A number of oil-generating associations with various characteristics of organic geochemistry and assemblages of multiple reservoir facies are developed due to the multi-center sedimentation, multi-source supply and multi-cycle evolution of filling, which have resulted in the formation of multiple oil and gas accumulation zones of various layers and trap styles. Among them the Paleogene Shahejie Formation is the most important hydrocarbon accumulation combination in the Dongying sag. Heretofore, its proved reserve has reached nearly 1.8×109t, which accounts for more than 90% of the total proved reserves of the Dongying sag. Based on previous studies, more than 600 source rock samples and 186 crude oil samples of the Shahejie Formation, collected from 30 oilfields, have been treated with organic geochemical testing. By combining the sedimentary sequence characteristics and geochemical analysis results, the source rocks of the Shahejie Formation can be divided into three genetic types, i.e. the saline lake facies (the upper ES4, brackish water deep lake facies (the lower ES3) and fresh-water lake facies (the middle ES3), which correspond to the under-filling, balanced-filling and over-filling lake types respectively and represent the three most essential genetic models for source rocks of non-marine fault basins in China. Based on a thorough oil-source correlation, the source rocks of the saline lake and brackish deep lake facies are determined to be the most contributive source rocks in the Dongying sag. Furthermore, by probing into the accumulation of organic matter and hydrocarbon migration pattern, it can be inferred that the hydrocarbons, generated from source rocks of the saline lake facies with relatively low maturity, have mainly accumulated in the uplifted parts of the basin's margin via lateral migration and the reservoirs are dominated by the buried hill and stratigraphic types, while hydrocarbons generated from source rocks of the brackish lake facies are mainly distributed in the basin's center via vertical migration and characterized by forming lithologic reservoirs. Also, the reservoirs located in the transitional belts have complex types and mostly controlled by faults, characterized by block (structural-lithologic) reservoirs, and the crude oils mainly come from source beds of Es31 and Es42 respectively.展开更多

Through the analysis of trace elements, organic macerals and biomarkers, it is indicated that plankton has made little contribution to Oligocene source rocks compared with the terrestrial higher plants. The organic matter preservation depends on hydrodynamics and the redox environment, and the former is the major factor in the study area. During the sedimentary period of the Yacheng Formation, tidal flats were developed in the central uplift zone, where the hydrodynamic conditions were weak and the input of terrestrial organic matter was abundant. So the Yacheng Salient of the central uplift zone is the most favorable area for the development of source rocks, followed by the central depression zone. During the sedimentary period of the Lingshui Formation, the organic matter input was sufficient in the central depression zone due to multiple sources of sediments. The semi-enclosed environment was favorable for organic matter accumulation, so high quality source rocks could be easily formed in this area, followed by the Yacheng salient of central uplift zone. Source rocks were less developed in the northern depression zone owing to poor preservation conditions,展开更多

However, there are problems, such as whether high-quality source rocks exist or not? What high-quality source rocks are, and how to identify them, are yet to be agreed upon. Aimed at this issue of concern to explorationists, and taking the Beier Sag in the Hailaer Basin as an example, this paper defines the high-quality source rocks and the lower limit for evaluation of high-quality source rocks, by using the inflection point on the relationship curve of hydrocarbon (oil) expulsion, which is calculated by the material balance principle, versus total organic carbon (TOC). The results show that when TOC is low, all source rocks have limited hydrocarbon expulsion and slow growth rate, thus they cannot be high-quality source rocks. However, when TOC rises to some threshold, hydrocarbon expulsion increases significantly with TOC. This inflection point should be the lower limit of high-quality source rocks: those with TOC greater than the inflection-point value are high-quality source rocks. In addition, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks is also related to the type and maturity of organic matters in the source rocks, as well as the mineral components of the source rocks affecting the residual hydrocarbons. Theoretically, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks depends on geological conditions rather than being a constant value. However, for the sake of simplicity and practicability, in this paper TOC=2.0% is regarded as the lower limit of high-quality source rocks. The examination of such standard in the work area indicates that the high-quality source rocks in members K^n2 and K^n~ of the Nantun formation contribute 76% and 82% to oil generation, and 96% and 91% to oil expulsion, respectively. The distribution of high-quality source rocks is also closely related to the distribution of hydrocarbon reservoirs in the region, demonstrating that high-quality source rocks control hydrocarbon accumulation.展开更多

An integrated approach based on vitrinite reflectance and apatite fission track data was used in the reconstruction. Accordingly, the geothermal conditions of gas accumulation were discussed in terms of the geological features of reservoirs in the northeastern Sichuan Basin. The strata reached their maximum burial depth in the Late Cretaceous era and were then uplifted and denuded continuously to the present day. The geothermal gradient and heat flow in the Late Cretaceous era were approximately 30.0 °C/km and 66 mW/m2, respectively, which were both higher than those at present. The tectonothermal evolution from the Late Cretaceous era to the present is characterized by denudation and cooling processes with an erosion thickness of2.7 km. In addition to the Triassic era, the Jurassic era represents an important hydrocarbon generation period for both Silurian and Permian source rocks, and the organic matter maturity of these source rocks entered into a dry gas period after oil generation. The thermal conditions are advantageous to the accumulation of conventional and unconventional gas because the hydrocarbon generation process of the source rocks occurs after the formation of an effective reservoir cap. In particular, the high geothermal gradient and increasing temperature before the denudation in the Late Cretaceous era facilitated the generation of hydrocarbons, and the subsequent cooling process favored its storage.展开更多

This study conducted a conventional evaluation of T3x5 source rocks in the WSD, and investigated their hydrocarbon generation and expulsion characteristics, including intensity, efficiency and amount. The results show that, the T3x5 source rocks are thick (generally 〉200 m), and have a high total organic content (TOC), ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 wt%. It is thus indivative of a great hydrocarbon generation potential when they underwent high thermal evolution (Ro〉1.2%) in the area. In addition, an improved method of hydrocarbon generation potential is applied, indicating that the source rocks reached a hydrocarbon expulsion threshold with vitrinite reflectance (Ro) reaching 1.06%. and that the comprehensive hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency is about 60%. The amount of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion from Tax5 source rocks is 3.14x10^10 t and 1.86x10^10 t, respectively, with a residual amount of 1.28x10^10t within them. Continuous-type tight-sand gas is predicted to have developed in the Jurassic in the Chengdu Sag of the WSD because of the good source-reservoir configuration; the Jurassic sandstone reservoirs are tight, and the gas expelled from the T3xs source rocks migrates for very short distances vertically and horizontally. The amount of gas accumulation in the Jurassic reservoirs derived from T3x5 source rocks is up to 9.3x10s t. Geological resources of shale gas are up to 1.05x10TM t. Small differences between the amounts calculated by the volumetric method and those obtained by hydrocarbon generation potential method may be due to other gas accumulations present within interbedded sands associated with gas shales.展开更多

However, in some drilling wells of deep water area close to the central depression belt, Miocene marine source rocks with better organic matter abundance and hydrocarbon generation have been found, which have achieved better source rock standard based on the analysis of geochemical charac- teristics. Although there are no exploratory wells in deep water area of the research region, through the comparative analysis of geochemical data of several typical exploratory wells respectively from shallow water area in the basin, central depression belt margin in deep-water area of the basin and Site 1148 of deep sea drilling in the South China Sea Basin, it reveals that the tendency of the quality of source rocks becomes positive gradually from delta to bathyal environment, which then becomes negative as in deep oceanic environment. Owing to the lack of terrestrial organic matter input, the important controlling factors of Miocene marine source rocks in the Qiongdongnan Basin are ocean productivity and preservation conditions of organic matter. The element geochemistry data indicate that the tendency of the paleoproductivity and the preservation conditions of organic matter become positive as water depth increase from shallow area to bathyal area close to central depression belt. So it is speculated that there must exist high quality source rocks in the central depression area where the preservation conditions of organic matter are much better. Besides, in theory, in oxygen-poor zone of oceanic environment at the water depth 400–1 000 m, the preservation conditions of organic matter are well thus forming high-quality marine source rocks. The result- ing speculation, it is reasonable to consider that there are high hydrocarbon generation potential source rocks in bathyal environment of the Qiongdongnan Basin, especially at the water depth 400– 1 000 m.展开更多

The Sanjianpu and Heishidu Formations have high REE concentrations (∑REE=264.8 μg·g^(-1), 328.2 μg·g^(-1) respectively), high Eu anomaly (δ_(Eu)=0.57, 0.67 respectively) and lower Eu/Sm ratios (0.18~0.19), which differs from existent metamorphic rocks in the Dabie Mountains, so where their source rocks came from remains to be studied. The REE features of the Zhengyangguan Formation can be comparable to the Dabie complex and Luzhenguan Group, which shows that the Dabie complex had suffered unroofing in Neocene and constituted the source rocks. Mesozoic sandstones in Huainan area have lower REE concentrations (∑REE=80.9 μg·g^(-1)), high Eu anomaly (δ_(Eu)=0.66) and (La/Yb)_N of 5.7, and it indicates that their source rocks may not come from the Dabie Mountains.展开更多

In this study, organic geochemistry and petrology were used to determine the abundance of organic matter(OM), OM type, OM maturity, and sedimentary environments of the source rocks, collected from Cenozoic Shahejie Formation, Banqiao Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, China. Vitrinite and liptinite are the main maceral composition of the source rocks, and range from 18% to 81% and from 2% to82% on a mineral matter free(MMF) basis, respectively. The values of vitrinite reflectance(Ro)(0.36%-1.20%) and the Tmaxvalues(397-486.C) show that the thermal maturity range from low mature to peak-maturity. The abundance of OM varies between 0.22% and 4.37%, suggesting that the source rocks of the Shahejie(Es) Formation are mainly fair to good source rocks. The Rock-Eval pyrolysis results show that the source rocks have good petroleum generation potential. The amount of free hydrocarbons(S_1)and hydrocarbons generated from pyrolysis(S_(2)) range within 0.01-3.70 mg/g, and 0.04-29.17 mg/g. The hydrogen index(HI) varies between 18.18 and 741.13 mg HC/g TOC, with most of the samples appearing to be mainly Type II kerogen, and thereby exhibiting the ability to generate both oil and gas. The ratios of Pr/Ph, the cross plot of Pr/nC_(17)-Ph/nC_(18), the cross plot of C_(29)/C_(27)-Pr/Ph, and ternary of dibenzothiophene, dibenzofuran, and fluorene, indicate that the Shahejie Formation deposited in suboxic and weak reducing environments. The main biological source is from advanced plants. The maceral composition and rock pyrolysis data indicate the kerogen type is a humic type or mixed sapropelic-humic type. The source rocks of the Shahejie(Es) Formation occur in the oil window, and the abundant organic richness, humic kerogen demonstrate that these rocks are effective oil and gas source rocks. The mudstone rocks in the Shahejie Formation are the main source of oil and gas and represent the main exploration target for the Banqiao Sag. This study enhances the great prospect of oil and gas production in the Banqiao Sag.展开更多

Through the analysis of the samples in the organic petrology method, the microscope features of the sedimentary organic matter were studied. The results indicate that three types of kerogens present in the measured samples. Kerogen type I consists of the laminate algainite, abundant sporinite and only little content of cutinite, which can mainly generate oil. The generation hydrocarbon components of the type II kerogen are dominated by the sporinite, cutinite and little the exinite debris. The type III kerogen is comprised of the sporinite and debris of the exinite with some components of gas generation. Through the analysis of the experiments, the organic kerogen of the Lucaogou formation is mostly comprised of the type I, partially type II, and particularly type III. In Hongyanchi formation, the organic type is mixed by the types II and III. The plot of the ($1+$2) or TOC value and the content of exinite show two trends. From the evolution of burial and the Permian source rocks in Changji Depression, the Permian formation source rock has ended the generation of hydrocarbon. A significant difference in constituents of the organic macerals among three kerogens in these samples leads to the distinction of the potential hydrocarbon generation. The Lucaogou formation for kerogen type I has better potential hydrocarbon generation. It can reach the oil peak with Ro ratio Of 0.9%. For the kerogen II, the oil peak of the source rocks comes late with the Ro ratio of 1.0% with less quantity of the generation hydrocarbon than the kerogen I. For type III, it can mainly generate gas and reach the gas peak with the Ro ratio of 1.3%. In a word, the Lucaogou formation and Hongyanchi formation source rocks with high organic richness in Permian source rocks have well exploration prospects.展开更多

文摘The Early Cambrian Yuertusi Formation(Є_(1)y)in the Tarim Basin of China deposits a continuously developed suite of organic-rich black mudstones, which constitute an important source of oil and gas reservoirs in the Paleozoic. However, its hydrocarbon generation and evolution characteristics and resource potential have long been constrained by deeply buried strata and previous research. In this paper, based on the newly obtained ultra-deep well drilling data, the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion model ofЄ_(1)y shale was established by using data-driven Monte Carlo simulation, upon which the hydrocarbon generation, expulsion, and retention amounts were calculated by using the diagenetic method. The research indicates that theЄ_(1)y shale reaches the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion threshold at equivalent vitrinite reflectances of 0.46%and 0.72%,respectively.The cumulative hydrocarbon generation is 68.88×10^(10)t,the cumulative hydrocarbon expulsion is 35.59×10^(10)t,and the cumulative residual hydrocarbon is 33.29×10^(10)t.This paper systematically and quantitatively calculates the hydrocarbon expulsion at various key geological periods for theЄ_(1)y source rocks in the study area for the first time, more precisely confirming that the black shale of theЄ_(1)y is the most significant source rock contributing to the marine oil and gas resources in the Tarim Basin, filling the gap in hydrocarbon expulsion calculation in the study area, and providing an important basis for the formation and distribution of Paleozoic hydrocarbon reservoirs. The prospect of deep ultra-deep oil and gas exploration in the Tarim Basin is promising.Especially, the large area of dolomite reservoirs under the Cambrian salt and source rock interiors are the key breakthrough targets for the next exploration in the Tarim Basin.

文摘The Upper Triassic successions in the Qiangtang Basin are critical targets for petroleum exploration, yet the key factors controlling OM(organic matter)enrichment in the Bagong Formation source rocks remain unclear. The source rock characteristics and sedimentary environments of the Bagong Formation in the Upper Triassic from well QS9 in the eastern North Qiangtang Basin were analysed through organic geochemistry and major and trace element data, and the factors governing OM enrichment were identified. The results reveal that the TOC content ranges from 0.29%to 2.20%(avg.1.13%).Organic matter from land plants and plankton is characterized by typeⅡ_(2)kerogen but is close to typeⅢkerogen.Organic matter is thermally mature to highly mature. The palaeoclimate shifted from hot with intense weathering to warm with humid moderate weathering. The depositional environments were marine and oxic-suboxic water conditions, with oxidation in the lower part and suboxidation in the upper part.OM enrichment is controlled by the evolution of the sedimentary environment(climate, sea level, and clastic input)and local reducing conditions. This conclusion provides a clear scientific basis for petroleum exploration and high-quality source rock prediction of the Bagong Formation source rocks in the study area.

文摘This paper is a synthetic use of carbon isotope composition,Rock-Eval data, organic petrology, element composition of kerogen, major and trace elements, and biomarker characteristic of the Permian Pingdiquan(P_(2)p)source rocks in the Wucaiwan sag,Junggar Basin,China as proxies(1)for evaluations of hydrocarbon potential, organic matter(OM)composition and thermal maturity of the OM in the source rocks,(2)for reconstruction of paleodepositional environment,and(3)for analysis of controlling factor of organic carbon accumulation. The P_(2)p Formation developed good-excellent source rocks with thermal maturity of OM ranging from low-mature to mature stages. The OM was mainly composed of C_(3)terrestrial higher plants and aquatic organisms including aerobic bacteria, green sulfur bacteria, saltwater and fresh algae,Sphagnum moss species, submerged macrophytes,Nymphaea, and aquatic pollen taxa. The proportion of terrestrial higher plants decreased and that of aquatic organisms increased from margin to center of the sag.The benthic water within reducing environment and brackishwater column were superposed by periodic/occasional fresh-water influx(e.g.,rainfall and river drain),which led to fresh-water conditions and well oxygenating in the water column during overturn process. The whole study area developed lacustrine source rocks without seawater intrusion.During periodic/occasional fresh-water influx periods with plenty of terrestrial plant inputs, the paleoredox conditions of the sag were relatively oxic in the shallow fresh-water which experienced strong oxidation and decomposition of OM,therefore were not conducive for the OM preservation. However, the overall middle primary productivity made up for this deficiency, and was the main controlling factor on the organic carbon accumulation.A suitable supply from terrestrial inputs can promote biotic paleoproductivity, and a relatively high sedimentation rate can reduce oxidation and decomposition times of OM.On the contrary, during the intervals of the fresh-water influxes, relatively reducing conditions are a more important controlling factor on the OM accumulation in the case that the decrease of the terrestrial biotic source.
文摘The discovery of the Bozhong 19-6 gas field, the largest integrated condensate gas field in the eastern China in 2018,opened up a new field for the natural gas exploration deep strata in the Bohai Bay Basin, demonstrating there is a great potential for natural gas exploration in oil-type basins. The ethane isotope of the Bozhong 19-6 condensate gas is heavy, showing the characteristics of partial humic gas.In this paper, aimed at the source rocks of the Bozhong 19-6 gas field in the Bohai Bay Basin, the characteristics of the source rocks in the Bozhong 19-6 structural belt were clarified and the reason are explained from impact of microorganism degradation on hydrocarbon generation of source rocks why the condensate oil and gas had heavy carbon isotope and why it showed partial humic characteristics was explored based on the research of parent materials. The following conclusions were obtained:The paleontology of the Bozhong 19-6 structural belt and its surrounding sub-sags is dominated by higher plants, such as angiosperm and gymnosperm.During the formation of source rocks, under the intensive transformation of microorganism, the original sedimentary organic matter such as higher plants was degraded and transformed by defunctionalization.Especially, the transformation of anaerobic microorganisms on source rocks causes the degradation and defunctionalization of a large number of humic products such as higher plants and the increase of hydrogen content. The degradation and transformation of microorganism don't transform the terrestrial humic organic matter into newly formed“sapropel”hydrocarbons, the source rocks are mixed partial humic source rocks. As a result, hydrogen content incrased and the quality of source rocks was improved, forming the partial humic source rocks dominated by humic amorphous bodies. The partial humic source rocks are the main source rocks in the Bozhong 19-6 gas field, and it is also the internal reason why the isotope of natural gas is heavy.
文摘The exploration conducted in the Bohai Bay basin, eastern China has demonstrated that the abundant petroleum resources have close affinities to the hydrocarbon kitchen with rich organic matter. Also, the reservoirs located in the transitional belts have complex types and mostly controlled by faults, characterized by block (structural-lithologic) reservoirs, and the crude oils mainly come from source beds of Es31 and Es42 respectively.

文摘Hydrocarbon expulsion features and resource potential evaluation of source rocks are crucial for the petroleum exploration.High-maturity marine source rocks have not exhibited a hydrocarbon expulsion mode owing to the lack of low-maturity source rocks in deep petroliferous basins. We considered the Ediacaran microbial dolomite in the Sichuan Basin, the largest high-maturity marine gas layer in China,to exhibit a method that quantitatively characterizes the hydrocarbon expulsion of high-maturity marine source rocks. The experiment of fluid inclusion, rock pyrolysis, and vitrinite reflectance(Ro)of 119 microbial dolomite core samples obtained from the Dengying Formation were performed.A hydrocarbon expulsion model of high-maturity source rock was established, and its resource potential was evaluated. The results showed that the Ediacaran microbial dolomite in the Sichuan Basin is a good source rock showing vast resource potential. The hydrocarbon expulsion threshold is determined to be vitrinite reflectance at 0.92%.The hydrocarbon expulsion intensities in the geologic history is high with maximum of 1.6×10^(7)t/km^(2).The Ediacaran microbial dolomite expelled approximately 1.008×10^(12)t of hydrocarbons, and the recoverable resource was 1.5×10^(12)m^(3).The region can be categorized into areasⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,andⅣ,in decreasing order of hydrocarbon expulsion intensity.Areas with a higher hydrocarbon expulsion intensity have a lower drilling risk and should be prioritized for exploration in the orderⅠ>Ⅱ>Ⅲ>Ⅳ.Two areas, northern and central parts of Ediacaran in the Sichuan Basin, were selected as prospects which had the drilling priority in the future gas exploration. The production data of 55 drilled wells verified the high reliability of this method. This model in this study does not require low-maturity samples and can be used for evaluating high-maturity marine source rocks, which has broad applicability in deep basins worldwide.

文摘Coals developed in the Oligocene Yacheng and Lingshui formations in the Qiongdongnan Basin have high organic matter abundance, and the dark mudstones in the two formations have reached a good source rock standard but with strong heterogeneity. Source rocks were less developed in the northern depression zone owing to poor preservation conditions,

文摘The theory of "source rock control" has evolved from source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, to effective source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, and to high-quality source- rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation. The distribution of high-quality source rocks is also closely related to the distribution of hydrocarbon reservoirs in the region, demonstrating that high-quality source rocks control hydrocarbon accumulation.

文摘Natural gas and condensate derived from Carboniferous-Permian(C-P)coaly source rocks discovered in the Dagang Oilfield in the Bohai Bay Basin(east China)have important implications for the potential exploration of C-P coaly source rocks. This study analyzed the secondary, tertiary, and dynamic characteristics of hydrocarbon generation in order to predict the hydrocarbon potentials of different exploration areas in the Dagang Oilfield. The results indicated that C-P oil and gas were generated from coaly source rocks by secondary or tertiary hydrocarbon generation and characterized by notably different hydrocarbon products and generation dynamics.Secondary hydrocarbon generation was completed when the maturity reached vitrinite reflectance(Ro)of 0.7%-0.9%before uplift prior to the Eocene.Tertiary hydrocarbon generation from the source rocks was limited in deep buried sags in the Oligocene, where the products consisted of light oil and gas.The activation energies for secondary and tertiary hydrocarbon generation were 260-280 kJ/mol and 300-330 kJ/mol,respectively,indicating that each instance of hydrocarbon generation required higher temperature or deeper burial than the previous instance.Locations with secondary or tertiary hydrocarbon generation from C-P coaly source rocks were interpreted as potential oil and gas exploration regions.

文摘Previous studies have postulated the contribution of present-day low-total organic carbon(TOC)marine carbonate source rocks to oil accumulations in the Tabei Uplift,Tarim Basin,China. However, not all present-day low-TOC carbonates have generated and expelled hydrocarbons;therefore,to distinguish the source rocks that have already expelled sufficient hydrocarbons from those not expelled hydrocarbons,is crucial in source rock evaluation and resource assessment in the Tabei Uplift.Mass balance can be used to identify modern low-TOC carbonates resulting from hydrocarbon expulsion. However, the process is quite complicated, requiring many parameters and coefficients and thus also a massive data source. In this paper,we provide a quick and cost effective method for identifying carbonate source rock with present-day low TOC,using widely available Rock-Eval data.First,we identify present-day low-TOC carbonate source rocks in typical wells according to the mass balance approach.Second,we build an optimal model to evaluate source rocks from the analysis of the rocks'characteristics and their influencing factors, reported as positive or negative values of a dimensionless index of Rock-Eval data(IR).Positive IR corresponds to those samples which have expelled hydrocarbons. The optimal model optimizes complicated calculations and simulation processes;thus it could be widely applicable and competitive in the evaluation of present-day low TOC carbonates.By applying the model to the Rock-Eval dataset of the Tabei Uplift,we identify present-day iow-TOC carbonate source rocks and primarily evaluate the contribution equivalent of 11.87×10^9 t oil.

文摘Hydrocarbon resources in the Qiongdongnan Basin have become an important exploration target in China. However, the development of high-quality source rocks in this basin, especially in its deep-water areas, are still not fully understood. In this study, evolutions of sedimentary facies and palaeoenvironment and their influences on the development of source rocks in diverse tectonic regions of the Qiongdongnan Basin were investigated. The results show that during the Oligocene and to Miocene periods, the sedimentary environment of this basin progressively varied from a semi-closed gulf to an open marine environment, which resulted in significant differences in palaeoenvironmental conditions of the water column for various tectonic regions of the basin. In shallow-water areas, the palaeoproductivity and reducibility successively decrease, and the hydrodynamic intensity gradually increases for the water columns of the Yacheng,Lingshui, and Sanya-Meishan strata. In deep-water areas, the water column of the Yacheng and Lingshui strata has a higher palaeoproductivity and a weaker hydrodynamic intensity than that of the Sanya-Meishan strata, while the reducibility gradually increases for the water columns of the Yacheng,Lingshui, and Sanya-Meishan strata. In general, the palaeoenvironmental conditions of the water column are the most favorable to the development of the Yacheng organic-rich source rocks.Meanwhile, the Miocene marine source rocks in the deep-water areas of the Qiongdongnan Basin may also have a certain hydrocarbon potential. The differences in the development models of source rocks in various tectonic regions of continental margin basins should be fully evaluated in the exploration and development of hydrocarbons.

文摘The thermal history and organic matter maturity evolution of the source rocks of boreholes in the Puguang gas field were reconstructed. In particular, the high geothermal gradient and increasing temperature before the denudation in the Late Cretaceous era facilitated the generation of hydrocarbons, and the subsequent cooling process favored its storage.

文摘Tight-sand gas in the Jurassic and shale gas within the fifth member of Xujiahe Formation (T3xs) in the Western Sichuan Basin (WSD) are currently regarded as the most prolific emerging unconventional gas plays in China. Small differences between the amounts calculated by the volumetric method and those obtained by hydrocarbon generation potential method may be due to other gas accumulations present within interbedded sands associated with gas shales.

文摘Drilling wells reveal that the organic matter abundance of Miocene marine source rocks in shallow water area of the Qiongdongnan Basin is relatively low with poor hydrocarbon generation poten- tial. The result- ing speculation, it is reasonable to consider that there are high hydrocarbon generation potential source rocks in bathyal environment of the Qiongdongnan Basin, especially at the water depth 400– 1 000 m.

文摘The late Paleozoic Fengcheng Formation shale(LPF shale)in the Junggar Basin,NW China,is the oldest alkaline source rock discovered in the world, providing a unique perspective with which to explore organic matter(OM)enrichment in alkaline lake environments.Combined with the organic carbon isotope profile and paleoenvironmental proxies, this study reveals that the LPF shale was deposited in an arid climate with high salinity and a strong reducing environment, accompanied by frequent volcanic activity.High TOC values are concentrated in two intervals with frequent fluctuations in OM types.A negative excursion due to changes in sedimentary OM source is found in theδ^(13)C_(org)profile.The excursion corresponds to the OM enrichment interval and is accompanied by abnormally high values of Sr/Ba and Sr/Cu.This implies that the extreme arid climate has led to high salinity, resulting in strong reducibility and changes in paleontological assemblages, which in turn controlled the differential enrichment of OM.The Fengcheng Fm.high-quality source rocks are the result of the combined action of climatic events,volcanism,high-salinity water environment and superior hydrocarbon-generating organisms. The results provide new insights into the formation conditions of terrestrial alkaline high-quality source rocks and the factors controlling alkaline OM enrichment.
文摘Based on the study of REE in Mesozoic-Cenozoic sandstones, the paper indicates that Jurassic Fanghushan and Yuantongshan Formations and Lower Cretaceous Zhougongshan Formation have ∑REE of 157 μg·g^(-1), δ_(Eu) of 0.69 and (La/Yb)_N of 11.1, which are similar to the Foziling and Luzhenguan Groups, and it implies that the latter may be the source rocks of the former. Mesozoic sandstones in Huainan area have lower REE concentrations (∑REE=80.9 μg·g^(-1)), high Eu anomaly (δ_(Eu)=0.66) and (La/Yb)_N of 5.7, and it indicates that their source rocks may not come from the Dabie Mountains.

文摘Kerogen types exert a decisive effect on the onset and capacity of hydrocarbon generation of source rocks.Lacustrine source rocks in the Liaohe Western Depression are characterized by thick deposition, high total organic carbon(TOC)content, various kerogen types, and a wide range of thermal maturity.Consequently, their hydrocarbon generation potential and resource estimation can be misinterpreted. In this study, geochemical tests, numerical analysis, hydrocarbon generation kinetics, and basin modeling were integrated to investigate the differential effects of kerogen types on the hydrocarbon generation potential of lacustrine source rocks.Optimized hydrocarbon generation and expulsion(HGE)models of different kerogen types were established quantitatively upon abundant Rock-Eval/TOC/vitrinite reflectance(R_(o))datasets.Three sets of good-excellent source rocks deposited in the fourth(Es4),third(Es3),and first(Es1)members of Paleogene Shahejie Formation, are predominantly types I-II_(1),II_(1)-II_(2),and II-III,respectively.The activation energy of types I-II_(2)kerogen is concentrated(180-230 kcal/mol),whereas that of type III kerogen is widely distributed(150-280 kcal/mol).The original hydrocarbon generation potentials of types I,II_(1),II_(2),and III kerogens are 790,510,270,and 85 mg/g TOC,respectively. The Ro values of the hydrocarbon generation threshold for type I-III source rocks gradually increase from 0.42%to 0.74%,and Ro values of the hydrocarbon expulsion threshold increase from 0.49%to 0.87%.Types I and II_(1)source rocks are characterized by earlier hydrocarbon generation, more rapid hydrocarbon expulsion, and narrower hydrocarbon generation windows than types II_(2)and III source rocks. The kerogen types also affect the HGE history and resource potential.Three types(conventional, tight, and shale oil/gas)and three levels(realistic, expected, and prospective)of hydrocarbon resources of different members in the Liaohe Western Depression are evaluated.Findings suggest that the Es3 member has considerable conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon resources. This study can quantitatively characterize the hydrocarbon generation potential of source rocks with different kerogen types, and facilitate a quick and accurate assessment of hydrocarbon resources, providing strategies for future oil and gas exploration.

文摘The organic matter(OM)enrichment mechanisms and depositional environment characteristics of lacustrine source rocks in the western Bozhong Sag,Bohai Bay Basin in Northeast China remain controversial. To address these issues, based on Rock-Eval pyrolysis, kerogen macerals,H/C and O/C ratios,GC-MS,major and trace elements, the Dongying Formation Member(Mbr)3(E_(3)d_(3)),the Shahejie Formation mbrs 1 and 2(E_(2)s_(1+2)),and the Shahejie Mbr 3(E_(2)s_(3))source rocks in the western Bozhong Sag were studied. The above methods were used to reveal their geochemical properties,OM origins and depositional environments, all of which indicate that E_(2)s_(1+2)and E_(2)s_(3)are excellent source rocks, and that E_(3)d_(3)is of the second good quality.E_(3)d_(3)source rocks were formed under a warm and humid climate, mainly belong to fluvial/delta facies, the E_(3)d_(3)sediments formed under weakly oxidizing and freshwater conditions.Comparatively, the depositional environments of E_(2)s_(1+2)source rocks were arid and cold climate, representing saline or freshwater lacustrine facies, and the sediments of E_(2)s_(1+2)belong to anoxic or suboxic settings with large evaporation and salinity.During the period of E_(2)s_(3),the climate became warm and humid, indicating the freshwater lacustrine facies, and E_(2)s_(3)was characterized by freshwater and abundant algae. Moreover, compared with other intervals, the OM origin of E_(3)d_(3)source rocks has noticeable terrestrial input. The OM origin of the E_(2)s_(1+2)and E_(2)s_(3)are mainly plankton and bacteria.Tectonic subsidence and climate change have affected the changes of the depositional environment in the western Bozhong Sag,thus controlling the distribution of the source rocks, the geochemical characteristics in the three intervals of lacustrine source rocks have distinct differences.Overall, these factors are effective to evaluate the paleoenvironmental characteristics of source rocks by biomarkers, major and trace elements. The established models may have positive implications for research of lacustrine source rocks in offshore areas with few drillings.

文摘The organic geochemistry and petrology of source rocks determine the hydrocarbon generation potential of the Banqiao Sag. This study enhances the great prospect of oil and gas production in the Banqiao Sag.

文摘From the outcrops in the Yaomoshan and Hongyanchi sections, oil shales, deep dark mudstones or black mudstones with better organic richness were found. In a word, the Lucaogou formation and Hongyanchi formation source rocks with high organic richness in Permian source rocks have well exploration prospects.
