Wi-Fi technology has evolved significantly since its introduction in 1997,advancing to Wi-Fi 6 as the latest standard,with Wi-Fi 7 currently under development.Despite these advancements,integrating machine learning in...Wi-Fi technology has evolved significantly since its introduction in 1997,advancing to Wi-Fi 6 as the latest standard,with Wi-Fi 7 currently under development.Despite these advancements,integrating machine learning into Wi-Fi networks remains challenging,especially in decentralized environments with multiple access points(mAPs).This paper is a short review that summarizes the potential applications of federated reinforcement learning(FRL)across eight key areas of Wi-Fi functionality,including channel access,link adaptation,beamforming,multi-user transmissions,channel bonding,multi-link operation,spatial reuse,and multi-basic servic set(multi-BSS)coordination.FRL is highlighted as a promising framework for enabling decentralized training and decision-making while preserving data privacy.To illustrate its role in practice,we present a case study on link activation in a multi-link operation(MLO)environment with multiple APs.Through theoretical discussion and simulation results,the study demonstrates how FRL can improve performance and reliability,paving the way for more adaptive and collaborative Wi-Fi networks in the era of Wi-Fi 7 and beyond.展开更多

The demand for security in d...This paper evaluates the performance of Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) based Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) virtual private network (VPN) in a small to medium sized organization. The demand for security in data networks has been increasing owing to the high cyber attacks and potential risks associated with networks spread over distant geographical locations. The MPLS networks ride on the public network backbone that is porous and highly susceptible to attacks and so the need for reliable security mechanisms to be part of the deployment plan. The evaluation criteria concentrated on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Video conferencing with keen interest in jitter, end to end delivery and general data flow. This study used both structured questionnaire and observation methods. The structured questionnaire was administered to a group of 70 VPN users in a company. This provided the study with precise responses. The observation method was used in data simulations using OPNET Version 14.5 Simulation software. The results show that the IPSec features increase the size of data packets by approximately 9.98% translating into approximately 90.02% effectiveness. The tests showed that the performance metrics are all well within the recommended standards. The IPSec Based MPLS Virtual private network is more stable and secure than one without IPSec.展开更多

However, such re-connection can lead the users to a fake access point with the same ESSID set by attackers. As the attackers hide behind users' access points, they can pass AL's authentication and security schemes, e.g. secure socket layer (SSL). Though TCP/IP protocol is robust, serial server is a transparent channel but cannot detect error and retransmit the data. Experiments show that the OAM multiplexed beams can be switched by using dual-area mirrors, using OOK to modulate four channels separately to form two inputs, channel A and channel B. There are two OAM beams that are multiplexed in each of channel A and channel B, using a spatial light modulator (SLM) to convert the OAM multiplexed beams in each channel. One of the beams is converted into a Gaussian beam, and then separated by a dual-area mirror, so as to realize the switch of a beam carrying different data in the two channels. Then these channels are detected. The waveform indicates that the switch is successful, and the measured optical power indicates that the dual-area mirror can reduce the bit error rate in the communication links. In addition, the device reduces the experimental cost, is easy to implement, is easy to integrate, and increases the angle between the separated beams.展开更多

This paper proposes a switching struc^re based on the tunable wavelength converter (TWC) and the ar- rayed-waveguide grating (AWG) for WDM-PON, in order to provide the function of opitcal virtual private network (OVPN). Using the tunable wavelength converter technology, this switch structure is designed and works between the optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network units (ONUs) in the WDM-PON system. Moreover, the wavelength assignment of upstream/downstream can be realized and direct communication between ONUs is also allowed by privite wavelength channel. Simulation results show that the proposed TWC and AWG based switching structure is able to achieve OVPN function and to gain better performances in terms of bite error rate (BER) and time delay.展开更多

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is spatially distributing independent sensors to monitor physical and environmental characteristics such as temperature, sound, pressure and also provides different applications such as...A wireless sensor network (WSN) is spatially distributing independent sensors to monitor physical and environmental characteristics such as temperature, sound, pressure and also provides different applications such as battlefield inspection and biological detection. The Constrained Motion and Sensor (CMS) Model represents the features and explain k-step reach ability testing to describe the states. The description and calculation based on CMS model does not solve the problem in mobile robots. The ADD framework based on monitoring radio measurements creates a threshold. But the methods are not effective in dynamic coverage of complex environment. In this paper, a Localized Coverage based on Shape and Area Detection (LCSAD) Framework is developed to increase the dynamic coverage using mobile robots. To facilitate the measurement in mobile robots, two algorithms are designed to identify the coverage area, (i.e.,) the area of a coverage hole or not. The two algorithms are Localized Geometric Voronoi Hexagon (LGVH) and Acquaintance Area Hexagon (AAH). LGVH senses all the shapes and it is simple to show all the boundary area nodes. AAH based algorithm simply takes directional information by locating the area of local and global convex points of coverage area. Both these algorithms are applied to WSN of random topologies. The simulation result shows that the proposed LCSAD framework attains minimal energy utilization, lesser waiting time, and also achieves higher scalability, throughput, delivery rate and 8% maximal coverage connectivity in sensor network compared to state-of-art works.展开更多

The NAVigation System with Time And Ranging Global Positioning System (GPS), which is a principal component of the global navigation satellite system (GNSS);is a satellite-based radio navigation system that provides positions of points of interest and time information to users. GPS positional accuracy can be improved by using differential corrections obtained through a technique called Differential GPS (DGPS), which is known to provide the most accurate positioning results. Differential correction can be applied in real time at the data collection phase or in the of- fice, at the post-processing phase. DGPS is generally used for positioning purposes through static or kinematics GPS surveys. In static GPS surveys, one receiver is placed at a point whose coordinates are known and the other receiver is placed over a point whose coordinates are desired. In kinematic surveys, one receiver remains at one point (base station) normally with known coordinates, and the other receiver (rover) moves from point to point in the project area. Kinematic surveys in which points positions are computed on-the-fly (OTF) are known as real-time kinematic (RTK). RTK surveys provide real-time locations of points of interest needed in many applications. Positioning with wide-area GNSS networks is basically based on the DGPS and RTK concepts. Observables from a network of a finite number of GPS receivers over an area are processed by a server at a central location (network server) and made available to the users of the network later or in real-time through radio-based, satellite, or wireless communications. This article provides a review of the concept and application of positioning with wide-area GNSS networks.展开更多

IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi networks are prone to many denial of service(DoS)attacks due to vulnerabilities at the media access control(MAC)layer of the 802.11 protocol.Due to the data transmission nature of the wireless local ...IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi networks are prone to many denial of service(DoS)attacks due to vulnerabilities at the media access control(MAC)layer of the 802.11 protocol.Due to the data transmission nature of the wireless local area network(WLAN)through radio waves,its communication is exposed to the possibility of being attacked by illegitimate users.Moreover,the security design of the wireless structure is vulnerable to versatile attacks.For example,the attacker can imitate genuine features,rendering classificationbased methods inaccurate in differentiating between real and false messages.Althoughmany security standards have been proposed over the last decades to overcome many wireless network attacks,effectively detecting such attacks is crucial in today’s real-world applications.This paper presents a novel resource exhaustion attack detection scheme(READS)to detect resource exhaustion attacks effectively.The proposed scheme can differentiate between the genuine and fake management frames in the early stages of the attack such that access points can effectively mitigate the consequences of the attack.The scheme is built through learning from clustered samples using artificial neural networks to identify the genuine and rogue resource exhaustion management frames effectively and efficiently in theWLAN.The proposed scheme consists of four modules whichmake it capable to alleviates the attack impact more effectively than the related work.The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique by gaining an 89.11%improvement compared to the existing works in terms of detection.展开更多

GPS positional accuracy can be improved by using differential corrections obtained through a technique called Differential GPS (DGPS), which is known to provide the most accurate positioning results. Differential correction can be applied in real time at the data collection phase or in the of- fice, at the post-processing phase. DGPS is generally used for positioning purposes through static or kinematics GPS surveys. In static GPS surveys, one receiver is placed at a point whose coordinates are known and the other receiver is placed over a point whose coordinates are desired. In kinematic surveys, one receiver remains at one point (base station) normally with known coordinates, and the other receiver (rover) moves from point to point in the project area. Kinematic surveys in which points positions are computed on-the-fly (OTF) are known as real-time kinematic (RTK). RTK surveys provide real-time locations of points of interest needed in many applications. Positioning with wide-area GNSS networks is basically based on the DGPS and RTK concepts. Observables from a network of a finite number of GPS receivers over an area are processed by a server at a central location (network server) and made available to the users of the network later or in real-time through radio-based, satellite, or wireless communications. This article provides a review of the concept and application of positioning with wide-area GNSS networks.
文摘In classical IPOA, the communication of two users between local AsynchronousTransfer Mode (ATM) ports needs a VCC, however, it is not an elegant solution to the ATM accessequipments design when the performance of the whole system is considered. Thus, we investigate theway to provide the improved IPOA protocol that uses switching way in local ports. And it is fullycompatible with the CIPOA by using the same protocol for ARP and IP forwarding. In addition, we alsopresent the design of one 10/100 Mbit/s auto adaptive IPOA client board with local switch abilityidea and CAM mechanism for our project.

文摘IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi networks are prone to many denial of service(DoS)attacks due to vulnerabilities at the media access control(MAC)layer of the 802.11 protocol.Due to the data transmission nature of the wireless local area network(WLAN)through radio waves,its communication is exposed to the possibility of being attacked by illegitimate users.Moreover,the security design of the wireless structure is vulnerable to versatile attacks.For example,the attacker can imitate genuine features,rendering classificationbased methods inaccurate in differentiating between real and false messages.Althoughmany security standards have been proposed over the last decades to overcome many wireless network attacks,effectively detecting such attacks is crucial in today’s real-world applications.This paper presents a novel resource exhaustion attack detection scheme(READS)to detect resource exhaustion attacks effectively.The proposed scheme can differentiate between the genuine and fake management frames in the early stages of the attack such that access points can effectively mitigate the consequences of the attack.The scheme is built through learning from clustered samples using artificial neural networks to identify the genuine and rogue resource exhaustion management frames effectively and efficiently in theWLAN.The proposed scheme consists of four modules whichmake it capable to alleviates the attack impact more effectively than the related work.The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique by gaining an 89.11%improvement compared to the existing works in terms of detection.
文摘Software-Defined Networking(SDN)improves network management by separating its control logic from the underlying hardware and integrating it into a logically centralized control unit,termed the SDN controller.SDN adaptation is essential for wireless networks because it offers enhanced and data-intensive services.The initial intent of the SDN design was to have a physically centralized controller.However,network experts have suggested logically centralized and physically distributed designs for SDN controllers,owing to issues such as a single point of failure and scalability.This study addressed the security,scalability,reliability,and consistency issues associated with the design of distributed SDN controllers.Moreover,the security issues of an enterprise related to multiple physically distributed controllers in a software-defined wireless local area network(SD-WLAN)were emphasized,and optimal solutions were suggested.
文摘In this paper a frequency offset estimation technique for Wireless Local Area and Wireless Metropolitan Ar- ea Networks is presented. For frequency offset estimation, we have applied a low-complexity frequency offset estimator for simple AWGN channels to fading channels for MIMO-OFDM systems. Simulation results have shown that the performance of the proposed estimator is better than the low complexity frequency offset estimator designed for AWGN channels.
