Mode shift is a special mechanism for a power-split hybrid electric vehicle(HEV)to realise electrically variable transmission, but the sudden change of equivalent inertia caused by topological configuration recombination during mode shift induces a significant torque shock. Therefore,a smooth transient process, among other concerns, typically associated with this category of vehicles,is of great importance. The present research aims to introduce a novel control strategy to manage the dynamic torque of multiple power sources and therefore im-prove ride comfort. To this end,a dynamic model of the objective power-split HEV is first built. To resolve the contention between vehicle jerk and clutch friction loss,a model predictive control(MPC)combined with control allocation(CA)is then designed for the clutch-engaged phase. To reduce the torque fluctuation caused by the inertia torques of multiple power sources,a dynamic compensation control strategy(DCcs)that coordinates motorgenerator torque to compensate for the transition torque is proposed for the brake-disengaged phase. Finally, the proposed control strategy is validated by simulation and bench test, and results show great potential in reducing shift duration, torque variation, vehicle jerk and friction loss(the simulation results show decreases of 22%,39%,83%and 53%,and the experimental results show decreases of 21%,74%,77%,and 59%,re-spectively),thereby improving shift quality. 展开更多

This paper proposes a passive control method to reduce peak values of slipstream and turbulent kinetic energy in a high-speed train wake by attaching vortex generators(VGs)onto the upper surface of the tail car.The impact of the VGs is assessed through the improved delayed detached eddy simulations(IDDES)after validating predictions against previous experimental measurements and other numerical predictions for the base case. The simulations indicate that strategically installed VGs can reduce the average slipstream velocity(U slipstream)and the upper limit of slipstream velocity(U_(slipstream,max))by~17%and~15%,respectively,as well as moving the peaks downstream by approximately train height, thus reducing the danger posed by slipstream to waiting passengers and trackside workers.Analysis shows that the wake turbulent kinetic energy diminishes as the vortex generators decelerate the downwash flow and reduce shear production in the wake.It is also found that the presence of VGs significantly impacts the flow on the upper surface near the tail by modifying the unsteady trailing longitudinal vortices through the formation of additional counter-rotating longitudinal vortices from the VGs.These latter vortices prevent the merging of vortical airflow around the trailing nose tip, which is otherwise induced by the longitudinal vortex of the train. They also reduce vortex intensity through cross-annihilation and cross diffusion as the wake advects downstream, limiting outwards advection through interaction with the image pair, and contributing to a decrease in the peak slipstream value. The method proposed offers a simple approach to wake control leading to significant slipstream benefits. 展开更多

The safe driving and operation of trains is a necessary condition for ensuring the safe operation of trains. In particular,heavy-haul trains are characterized by the difficulty in driving and operation.Considering the uncertainties in train driving and operation, this paper analyzes the relationship between the safety of heavy-haul electric locomotive hauled trains and driving and operation. It studies the auxiliary intelligent driving safety operation control methods.Through K-means to identify the characteristics of drivers'driving manipulation, the hidden Markov model adaptively adjusts the train driving and operation sequence, and conducts auxiliary driving reconstruction for heavy-haul locomotive driving and operation.Based on the train running curve and the locomotive traction/braking characteristics,it smoothly controls the exertion of the traction/braking force of heavy-haul locomotives, thereby optimizing the driving safety control of heavy-haul trains in the vehicle-environment-track system. Finally, the train operation simulation and optimized driving verification are carried out by simulating some track sections. The results show that the proposed method can correct and pre-optimize driving operations, improving the smoothness of heavy-haul trains by approximately 10%.It verifies the effectiveness of the proposed train assisted driving control reconstruction method, facilitating the smooth and safe operation of heavy-haul trains. 展开更多

In order to enhance the control performance of piezo-positioning system, the influence of hysteresis characteristics and its compensation method are studied.Hammerstein model is used to represent the dynamic hysteresis nonlinear characteristics of piezo-positioning actuator. The static nonlinear part and dynamic linear part of the Hammerstein model are represented by models obtained through the Prandtl-Ishlinskii(PI)model and Hankel matrix system identification method, respectively. This model demonstrates good generalization capability for typical input frequencies below 200 Hz.A sliding mode inverse compensation tracking control strategy based on P-I inverse model and integral augmentation is proposed.Experimental results show that compared with PID inverse compensation control and sliding mode control without inverse compensation, the sliding mode inverse compensation control has a more ideal step response and no overshoot, moreover, the settling time is only 6.2 ms.In the frequency domain, the system closed-loop tracking bandwidth reaches 119.9 Hz,and the disturbance rejection bandwidth reaches 86.2 Hz.The proposed control strategy can effectively compensate the hysteresis nonlinearity, and improve the tracking accuracy and antidisturbance capability of piezo-positioning system. 展开更多

The terminal guidance problem for an unpowered lifting reentry vehicle against a sta- tionary target is considered. In addition to attacking the target with high accuracy, the vehicle is also expected to achieve a desired impact angle. In this paper, a sliding mode control (SMC)-based guidance law is developed to satisfy the terminal angle constraint. Firstly, a specific sliding mode function is designed, and the terminal requirements can be achieved by enforcing both the sliding mode function and its derivative to zero at the end of the flight. Then, a backstepping approach is used to ensure the finite-time reaching phase of the sliding mode and the analytic expression of the control effort can be obtained. The trajectories generated by this method only depend on the initial and terminal conditions of the terminal phase and the instantaneous states of the vehicle. In order to test the performance of the proposed guidance law in practical application, numerical simulations are carried out by taking all the aerodynamic parameters into consideration. The effec- tiveness of the proposed guidance law is verified by the simulation results in various scenarios. 展开更多

This paper presents an adaptive terminal sliding mode control(ATSMC) method for automatic train operation. The criterion for the design is keeping high-precision tracking with relatively less adjustment of the control input. The ATSMC structure is designed by considering the nonlinear characteristics of the dynamic model and the parametric uncertainties of the train operation in real time. A nonsingular terminal sliding mode control is employed to make the system quickly reach a stable state within a finite time, which makes the control input less adjust to guarantee the riding comfort. An adaptive mechanism is used to estimate controller parameters to get rid of the need of the prior knowledge about the bounds of system uncertainty. Simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller, which has robust performance to deal with the external disturbance and system parametric uncertainties. Thereby, the system guarantees the train operation to be accurate and comfortable. 展开更多

Aimed at the guidance requirements of some missiles which attack targets with terminal impact angle at the terminal point,a new integrated guidance and control design scheme based on variable structure control approach for missile with terminal impact angle constraint is proposed.First,a mathematical model of an integrated guidance and control model in pitch plane is established, and then nonlinear transformation is employed to transform the mathematical model into a standard form suitable for sliding mode control method design.A sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surface is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),based on which the corresponding reaching motion controller is also developed. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed integrated design scheme, the numerical simulation of missile is made. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed guidance and control law can guide missile to hit the target with desired impact angle and desired flight attitude angle simultaneously. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel guidance law to intercept non-maneuvering targets with impact angle and lateral acceleration command constraints. Firstly, we formulate the impact angle control to track the desired line-of-sight(LOS) angle, which is achieved by selecting the missile s lateral acceleration to enforce the sliding mode on a sliding surface at impact time. Secondly, we use the Lyapunov stability theory to prove the stability and finite time convergence of the proposed nonlinear sliding surface. Thirdly, we introduce the wavelet neural network(WNN) to adaptively update the additional control command and reduce the high-frequency chattering of sliding mode control(SMC). The proposed guidance law, denoted WNNSMC guidance law with impact angle constraint, combines the SMC methodology with WNN to improve the robustness and reduce the chattering of the system. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the WNNSMC guidance law. 展开更多

This work deals with the development of a decentralized optimal control algorithm, along with a robust observer, for the relative motion control of spacecraft in leader-follower based formation. An adaptive gain higher order sliding mode observer has been proposed to estimate the velocity as well as unmeasured disturbances from the noisy position measurements.A differentiator structure containing the Lipschitz constant and Lebesgue measurable control input, is utilized for obtaining the estimates. Adaptive tuning algorithms are derived based on Lyapunov stability theory, for updating the observer gains, which will give enough flexibility in the choice of initial estimates. Moreover, it may help to cope with unexpected state jerks. The trajectory tracking problem is formulated as a finite horizon optimal control problem, which is solved online. The control constraints are incorporated by using a nonquadratic performance functional. An adaptive update law has been derived for tuning the step size in the optimization algorithm, which may help to improve the convergence speed. Moreover, it is an attractive alternative to the heuristic choice of step size for diverse operating conditions. The disturbance as well as state estimates from the higher order sliding mode observer are utilized by the plant output prediction model, which will improve the overall performance of the controller. The nonlinear dynamics defined in leader fixed Euler-Hill frame has been considered for the present work and the reference trajectories are generated using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations of unperturbed motion. The simulation results based on rigorous perturbation analysis are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

This paper presents the design of an asymmetrically variable wingtip anhedral angles morphing aircraft, inspired by biomimetic mechanisms,to enhance lateral maneuver capability.Firstly,we establish a lateral dynamic model considering additional forces and moments resulting during the morphing process, and convert it into a Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO)virtual control system by importing virtual inputs.Secondly,a classical dynamics inversion controller is designed for the outer-loop system.A new Global Fast Terminal Incremental Sliding Mode Controller(NDO-GFTISMC)is proposed for the inner-loop system,in which an adaptive law is implemented to weaken control surface chattering, and a Nonlinear Disturbance Observer(NDO)is integrated to compensate for unknown disturbances. The whole control system is proven semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded based on the multi-Lyapunov function method.Furthermore,we consider tracking errors and self-characteristics of actuators,a quadratic programmingbased dynamic control allocation law is designed, which allocates virtual control inputs to the asymmetrically deformed wingtip and rudder.Actuator dynamic models are incorporated to ensure physical realizability of designed allocation law. Finally, comparative experimental results validate the effectiveness of the designed control system and control allocation law.The NDO-GFTISMC features faster convergence, stronger robustness, and 81.25%and 75.0%reduction in maximum state tracking error under uncertainty compared to the Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion Controller based on NDO(NDO-INDI)and Incremental Sliding Mode Controller based on NDO(NDO-ISMC),respectively.The design of the morphing aircraft significantly enhances lateral maneuver capability, maintaining a substantial control margin during lateral maneuvering, reducing the burden of the rudder surface, and effectively solving the actuator saturation problem of traditional aircraft during lateral maneuvering. 展开更多

This work deals with robust inverse neural control strategy for a class of single-input single-output(SISO) discrete-time nonlinear system affected by parametric uncertainties. According to the control scheme, in the first step, a direct neural model(DNM)is used to learn the behavior of the system, then, an inverse neural model(INM) is synthesized using a specialized learning technique and cascaded to the uncertain system as a controller. In previous works, the neural models are trained classically by backpropagation(BP) algorithm. In this work, the sliding mode-backpropagation(SM-BP) algorithm, presenting some important properties such as robustness and speedy learning, is investigated. Moreover, four combinations using classical BP and SM-BP are tested to determine the best configuration for the robust control of uncertain nonlinear systems. Two simulation examples are treated to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. 展开更多

This paper analyses the issue of impact time control of super-cavitation weapons impact fixed targets which mainly refer to the ships or submarines who lost power, but still have combat capability. Control over impact time constraints of guidance law(ITCG) is derived by using sliding mode control(SMC) and Lyapunov stability theorem. The expected impact time is realized by using the notion of attack process and estimated time-to-go to design sliding mode surface(SMS). ITCG contains equivalent and discontinuous guidance laws, once state variables arrive at SMS,the equivalent guidance law keeps the state variables on SMS,then the discontinuous guidance law enforces state variables to move and reach SMS. The singularity problem of ITCG is also analyzed. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation results are given to test the effectiveness of ITCG designed in this paper. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the problem of the adaptive robust control of a lower limbs rehabilitation robot(LLRR) that is a nonlinear system running under passive training mode. In reality, uncertainties including modeling error, initial condition deviation, friction force and other unknown external disturbances always exist in a LLRR system. So, it is necessary to consider the uncertainties in the unilateral man-machine dynamical model of the LLRR we described. In the dynamical model, uncertainties are(possibly fast) time-varying and bounded. However, the bounds are unknown. Based on the dynamical model, we design an adaptive robust control with an adaptive law that is leakagetype based and on the framework of Udwadia-Kalaba theory to compensate for the uncertainties and to realize tracking control of the LLRR. Furthermore, the effectiveness of designed control is shown with numerical simulations. 展开更多

A fatigue damage model based on thermodynamics was deduced for asphalt mixtures under controlled-stress and controlled-strain modes. By employing modulus of resilience as the damage hardening variable, a damage variable related with dynamic modulus was extracted as the evaluation index. Then, the damage evolution law under two control modes was proposed, and it has a similar form to the Chaboche fatigue model with a nonnegative material parameter m related to its loading level. Experimental data of four loading levels were employed to calibrate the model and identify the parameter in both control modes. It is found that the parameter m shows an exponential relationship with its loading level. Besides, the difference of damage evolution under two control modes was explained by the law. The damage evolves from fast to slow under a controlled-strain mode. However, under a controlled-stress mode, the evolution rate is just the opposite. By using the damage equivalence principle to calculate the equivalent cycle numbers, the deduced model also interprets the difference of damage evolution under two control modes on the condition of multilevel loading. Under a controlled-strain mode, a loading sequence from a low level to a high level accelerates damage evolution. An inverse order under the controlled-stress mode can prolong fatigue life. 展开更多

This paper develops a novel hierarchical control strategy for improving the trajectory tracking capability of aerial robots under parameter uncertainties. The hierarchical control strategy is composed of an adaptive sliding mode controller and a model-free iterative sliding mode controller(MFISMC).A position controller is designed based on adaptive sliding mode control(SMC)to safely drive the aerial robot and ensure fast state convergence under external disturbances.Additionally, the MFISMC acts as an attitude controller to estimate the unmodeled dynamics without detailed knowledge of aerial robots. Then, the adaption laws are derived with the Lyapunov theory to guarantee the asymptotic tracking of the system state. Finally,to demonstrate the performance and robustness of the proposed control strategy, numerical simulations are carried out, which are also compared with other conventional strategies, such as proportional-integralderivative(PID),backstepping(BS),and SMC.The simulation results indicate that the proposed hierarchical control strategy can fulfill zero steady-state error and achieve faster convergence compared with conventional strategies. 展开更多
