resolution analysis wavelet threshold de-noising method which was put forward by Donoho and Johnstone, and applied this method in the de-noising of the defective signals. This threshold function overcomes the discontinuous shortcoming of the hard-threshold function and the disadvantage of soft threshold function which causes an invariable deviation between the estimated wavelet coeffwients and the decomposed wavelet coefficients. The improved threshold function is of simple expression and convenient for calculation. The actual test results of defect noise signal show that this improved method can get less mean square error ( MSE ) and higher signal-to-noise ratio of reconstructed signals than those calculated from hard threshold and soft threshold methods. The improved threshold function has excellent de-noising effect. 展开更多

【目的】输电线路是电力系统的重要组成部分,其中大多数线路故障由雷击引起。雷击干扰识别是行波故障分析准确性的关键。为快速识别500 kV超高压直流输电线路中的雷击故障,保障电力系统的稳定运行,提出了一种基于自动化方法的雷击故障... 【目的】输电线路是电力系统的重要组成部分,其中大多数线路故障由雷击引起。雷击干扰识别是行波故障分析准确性的关键。为快速识别500 kV超高压直流输电线路中的雷击故障,保障电力系统的稳定运行,提出了一种基于自动化方法的雷击故障识别技术。【方法】利用字典学习算法对输电线路信号进行去噪,构建信号幅值波动最小误差目标函数,并通过热启动更新字典和牛顿迭代法优化字典矩阵,从而获得高纯度的雷击故障信号,有效降低噪声干扰,提高识别精度。采用小波时间熵技术提取去噪信号中的关键特征。通过小波变换生成小波系数,重构特定层的系数,并定义滑动时间窗以计算熵和信息量,从雷电流暂态信号中提取特征,为故障识别提供数据支持。收集不同雷击特征信号,采用集成学习算法训练特征,生成多个弱分类器,并通过权值融合为强分类器,用于分类每一个雷电流暂态信号样本,提高分类器的泛化能力,使其能够应对不同种类的雷击故障信号。利用麻雀算法优化分类器,通过随机初始化种群、适应度计算、筛选麻雀、更新麻雀发现者与加入者、变异更新等步骤获得分类器的最优参数,并将其应用于优化后的分类器中,实现500 kV超高压直流输电线路雷击故障的自动化识别。麻雀算法作为启发式优化方法,具备自适应性与全局搜索能力,可快速在复杂搜索空间中找到最优参数,提高优化效率与识别速度。【结果】实验结果表明,去噪后信号信噪比(SNR)高于40 dB,识别均方误差(MSE)低于1.5,识别效率超过90%,平均识别时间约为2.5 s,能够准确、高效地识别500 kV超高压直流输电线路中的雷击故障。【结论】本文方法为500 kV超高压直流输电线路雷击故障的自动化识别提供了一种新技术,显著提升了识别精度和效率,为电力系统的安全稳定运行提供了有力支持。此外,该方法可推广应用于其他输电线路故障的识别,具有广泛的应用价值。 展开更多

车载毫米波雷达间交叉干扰直接影响雷达的目标探测精度和驾驶安全,针对此问题本文提出一种基于逐次变分模态分解(Successive Variational Mode Decomposition,SVMD)结合小波阈值的干扰抑制方法。首先通过PID搜索算法(PID Search Algorit... 车载毫米波雷达间交叉干扰直接影响雷达的目标探测精度和驾驶安全,针对此问题本文提出一种基于逐次变分模态分解(Successive Variational Mode Decomposition,SVMD)结合小波阈值的干扰抑制方法。首先通过PID搜索算法(PID Search Algorithm,PSA)对SVMD的最大正则化参数进行优化选择,然后利用SVMD将受扰雷达信号分解为一组本征模态函数(Intrinsic Mode Function,IMF)。接着对每个IMF依次进行小波阈值化处理以滤除各模态中的干扰,最后将各模态叠加完成信号重构,获得干扰抑制后的毫米波雷达信号。本文在PSA中加入陷阱避免算子以增加探索范围和避免局部最优,在小波阈值处理中改进了硬阈值函数以解决函数连续性差的问题。多目标场景下的仿真实验和实测实验结果表明,该方法干扰抑制效果显著,能够提高雷达的检测性能。 展开更多
