Based on the microscopic nonlocal optical response theory, the intersubband optical absorption properties in AlGa As/Ga As couple quantum wells(CQWs) are investigated for p-polarized states. The numerical results show that spatial nonlocality of optical responses can induce a radiation shift on optical absorption spectra due to nonlocal effects. The dependence of the radiation shift on the CQW structure and the applied electric field is clarified. It is also demonstrated that the maximal radiation shift and the least optical absorbance can be obtained by adopting an appropriate CQW structure and a suitable applied electric field. This work may provide some methods of designing the nanomaterials with controllable nonlocality and observing the spatial nonlocal effects in experiment. 展开更多

The spontaneous emission rate of a two-level quantum emitter(QE)near a gold nanorod is numerically investigated.Three different optical response models for the free-electron gas are adopted, including the classical Drude local response approximation, the nonlocal hydrodynamic model, and the generalized nonlocal optical response model.Nonlocal optical response leads to a blueshift and a reduction in the enhancement of the spontaneous emission rate.Within all the three models, the resonance frequency is largely determined by the aspect ratio(the ratio of the nanorod length to the radius)and increases sharply with decreasing aspect ratio. For nanorod with a fixed length,it is found that the larger the radius is,the higher the resonance frequency is,and the smaller the enhancement is.However,if the length of the nanorod increases, the peak frequency falls sharply, while the spontaneous emission enhancement grows rapidly. For nanorod with a fixed aspect ratio, the peak frequency decreases slowly with increasing nanorod size.Larger nanorod shows smaller nonlocal effect. At a certain frequency, there is an optimal size to maximize the enhancement of the spontaneous emission rate.Higher order modes are more affected by the nonlocal smearing of the induced charges, leading to larger blueshift and greater reduction in the enhancement. These results should be significant for investigating the spontaneous emission rate of a QE around a gold nanorod. 展开更多

We investigate the co-propagation of a strong pump beam and a weak signal beam in lead glass, and find that the large phase shift of the strongly nonlocal spatial optical soliton (SNSOS) can be realized via cross-phase modulation. The theoretical study suggests a synchronous propagation of the pump SNSOS and the signal SNSOS under the required initial condition. A π-phase shift of the signal SNSOS is experimentally obtained by changing the power of the pump SNSOS by about 13 mW around the soliton critical power, which agrees qualitatively with our theoretical prediction. The ratio of the phase shift rate of the signal SNSOS to that of the pump SNSOS shows a close match to the reciprocal of the ratio between their wavelengths. 展开更多

Based on the picture of nonJinear and non-parabolic symmetry response, i.e., Δn2 (I) ≈ ρ(ao + a1x - a2 x^2), we propose a model for the transversal beam intensity distribution of the nonlocal spatial soliton. In this model, as a convolution response with non-parabolic symmetry, Δn2 (I)≈ρ(b0+ b1f - b2 f^2 with b2/b1 〉 0 is assumed. Furthermore, instead of the wave function Ψ, the high-order nonlinear equation for the beam intensity distribution f has been derived and the bell-shaped soliton solution with the envelope form has been obtained. The results demonstrate that, since the existence of the terms of non-parabolic response, the nonlocal spatial soliton has the bistable state solution. If the frequency shift of wave number β satisfies 0 〈 4(β - ρbo/μ) 〈 3η0/8α, the bistable state soliton solution is stable against perturbation. It should be emphasized that the soliton solution arising from a parabolic-symmetry response kernel is trivial. The sufficient condition for the existence of bistable state soliton solution b2/b1〉 0 has been demonstrated. 展开更多

Based on the nonlocal nonlinear Schr6dinger equation, the propagation properties of anomalous hollow beams in strongly isotropic nonlocal media are investigated. The analytical expressions of the beam propagation, the on-axis intensity and the beam width are obt.ained. The results show that the evolution of the beam is periodical and the input power is the most important parameter. The input power determines the variation of the period. Furthermore, it is found that there exists a critical input power in the x direction and in the y direction separately when the initial beam widths in the two transversal directions are unequal. The beam width remains invariant in the corresponding transversal direction when the input power equals the critical power in one of the transversal directions. Selecting a properinput power, the beam can be broadened or compressed in the two transversal directions at the same time, In particular, the beam can be broadened (compressed) in one transversal direction, whereas in the other transversal direction, it is compressed (broadened), i.e., the transversal reverse transformation. 展开更多

An integrated method based on optical and digital image processing is presented to suppress speckle in digital holography. A spatial light modulator is adopted to introduce random phases to the illuminating beam. Multiple holograms are reconstructed and superimposed, and the intensity is averaged to smooth the noise. The adaptive algorithm based on the nonlocal means is designed to further suppress the speckle. The presented method is compared with other methods reduction is improved, and the proposed method is effective The experimental results show that speckle and feasible. 展开更多
