The problem is reduced to designing Hurwitz polynomials with real or complex coefficients. We show that by using Hurwitz polynomials with complex coefficients, a necessary and sufficient condition can be obtained for designing the consensus algorithm. Since the condition is both necessary and sufficient, we provide a kind of parametrization for all the weighting coefficients achieving consensus. Moreover, the condition is a natural extension to second order consensus, and is reasonable and practical due to its comparatively decreased computation burden. The result is also extended to the case where communication delay exists in the control input.展开更多

These shells undergo finite (unlimited in size) rotations and large overall motions but with small strains. A singularity-free parametrization of the rotation field is adopted. The constitutive equations, derived with respect to laminate curvilinear coordinates, are applicable to shell elements with an arbitrary number of orthotropic layers and where the material principal axes can vary from layer to layer. A careful consideration of the consistent linearization procedure pertinent to the proposed parametrization of finite rotations leads to symmetric tangent stiffness matrices. The matrix formulation adopted here makes it possible to implement the present formulation within the framework of the finite element method as a straightforward task.展开更多

This computation was made possible by applying the Third-Order Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology developed by Cacuci. The numerical results obtained in this work revealed that many of the 3rd-order sensitivities are significantly larger than their corresponding 1st- and 2nd-order ones, which is contrary to the widely held belief that higher-order sensitivities are all much smaller and hence less important than the first-order ones, for reactor physics systems. In particular, the largest 3rd-order relative sensitivity is the mixed sensitivity <img src="Edit_754b8437-dfdf-487d-af68-c78c637e6d4e.png" width="180" height="24" alt="" />of the PERP leakage response with respect to the lowest energy-group (30) total cross sections of 1H (“isotope 6”) and 239Pu (“isotope 1”). These two isotopes are shown in this work to be the two most important parameters affecting the PERP benchmark’s leakage response. By comparison, the largest 1st-order sensitivity is that of the PERP leakage response with respect to the lowest energy-group total cross section of isotope 1H, having the value <img src="Edit_a5cfcc11-6a99-41ee-b844-a5ee84b454b3.png" width="100" height="24" alt="" />, while the largest 2nd-order sensitivity is <img src="Edit_05166a2b-97f7-43f1-98ff-b21368c00228.png" width="120" height="22" alt="" />. The 3rd-order sensitivity analysis presented in this work is the first ever such analysis in the field of reactor physics. The consequences of the results presented in this work on the uncertainty analysis of the PERP benchmark’s leakage response will be presented in a subsequent work.展开更多

When k = -1, the third order Lovelock black holes are thermodynamically stable for the whole range r+. When k = 1, we found that the black hole has an intermediate unstable phase for D = 7. In eight dimensional spacetimes, however, a new phase of thermodynamically unstable small black holes appears if the coefficient a is under a critical value. For D ≥ 9, black holes have similar the distributions of thermodynamically stable regions to the case where the coefficient & is under a critical value for D = 8. It is worth to mention that all the thermodynamic and conserved quantities of the black holes with fiat horizon do not depend on the Loveloek coefficients and are the same as those of black holes in general gravity.展开更多
