A 3-D schematic of the σ-coordinate in a curvilinear coordinate system is provided in this study. The characteristics of the basis vectors were broken down into their "local vector charac- teristics" and "spatial distribution characteristics", and the exact expressions of the covariant; in addition, the con- travariant basis vectors of the G-coordinate used to eluci- date their detailed characteristics were properly solved. Through rewriting the expression of the vertical coordi- nate of G, a mathematical expression of all the cr-coor- dinate surfaces was found, thereby quantifying the so- called terrain-following characteristics and lack of flexi- bility to adjust the slope variation of G-coordinate sur- faces for the classic definition of G. Finally, an analysis on the range value of the vertical coordinate demonstrated that the general value range of G could be obtained by eliminating the G-coordinate surfaces below the Earth's surface. All these quantitative descriptions of the charac- teristics of G-coordinate were the foundation for improv- ing the G-coordinate or creating a new one.展开更多

In this paper, we propose the geometrical structure of a basis vector frame for sum-of-rank-1 type decomposition of real-valued nonnegative tensors. The decomposition we propose reinterprets the orthogonality property of the singularvectors of matrices as a geometric constraint on the rank-1 matrix bases which leads to a geometrically constrained singularvector frame. Relaxing the orthogonality requirement, we developed a set of structured-bases that can be utilized to decompose any tensor into a similar constrained sum-of-rank-1 decomposition. The proposed approach is essentially a reparametrization and gives us an upper bound of the rank for tensors. At first, we describe the general case of tensor decomposition and then extend it to its nonnegative form. At the end of this paper, we show numerical results which conform to the proposed tensor model and utilize it for nonnegative data decomposition.展开更多

The 2D pho- nonic crystal with parallelogram lattice structure is considered to be formed by rigid solid rods embedded in air. For the circu- lar rods, some of the extrema of the acoustic bands appear in the usual high-symmetry points and, in contrast, we find that some of them are located in other specific lines. For the case of elliptic rods, our results indicate that it is necessary to study the whole first Brillouin zone to obtain rightly the band structure and corresponding band gaps. Furthermore, we evaluate the first and second band gaps using the plane wave expansion method and find that these gaps can be tuned by adjusting the side lengths ratio R, inclined angle 0 and filling fraction F of the parallelogram lattice with circular rods. The results show that the largest value of the first band gap appears at θ=90° and F--0.7854. In contrast, the largest value of the second band gap is at θ=60° and F=0.9068. Our results indicate that the improvement of matching degree between scatterers and lattice pattern, ra- ther than the reduction of structural symmetry, is mainly responsible for the enhancement of the band gaps in the 2D phononic crystal.展开更多

Recently, a scheme for probabilistic remote preparation of a general two-qubit state was proposed (Wang Z Y in Quantum Inf Process. 11:1585, 2012)). In this paper, we present a modified scheme for probabilistic remote preparation of a general two-qubit state. To complete the scheme, the new and feasible complete orthogonal basis vectors have been introduced. Compared with the previous schemes, the advantage of our schemes is that the total success probability of remote state preparation will be greatly improved. The probability of success regarding this scheme is calculated in both general and particular cases. The results show that the success probability of remote state preparation can be improved a little. However, in certain special cases, the success probability of preparation can be greatly improved. In special cases, the success probability of preparation can be improved to 1. The security analysis of the scheme is provided in details.展开更多
