Objective To draw on the experience of the construction and development of drug traceability system in the USA and to provide reference for improving China’s drug traceability system.Methods Literature research and comparative study were used to sort out the background and development of drug traceability system in the USA,including drug traceability code,drug traceability model,drug traceability platform and the application of blockchain technology.On this basis,some suggestions on the construction of drug traceability system in China were put forward.Results and Conclusion The United States has a perfect system of laws and regulations on drug traceability,which encourages the construction of third-party traceability platforms to avoid the formation of monopolies.Besides,the application of blockchain technology in the construction of drug traceability system is also relatively mature.It is suggested that China strengthen the construction of drug traceability system,give play to the advantages of third-party traceability platforms,and improve the application of blockchain technology in drug traceability. 展开更多

[Objective] In response to pig breeding stage characteristics,the research aimed to design the traceability system to realize the pig product marking which based on RFID technology. [Method] The antenna's design method of electronic tag and reader antenna were expounded and different antennas were used for testing communication test of RFID system. [Result] When the parameter setup such as data transportation ratio was same,the communication distance of external antenna was farther than RCB antenna; compare with three external antennas,the communication distance of coaxial antenna and wall-hanged antenna were farther. In 500 kbps transfer rate,communication distance was within 28 meters,and in 250 kbps transfer rate,communication distance was within 40 meters. Considered the cost of hardware,the price of wall-hanged antenna was higher than coaxial antenna,so in the same communication distance request,system selected coaxial antenna. [Conclusion] During the pig breeding stage,by dint of electronic tag and reader designed by the research could improve the safety of the pork and fully realize the track of source of food and provide technology support for the transparent management of food safety. 展开更多

Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is one of the most promising programs for disease prevention and treatment.Meanwhile,the quality of TCM has garnered much attention.To ensure the quality of TCM,many works are based on the blockchain scheme to design the traceability scheme of TCM to trace its origin.Although these schemes can ensure the integrity,sharability,credibility,and immutability of TCM more effectively,many problems are exposed with the rapid growth of TCM data in blockchains,such as expensive overhead,performance bottlenecks,and the traditional blockchain architecture is unsuitable for TCM data with dynamic growth.Motivated by the aforementioned problems,we propose a novel and lightweight TCM traceability architecture based on the blockchain using sharding(LBS-TCM).Compared to the existing blockchain-based TCM traceability system,our architecture utilizes sharding to develop a novel traceability mechanism that supports more convenient traceability operations for TCM requirements such as uploading,querying,and downloading.Specifically,our architecture consists of a leader shard blockchain layer as its main component,which employs a sharding mechanism to conveniently TCM tracing.Empirical evaluations demonstrated that our architecture showed better performance in many aspects compared to traditional blockchain architectures,such as TCM transaction processing,TCM transaction querying,TCM uploading,etc.In our architecture,tracing TCM has become a very efficient operation,which ensures the quality of TCM and provides great convenience for subsequent TCM analysis and retrospective research. 展开更多

Willingness of farmers to participate in food traceability systems:improving the level of food safety 被引量:4

In order to solve frequently emerging food safety problems and adapt to the developing trends in the international food safety field, the Chinese government is establishing and developing food traceability systems. Whether or not food traceability sys- tems can guarantee food safety is a problem well worth discussing. Hence, we constructed a theoretical model to explore the effect of incentives in a food traceability system in order to improve food safety levels. The following results were obtained: enhancing the ef- fectiveness of a food traceability system, increasing the payment to farmers who supply safe agricultural products and strengthening the penalty for unsafe food supply actions are necessary conditions to improve the level of food safety. How to encourage farmers to use food traceability systems is another problem explored in our investigation. Based on a field survey on the willingness of vegetable growers to participate using a vegetable traceability system in Beijing, the first city in China to develop such a system, we used a de- scriptive statistics and a binary logistic regression model to investigate the factors which dominate the decision on the part of farmers to participate in a food safety system. The results indicate that i: younger farmers are more likely to get involved in a food traceability system than older farmers, ii: income from non-agricultural activities decreases the willingness of farmers to participate, iii: the high- er the cost-benefit ratio of growing vegetables, the more likely for farmers to engage in a food traceability system, iv: farmers with a great concern for food safety information have a high propensity to participate and v: increased penalties against unsafe food supply actions and high-risk expectation are adverse incentives. In contrast, high-price expectation is a positive incentive for farmers to par- ticipate, while agricultural training, government subsidies and being part of an industrial organization will significantly strengthen the confidence of farmers to participate in a food safety system. 展开更多

This paper aims to explore food safety traceability in the onboard food and beverage operations on cruise ships through a case study approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with galley and foodservice staff. Additionally, a self-administered questionnaire was designed and distributed to logistics managers and employees of three Egyptian cruise companies. Results indicated that cruise ships in this study use paper-based and manually-entered (electronically stored) data traceability systems. Managing food safety by effective product recall, complying with legislation, and improving product quality are among the most important perceived benefits identified by foodservice staff. Maintaining a good reputation, ensuring food safety, reducing foodborne illnesses, suppliers' commitment to quality specifications, and maintaining vip confidence are considered the most important benefits from implementing a food traceability system. The results also depicted that the challenges managers face implementing or improving a food traceability system included high cost, absence of unified traceability standards between cruise companies and food suppliers, shortage of skilled staff, and lack of knowledge and satisfaction with current foodservice operation systems onboard cruise ships. Other findings elucidated that the critical success factors for implementing traceability included strict food traceability legislation, ensuring the adequacy and correctness of traceability information, adopting a food traceability system by the cruise company management, the standardization of food traceability information identification, and technology support for food traceability systems implementation from government. Other factors were reported of less importance. This research concluded the urgent need for more cooperation between cruise companies, food suppliers, and relevant governmental authorities to adopt food traceability systems and the need of authorizing and setting compulsory standards and regulations. 展开更多

It shows that the enthusiasm is greatly influenced by enterprises' characters and performance,such as age,ownership,business pattern of enterprises,market breadth,condition of enterprises' traceability system,income,acceptance of consumers,sales volume. The frequent occurrence of food safety accidents at the global level has triggered consumer sensitivity. Establishing a food traceability system can effectively guarantee food safety and increase consumer confidence and satisfaction. Existing food traceability systems often ignore environmental factors that affect food quality at all stages of the supply chain, and the authenticity of the information obtained through traceability is difficult to guarantee. In this study, a food supply chain traceability model was established based on blockchain and radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies. The model focused on the traceability of environmental data during the various stages of the food supply chain and combined a centralized database and blockchain for data storage. The lot identification data of the various supply chain stages were stored in a centralized database, while the environmental data were stored in a blockchain. Thereby, the authenticity and accuracy of the traceability data were ensured. The blockchain part of the model has been simulated in the Ethereum test environment, and the experiment has achieved traceability of temperature data. 展开更多

Objective To analyze the current problems in drug traceability and supply chain management,and build the drug traceability system based on the block chain technology so as to provide authenticity assurance for the real data in the whole life cycle of drugs.Methods A new drug regulatory traceability protocol was designed based on block chain technology.The database of drug production,circulation and use was linked closely.A traceability system was set up according to the traceability protocol,and the consensus complexity and safety performance of the system were analyzed.Results and Conclusion The distributed account book and tamper-proof functions of the block chain platform were used to establish a double-chain system based on the combination of public chain and private chain,which could make the data of drugs more reliable,transparent and traceable with good application value.The establishment of a double-chain traceability system is studied so that drug market license holders,manufacturers,operating enterprises and users can verify the data to form an interconnected drug traceability data chain. 展开更多

The global seafood industry is a vital and rapidly growing source of protein.Seafood traceability systems(STS)are crucial for enhancing brand reputation,mitigating risks,ensuring food safety,and building consumer trust.However,in Oman,seafood often undergoes complex journeys through multiple ports,intermediaries,and processors,making traceability a challenge.Currently,only a small fraction of wild-caught seafood can meet the demand for transparency.This study assessed the STS implementation in Oman,focusing on seafood establishments and government officials.Using Likert scales and questionnaires in English and Arabic,responses were gathered from 32 seafood establishments and 16 officials from the Ministry of Agriculture,Fisheries and Water Resources(MAFWR),Sultanate of Oman.Data analysis involved various statistical methods,including the Cronbach Alpha index for internal consistency.Results indicated that government officials primarily support STS regulations,while seafood establishments see potential benefits but anticipate implementation difficulties.The seafood industry is more optimistic than officials about STS.Bridging gaps in awareness,technology,knowledge,and research is crucial.Collaboration between the government and seafood establishments is recommended to enhance communication.Public awareness campaigns sponsored by the government and relevant organizations should promote the advantages of STS.Cost-benefit analyses should be conducted,and results should be shared with stakeholders.Further research is needed to understand the variables influencing STS adoption.In summary,enhancing seafood traceability in Oman is essential for meeting global demands for transparency and food safety.This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration,awareness,and research in bridging STS implementation gaps and eventually benefiting consumers and the seafood industry. 展开更多

Despite the promising prospects of blockchain technology,research remains primarily confined to the analysis-design phase,highlighting a gap in support for actual implementation.This study aims to develop a framework for assessing the implementation readiness of a blockchain-based traceability system,using the Kintamani coffee agroindustry as a case study.The research commenced with a structured literature analysis to create an assessment model and lay the groundwork for survey questionnaire distribution among potential users.Utilizing Kansei Engineering,the data were analyzed using quantification theory type I(QTT1)to identify the critical elements influencing users’adoption intentions.The findings led to the proposition of a new framework integrating the assessment model with the system development life cycle(SDLC).Analysis of 59 articles revealed that TAM,TOE,DOI,and TRI are the predominant theories used to assess blockchain technology adoption.The resulting assessment model comprises three contexts,two characteristics with 14 variables,and analyzed data showing individual characteristics—particularly elements OPT1,INS3,and DIS1—as pivotal,evidenced by their high partial correlation coefficients of 0.92108,0.89168,and 0.89050,respectively.An integrated participatory development(IPD)approach was suggested to enhance system development and improve user quality of life,interaction,and communication effectiveness in the SDLC.This novel method proposed bolstering blockchain systems’real-world implementation success by adapting development iterations to user needs.It is anticipated to apply to other case studies,offering broader implications.Future research could explore different data analysis methods or case studies to enhance these findings through sensitivity comparisons and bias analysis. 展开更多

Almond is widely cultivated in the world thanks to the quality and healthy features of the kernel.Almond kernel is consumed fresh or employed in the food industry.Hundreds of almond cultivars were selected throughout the long history of cultivation;in this context,an efficient method for varietal identification is essential to ensure cultivar traceability along the chain.This study surveyed the widely employed commercial kits and protocols for DNA extraction from several almond matrices including leaves,kernels(fresh and roasted)and several processed products.Commercial kits(though with minor modification)outperformed the other extraction methods for the isolation of DNA suitable for molecular analysis from all the tested matrices.In parallel,a germplasm collection composed of 140 accessions(123 Sicilian genotypes complemented with widely known national and international cultivars)was genotyped with the Axiom^(TM)60K almond SNP Array enabling the detection of 6374 unique SNPs that can be readily used for varietal traceability.A subset of unique SNPs was further validated employing a high-resolution melting(HRM)assay on a discovery panel encompassing ten of the most widely cultivated accessions.The DNA extracted from leaves and kernels of five cultivars was genotyped with eight SSRs allowing the identification of the maternal origin of each kernel.The paper integrates the survey of the widely employed protocols for DNA extraction with the high-throughput genotyping of 140 almond accessions.In this context,unique SNPs validated and optimized for an HRM assay and the availability of SSR markers demonstrated their efficacy in traceability analysis along the chain. 展开更多

[Method] Through the analysis on the circulation characteristics of agricultural products, like fruits, vegetables, livestock and poultry, the agricultural products quality safety management and traceability query business component libraries were designed. Based on the run-time-supporting environment provided by domestic based software, traceability management system of agricultural products quality and safety was constructed. [Result] The traceability management system provided the information interaction and comprehensive management platform of agricultural product quality and safety based on domestic based software for the government, enterprises and consumers. [Conclusion] Through the application demonstration, the quality control and information traceability of full circulation of agricultural products was achieved effective and reliably, and the management level of agricultural products quality and safety was improved. 展开更多
