This study explores the influence of after-school tutoring on reading comprehension skills of students with dyslexia(DD)in grades 3-5 in China and its participating factors.Using a mixed-methods design,the quantitativ...This study explores the influence of after-school tutoring on reading comprehension skills of students with dyslexia(DD)in grades 3-5 in China and its participating factors.Using a mixed-methods design,the quantitative data(GORT-4 reading test)of 50 public primary school students in Qingdao and their parents’feedback were collected through questionnaires,supplemented by semi-structured interviews with eight parents for qualitative analysis.The findings are as follows:(1)Family socioeconomic status and parents’awareness of DD are the key factors to participate in after-school counseling;(2)The students who participated in the after-school counseling performed significantly better in the GORT-4 comprehension test(P<0.05);(3)Counseling makes up for the lack of classroom learning through personalized strategies(such as multi-sensory teaching and phonological awareness training),but parents’psychological support is the core of successful intervention.The necessity of early targeted intervention was emphasized,and practical enlightenment was provided for the educational support system of DD students in China.展开更多

[Method] N and P intercepting project construction of the ecological ditches and pond in Zhaiji Village, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City as research object, by repairing 1 834 m3 of original drainage ditches, newly excavating 6 800 m2 of ecological main ditches and 6 000 m2 of artificial purification ecological pond, etc., runoff emission load in real control area of the project was counted. [Result] Annual net loads of the runoff emission for TN and TP were respectively 2 552.22 and 95.00 kg in 33.3 hm2 of farmland. Annual runoff intercepting loads of TN and TP were respectively 1 225.07 and 50.35 kg in ditches. Annual runoff intercepting loads of TN and TP were respectively 1 327.15 and 44.65 kg in ecological pond. In effluent, TN concentration was 6.32 mg/L and was smaller than 15 mg/L. TP concentration was 0.25 mg/L and was smaller than 0.5 mg/L. They both reached level-one A discharge standard. [Conclusion] The research provided theoretical basis for effective control of the agricultural non-point source pollution in Taihu Lake basin.展开更多

Hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cell (RBC), reticulocyte (Ret) and hemoglobin F (HbF) were checked every month. At the same time, PAGE, PVR, PCR-SSCP, RT-PCR, DNA series analysis, mRNA gene expression analysis techniques were used to conduct the systematic gene analysis in patients to study the molecular mechanism of TCM treatment from aspects of gene mutation, gene expression and control-regulation. However, there are few literatures that provide accurate approaches for determining the gravitational potential of a prism. Discrete element method can be used to determine the gravitational potential of a prism, and can approximate the true gravitational potential values with sufficient accuracy (the smaller each element is, the more accurate the result is). Although Nagy's approach provided a closed expression, one does not know whether it is valid, due to the fact that this approach has not been confirmed in literatures. In this paper, a study on the comparison of Nagy's approach with discrete element method is presented. The results show that Nagy's formulas for determining the gravitational potential of a prism are valid in the domain both inside and outside the prism.展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy,safety,satisfaction,discomfort and patient preference of moxa cones of artemisia vulgaris and charcoal moxa.METHODS:This comparative study of moxibustion treatment with Artemisia vul...OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy,safety,satisfaction,discomfort and patient preference of moxa cones of artemisia vulgaris and charcoal moxa.METHODS:This comparative study of moxibustion treatment with Artemisia vulgaris and charcoal moxa cone stimulating Zhongwan(CV 12) is a cross-over single-blinded,randomized clinical trial.A total of 40 healthy subjects(24 males and 16females) participated in this study.Two subjects dropped out of the trial.Thirty-eight subjects were treated with Artemisia vulgaris and charcoal moxa cones for 30 min in a cross-over design.After treatment,the patients underwent a 30 minute waiting period,and then the temperatures at Tanzhong(CV 17),Zhongwan(CV 12) and Guanyuan(CV 4) were measured using digital infrared thermal imaging.RESULTS:After the use of Artemisia vulgaris moxa,the patients' body temperatures were slightly lowered at Tanzhong(CV 17),Zhongwan(CV 12)and Guanyuan(CV 4),but the changes were not statistically significant.After the use of charcoal moxa,the patients' body temperatures were somewhat increased at Zhongwan(CV 12) and Guanyuan(CV 4),but the changes were not statistically significant.After Artemisia vulgaris moxa use,the body temperature difference between Zhongwan(CV 12) and Guanyuan(CV 4)was significantly increased.After charcoal moxa use,the body temperature difference between Tanzhong(CV 17) and Zhongwan(CV 12) was significantly decreased in males and in the whole group.This change was caused by the difference in the moxibustion type and by gender differences.CONCLUSION:This pilot study found that moxibustion did not raise the body temperature,but temperature differences between acupoints were affected.Further large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed for the effect of moxibustion on body temperature.展开更多
