In order to increase the transmission efficiency,a subspace-based algorithm for blind channel estimation using second-order statistics is proposed in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems.Because the transmission equation of OFDM systems does not exactly have the desired structure to directly derive a subspace algorithm,the algorithm first divides the OFDM signals into three parts,then,by exploiting the redundancy introduced by the cyclic prefix (CP) in OFDM signals,a new equation with Toeplitz channel matrix is derived.Based on the equation,a new blind subspace algorithm is developed.Toeplitz structure eases the derivation of the subspace algorithm and practical computation.Moreover the algorithm does not change the existing OFDM system,is robust to channel order overdetermination,and the channel zero locations.The performances are demonstrated by simulation results. 展开更多

In this paper,an analysis for ill conditioning problem in subspace identifcation method is provided.The subspace identifcation technique presents a satisfactory robustness in the parameter estimation of process model which performs control.As a frst step,the main geometric and mathematical tools used in subspace identifcation are briefly presented.In the second step,the problem of analyzing ill-conditioning matrices in the subspace identifcation method is considered.To illustrate this situation,a simulation study of an example is introduced to show the ill-conditioning in subspace identifcation.Algorithms numerical subspace state space system identifcation(N4SID)and multivariable output error state space model identifcation(MOESP)are considered to study,the parameters estimation while using the induction motor model,in simulation(Matlab environment).Finally,we show the inadequacy of the oblique projection and validate the efectiveness of the orthogonal projection approach which is needed in ill-conditioning;a real application dealing with induction motor parameters estimation has been experimented.The obtained results proved that the algorithm based on orthogonal projection MOESP,overcomes the situation of ill-conditioning in the Hankel s block,and thereby improving the estimation of parameters. 展开更多

This paper proposes low-cost yet high-accuracy direction of arrival(DOA)estimation for the automotive frequency-modulated continuous-wave(FMcW)radar.The existing subspace-based DOA estimation algorithms suffer fromeither high computational costs or low accuracy.We aim to solve such contradictory relation between complexity and accuracy by using randomizedmatrix approximation.Specifically,we apply an easily-interpretablerandomized low-rank approximation to the covariance matrix(CM)and R∈C^(M×M)throughthresketch maties in the fom of R≈OBQ^(H).Here the approximately compute its subspaces.That is,we first approximate matrix Q∈C^(M×z)contains the orthonormal basis for the range of the sketchmatrik C∈C^(M×z)cwe whichis etrated fom R using randomized unifom counsampling and B∈C^(z×z)is a weight-matrix reducing the approximation error.Relying on such approximation,we are able to accelerate the subspacecomputation by the orders of the magnitude without compromising estimation accuracy.Furthermore,we drive a theoretical error bound for the suggested scheme to ensure the accuracy of the approximation.As validated by the simulation results,the DOA estimation accuracy of the proposed algorithm,eficient multiple signal classification(E-MUSIC)s high,closely tracks standardMUSIC,and outperforms the well-known algorithms with tremendouslyreduced time complexity.Thus,the devised method can realize high-resolutionreal-time target detection in the emerging multiple input and multiple output(MIMO)automotive radar systems. 展开更多

The decoupled coherent Maximum Likelihood (ML) detection algorithm presented in this letter can sharply reduce the complexity of the receiver as well as provide better error performance under the precondition that channel should be estimated first. Considering the bandwidth inefficiency of Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), the acquisition of channel state information through training sequences will further decrease the transmission efficiency. This letter presents a blind channel estimation algorithm based on noise subspace theory which can acquire channel information without any training symbols. The simulation shows that the algorithm brings about fewer channel estimation errors while the frequency efficiency can be increased. 展开更多

Beam space WSF algorithm uses beam outputs of array which can be regarded as the outputs of an virtual array having the same number of elements as the beam number to estimate target directions. In most underwater acoustic systems, the number of beams used for determining the direction of arrival is usually considerably less than that of the sensors, so the computation burdensome is decedent. Computer simulation results show that the beam space WSF algorithm retains the super performance of the sensor space WSF algorithm when applied to the beam outputs of some practical acoustic-receiving array. 展开更多

In order to ease the pass-band response distortion of the matrix pre-filter,a simple approach for designing matrix spatial filter is proposed,which minimizes the sum of the k maximal distortion norm(k is the number of the constraint points)within the pass-band,while constraining the filter response within the stop-band.Considering the costly amount of calculation of the high-resolution methods,an algorithm with small amount of calculation based on matrix pre-filtering and subspace fitting using acoustic vector array(MF-VSSF)is proposed.Through joint processing of signal subspace of both pressure and particle velocity,the pre-filtering matrix and the signal subspace is decreased to M-dimensional(M is the number of array-element),hence reduces the time-consumption of the matrix pre-filter design and DOA searching.Simulation results show that,the method offers the same performance as MUSIC with pre-filtering,but has much lesser amount of calculation.Moreover,the designed prefilter can efficiently suppress the interference in the stop-band and improve the estimation and resolution performance of successive DOA estimators. 展开更多

The occurrence of low-frequency electromechanical oscillations is a major problem in the effective operation of power systems. The scrutiny of these oscillations provides substantial information about power system stability and security. In this paper, a new method is introduced based on a combination of synchrosqueezed wavelet transform and the stochastic subspace identification (SSI) algorithm to investigate the low-frequency electromechanical oscillations of large-scale power systems. Then, the estimated modes of the power system are used for the design of the power system stabilizer and the flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) device. In this optimization problem, the control parameters are set using a hybrid approach composed of the Prony and residual methods and the modified fruit fly optimization algorithm. The proposed mode estimation method and the controller design are simulated in MATLAB using two test case systems, namely IEEE 2-area 4-generator and New England-New York 68-bus 16-generator systems. The simulation results demonstrate the high performance of the proposed method in estimation of local and inter-area modes, and indicate the improvements in oscillation damping and power system stability. 展开更多

The problem of blind channel identification in a multiuser system is considered in this article. For this purpose, a blind identification algorithm is proposed based on the conjugate cyclostationarity of the received signal. The new approach contains a two-stage identification procedure. First, the separation technique in the cyclic domain is used to separate the second-order cyclic statistics for each user. Second, a subspace algorithm based on the rational subspace theory is exploited to estimate the desired channel. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that this algorithm is suitable for a multiuser system. Compared with other methods, the algorithm shows good performance even in a bad situation when the number of users is large and the diversity condition is unavailable. 展开更多
