As a nonparametric method,the Kruskal-Wallis test is widely used to compare three or more independent groups when an ordinal or interval level of data is available,especially when the assump-tions of analysis of variance (ANOVA) are not met.If the Kruskal-Wallis statistic is statistically signifi-cant,Nemenyi test is an alternative method for further pairwise multiple comparisons to locate the source of significance.Unfortunately,most popular statistical packages do not integrate the Nemenyi test,which is not easy to be calculated by hand.We described the theory and applications of the Kruskal-Wallis and Nemenyi tests,and presented a flexible SAS macro to implement the two tests.The SAS macro was demonstrated by two examples from our cohort study in occupational epidemiology.It provides a useful tool for SAS users to test the differences among three or more independent groups using a nonparametric method. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to screen high-yield and high-quality strains suitable for promotion and cultivation in Shandong Province in winter and spring,and provide production enterprises with better production strains.[Methods]The clinker bag cultivation method was used to compare the cultivated products of 30 Pleurotus spp.strains,and the data on mycelial growth rate,growth morphology,biological characteristics of fruit bodies and yield were collected for comparison.[Results]Compared with other strains,such four strains as Pinggu 8633,Gaochan 8105,Tekang 650 and Ping 8129 had significantly higher adaptability,higher yield and better marketability.[Conclusions]Pinggu 8633,Gaochan 8105,Tekang 650 and Ping 8129 can be used as the main varieties for winter and spring oyster mushrooms production in Shandong Province. 展开更多

In order to identify new potato varieties bred in Guizhou province in recent years, select excellent disease-resistant varieties suitable for large-scale popularization and planting, and provide variety reserve for Weining potato production. With the support of potato institute of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the comprehensive characters of new potato varieties (lines) selected from strain tests were identified, such as stress resistance, high yield, potato quality, adaptability, etc. This year, a potato comparative test was conducted in Guizhou province. The results showed that the highest yield of the tested variety Bishu No.10 was 1819.6 kg/mu, which was 29.2% higher than that of the control Weiyu No.5, followed by Qianyu No.16, with a yield of 1744.45 kg/mu, which was 23.8% higher than that of the control. 展开更多

To compare the diagnostic value of four signs for superior labrum anterior and posterior (SLAP) lesions of the shoulder.Methods The physical examination was performed randomly on 81 cases with abnormalities of the shoulder.There were four tests,including Kibler anterior sliding test,Liu crank test,O’Brien active compression test and Kim biceps load test Ⅱ.The arthroscopic examination were also performed.The result of the arthroscopic examination was considered as a golden standard,so that we could estimate the diagnosis value of the four tests according to the method of evaluation of diagnosis test on clinical epidemiology,their sensitivity,specificity,positive and negative predictive value,accuracy.Results There were 21 cases diagnosed as SLAP lesions by arthroscopy.The diagnosis value of Kim biceps load test Ⅱ was the highest among the four tests,in which 19 of true positive,59 of true negative,1 of false positive,only 2 of false negative cases;while the sensitivity was 90.48%,specificity was 98.33%,positive predictive value was 95.00%,negative predictive value was 96.72%,and accuracy was 96.30%.However the sensitivity,specificity,positive predicitive value,negative predictive vale and accuracy of Kibler anterior sliding test were 76.19%,96.67%,88.89%,92.06%,91.33%;and those of Liu crank test were 85.71%,93.33%,81.82%,94.92%,91.35%;those of O’Brien active compression test were 80.95%,91.66%,77.27%,93.22%,88.89%.Conclusion Kim Biceps load test Ⅱ may be the best for clinical diagnosis of SLAP lesions of the shoulder.9 refs,4 figs,2 tabs. 展开更多

Distribution of Sediment Measurements in Lake Michigan as a Case Study: Implications for Estimating Sediment and Water Interactions in Eutrophication and Bioaccumulation Models

Lake Michigan, the sixth largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area, was utilized as a water body for assessment. Field data collected at sampling sites throughout the lake in an intensive monitoring effort were utilized for evaluation of the distribution of sediment measurements. An assessment of sediment nutrient and carbon measurements within Lake Michigan was completed to recognize strata resulting from the hydrodynamics of the system. Nonparametric comparison tests revealed that significant differences exist between measurements of sediment nutrients and organic carbon in the lake using strata based upon water column depth (all results demon-strated a p < 0.05, α = 0.05). Cross-validation analysis was applied to the field-collected samples, revealing that large errors occur when estimating sediment flux of carbon or nutrients at a given location in the lake without considering stratification of the distributions of these measurements. Errors in estimating sediment concentrations of nutrients and carbon specific to a location in the lake demonstrated a statistically significant increase when stratification of sediment measurements wasn’t employed among sites. For example, distributions of errors in estimating all nutrients and organic carbon concentrations, whereby distance squared inverse interpolation methods were applied, demonstrated a statistically significant increase in absence of stratification (all p < 0.001, α = 0.05). These results have implications for characterization, monitoring, and modeling sediment and water interaction as related to eutrophication, as well as to contaminant exposure and bioaccumulation for chemicals within Lake Michigan and large water bodies where stratification of the sediment based upon physics of the system exists. 展开更多

Advantages of Multi-body Simulation within the Design Process of Heavy Drivetrains

For the further design of the particular gearbox components, the alternating cycles of the respective application mean an often insufficient knowledge of the actual loads occuring in use. Especially for the application within lifting units, such dynamic load cycles are very difficult to pre-estimate. The so-called slack rope test represents the most critical point in the load cycle and provides a special challenge for the gearbox design. Because of this missing expert knowledge, a test bench of such an application is installed and applied to practical movement cycles. Besides the test bench, a multi-body simulation model of the whole system is mapped within the MBS (multi-body simulation) environment SIMPACK. To verify this simulation model, the results are compared with the respective measurements of the test bench. These comparisons show very good agreements. Thus, one of the major advantages of using such simulation tools is the possibility to re-evaluate the internal and external loads during the whole design process. Finally, these simulations serve as a clarification of the load spectrum of the different drivetrain components. Gearbox series or different modifications of the design can now be analyzed prospectively without extensive testing. 展开更多

The probative value of animal forensic genetic evidence relies on laboratory accuracy and reliability.Inter-laboratory comparisons allow laboratories to evaluate their performance on specific tests and analyses and to continue to monitor their output.The International Society for Animal Genetics(ISAG)administered animal forensic comparison tests(AFCTs)in 2016 and 2018 to assess the limitations and capabilities of laboratories offering forensic identification,parentage and species determination services.The AFCTs revealed that analyses of low DNA template concentrations(≤300 pg/μL)constitute a significant challenge that has prevented many laboratories from reporting correct identification and parentage results.Moreover,a lack of familiarity with species testing protocols,interpretation guidelines and representative databases prevented over a quarter of the participating laboratories from submitting correct species determination results.Several laboratories showed improvement in their genotyping accuracy over time.However,the use of forensically validated standards,such as a standard forensic short tandem repeat(STR)kit,preferably with an allelic ladder,and stricter guidelines for STR typing,may have prevented some common issues from occurring,such as genotyping inaccuracies,missing data,elevated stutter products and loading errors.The AFCTs underscore the importance of conducting routine forensic comparison tests to allow laboratories to compare results from each other.Laboratories should keep improving their scientific and technical capabilities and continuously evaluate their personnel’s proficiency in critical techniques such as low copy number(LCN)analysis and species testing.Although this is the first time that the ISAG has conducted comparison tests for forensic testing,findings from these AFCTs may serve as the foundation for continuous improvements of the overall quality of animal forensic genetic testing. 展开更多

Traditional cement-based slurries are often constrained by excessive cement consumption,prolonged setting times,and limited controllability,which hinder their broader engineering applications.To overcome these challenges,this study focuses on optimizing ordinary cement-based slurry through the incorporation of targeted additives and rational adjustment of mix proportions,with the aim of developing a rapid-setting,early-strength cementitious system.In particular,a series of comparative and orthogonal experiments were conducted to systematically examine the evolution of the slurry's macroscopic properties.In addition,the response surface methodology(RSM)was introduced to reveal the interaction mechanisms among key parameters,thereby establishing a quantitative foundation for the precise regulation of slurry performance.The comparative results demonstrate that silica fume significantly outperforms fly ash in enhancing both the rheological and mechanical behavior of the slurry.Regarding fluidity,the average consistency and slump of the silica fume mixture were reduced by 80 mm and 75 mm,respectively,compared with those containing fly ash,indicating more effective control of flowability.In terms of setting and strength development,the silica fume slurry exhibited a setting time up to 9.6 h shorter and a compressive strength up to 3.6 MPa higher under identical mix conditions.These results confirm the clear superiority of silica fume in promoting rapid solidification and early strength gain. 展开更多
