The semiconductor thin disk laser is a new type of semiconductor laser. This work gives the basic operation function of the semiconductor disk laser, and analyses the heat effect by the experimentally measured photolu... The semiconductor thin disk laser is a new type of semiconductor laser. This work gives the basic operation function of the semiconductor disk laser, and analyses the heat effect by the experimentally measured photoluminescence spectrum of the laser chip at different pump power and different temperatures. We can see that: with increasing pump power, the thermal effect of the gain material becomes seriously and causes the saturation of carrier lifetime, so the electron-hole pair created in the absorbtion layer has no enough time to rate to one of the wells, and the non-radiative recombination happens in the barrier. When the thermal effect becomes stronger, the chip will be not lasing. This phenomenon is from the smaller energy offset between barrier and quantum well. We optimize the original structure design and experimental technology. A non-absorbing AlGaAs layer which is transparent to the pumping and laser wavelength is added to confine the carriers in the quantum wells. At the same time a DBR with double reflecting band is induced to improve the absorbing efficiency of the pumping light. The single QW is replaced by the three narrow QWs. This three QWs structure can add the quantum state of QW, increase the recombination probability of carriers in the QWs and reduce the heat effect. The chemical etching equipment is also improved to control the surface unevenness to be within 50 nm. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an adjustable-free and movable Nd:YVO_(4)thin disk laser based on the telecentric cat’s eye cavity. We design a V-shaped laser cavity containing two reflectors with Nd:YVO_(4)thin disks as the gain medium.The experimental results from the traditional plane-plane cavity, plane-telecentric cat’s eye cavity, and double telecentric cat’s eye cavity are compared. They show that plane-telecentric cat’s eye cavity laser can keep operating at the adjustablefree range of -6° to +6°, which is up to 60 times better than that of traditional plane-plane cavity. In the double telecentric cat’s eye case, the adjustable-free range is improved to-13° to +13°. Additionally, in the case of the double telecentric cat’s eye cavity, the output telecentric cat’s eye can achieve free movement within the horizontal range of ±20 mm. 展开更多

A simple,compact,double-pass pumped Nd:YVO4 thin disk laser is demonstrated.Its continuous-wave performance with different Nd doping concentrations and thicknesses is investigated experimentally.The maximum output power of 17.7 W is achieved by employing a 0.5 at.%doped sample,corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 46% with respect to the absorbed pump power.In addition,a numerical analysis and an experimental study of the temperature distribution,and thermal lens effect of the Nd:YVO4 thin disk,are presented considering the influence of the energy transfer upconversion effect and the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity tensor.The simulated results are in good agreement with the experimental results. 展开更多

This paper has derived the general formulae of observed line profiles based on the effects of radial velocity on the standard thin disk fluid around a rotating black hole. Through the ray-tracing method the line profiles of different parameters have been calculated. Comparison of the line profiles with and without a radial velocity shows that the effects of radial velocity on line profiles cannot be neglected in most cases. In both cases the accretive disk imaging shape remains unchanged. 展开更多

We theoretically study the nonlinear compression of a 20-rnJ, 1030-nm picosecond chirped pulse from the thin-disk amplifier in a krypton gas-filled hollow-core fiber. The chirp from the thin-disk amplifier system has little influence on the initial pulse, however, it shows an effect on the nonlinear compression in hollow-core fiber. We use a large diameter hollow waveguide to restrict undesirable nonlinear effects such as ionization; on the other hand, we employ suitable gas pressure and fiber length to promise enough spectral broadening; with 600-μm, 6-bar (1 bar = 105 Pa), 1.8-m hollow fiber, we obtain 31.5-fs pulse. Moreover, we calculate and discuss the optimal fiber lengths and gas pressures with different initial durations induced by different grating compression angles for reaching a given bandwidth. These results are meaningful for a compression scheme from picoseconds to femtoseconds. 展开更多

This paper reports that amorphous silicon nitride (a-SiNx) overcoats were deposited at room temperature by microwave ECR plasma enhanced unbalanced magnetron sputtering. The 2 nm a-SiNs overcoat has better anti-corrosion properties than that of reference a-CNx overcoats (2 4.5 nm). The superior anti-corrosion performance is attributed to its stoichiometric bond structure, where 94.8% Si atoms form Si-N asymmetric stretching vibration bonds. The N/Si ratio is 1.33 as in the stoichiometry of Si3N4 and corresponds to the highest hardness of 25.0 GPa. The surface is atomically smooth with RMS 〈 0.2 nm. The ultra-thin a-SiNx overcoats are promising for hard disks and read/write heads protective coatings. 展开更多

Deep Ultraviolet Dual Comb from a Thin-Disk Laser

Dual-comb spectroscopy provides a marked advantage over single-comb techniques for molecular fingerprinting,particularly in terms of scanning speed.The single-cavity dual-comb system is a simpler approach to dual-comb operation.This system utilized a single free-running oscillator to generate both combs,eliminating the complex setups with multiple lasers.Here,we report a high-power deep ultraviolet(DUV)dual comb driven by a thin-disk single-cavity(TDSC)Yb:YAG dual-comb laser.A TDSC Yb:YAG oscillator generates 2 comb beams with repetition rates near 76 MHz,differing by a few kilohertz and tunable by adjusting one cavity arm.Both combs operate at a central wavelength of 1,030 nm with pulse durations of 431 and 411 fs,respectively,and achieve average output powers of 5 W each.We employed the TDSC as a light source for a ranging system,demonstrating a measurement difference accuracy of 1.23μm for a target at 6.5 m with an average acquisition time of 330 ms.To extend the dual comb to DUV region,we generated the second and fourth harmonics using LBO and BBO crystals,respectively,with conversion efficiencies exceeding 40%and 10%for both comb beams.With over 300 mW of power at 258 nm for each comb,we successfully demonstrated DUV dual-comb operation with a frequency difference of 20 kHz.This represents the first DUV dual comb generated by a TDSC laser.Finally,we discussed the prospect of extending the dual-comb range to extreme UV and terahertz dual combs based on the TDSC Yb:YAG laser platform. 展开更多

为了解决现有漂浮解雇的技术局限性,针对现有漂浮接箍存在滑套卡阻或破裂盘破碎压力不稳定及破碎后边部残留影响后续工具通过及压裂时对其抗拉、抗内压强度要求高的问题,开发由薄球壳破裂盘和全通径、等管体强度性能的壳体结构组成的漂... 为了解决现有漂浮解雇的技术局限性,针对现有漂浮接箍存在滑套卡阻或破裂盘破碎压力不稳定及破碎后边部残留影响后续工具通过及压裂时对其抗拉、抗内压强度要求高的问题,开发由薄球壳破裂盘和全通径、等管体强度性能的壳体结构组成的漂浮接箍,设计了全压结构的高硼硅薄球壳破裂盘,采用薄球壳失稳的经典公式确定了薄球壳壁厚。模拟结果显示,当在上部外表面施加60 MPa压力载荷时,最大应力集中在底部边界内侧,应力达到590 MPa,高于高硼硅玻璃的抗压强度,破裂盘破碎;设计两段式的壳体结构,内通径为Φ121.36 mm,与连接套管一起,实现全通径;壳体在最大拉力为2 565.32 kN、最高内压为102 MPa的简化B系试验过程中未发生泄漏,达到了连接套管的等管体强度;分别在室温、180℃两种温度条件下,模拟循环压裂100次,未发生结构失效或泄漏现象,表明该漂浮接箍具有承压强度高、破碎压力稳定、入井工具通过性好的特点,满足下套管和后续施工的需求。 展开更多
