This paper presents our endeavors in developing the large-scale, ultra-high-resolution E3SM Land Model (uELM), specifically designed for exascale computers furnished with accelerators such as Nvidia GPUs. The uELM is a sophisticated code that substantially relies on High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, necessitating particular machine and software configurations. To facilitate community-based uELM developments employing GPUs, we have created a portable, standalone software environment preconfigured with uELM input datasets, simulation cases, and source code. This environment, utilizing Docker, encompasses all essential code, libraries, and system software for uELM development on GPUs. It also features a functional unit test framework and an offline model testbed for comprehensive numerical experiments. From a technical perspective, the paper discusses GPU-ready container generations, uELM code management, and input data distribution across computational platforms. Lastly, the paper demonstrates the use of environment for functional unit testing, end-to-end simulation on CPUs and GPUs, and collaborative code development. 展开更多

Simulation is a powerful technique in evaluating and improving the performance of complex systems.In order to improve the efficiency of simulation experiment design,analysis and evaluation,auxiliary tools are required.Unfortunately,existing tools are usually not meeting the requirements of simulation.Moreover,the restricted interfaces,reusability and expandability influence their efficiency to a certain extent.In this paper,an integrated software environment,HIT-SEDAES,is designed for solving these problems.A process model of simulation experiment design,analysis and evaluation is introduced to guide the development of the software environment.And several solutions are proposed to solve key problems in this development.Finally,an application is used to illustrate how the software environment works for the problems of model validation,effectiveness evaluation and performance analysis. 展开更多

As per the regulations of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC),the country’s carbon emission data hold primacy.Nevertheless,establishing and utilizing a database pose a daunting challenge.This study presents the“Carbon Seer System,”a novel software prototype designed to inform and educate users about the carbon footprint during their production and in daily life.The development process involved a three-stage user interview process,ensuring system’s alignment with user needs and preferences.The system employs machine learning and visual recognition technology,including convolutional neural networks(CNNs),feature pyramid networks,and self-attention mechanisms,enabling users to analyze captured images for carbon emission factors.It automati-cally identifies the carbon emission factors of industrial products,energy producers,household producers,waste treatment,and transportation.A unique“group detection”method allows for the simultaneous analysis of multiple objects in a single image,enhancing user convenience.Additionally,the software features a carbon footprint tracker and a carbon sink dashboard,providing users with insights into their carbon emissions and the efforts needed for off-setting.The study concludes that the“Carbon Seer System”represents a significant step towards individual enable-ment at understanding and actively participating in a low-carbon lifestyle. 展开更多

In this papert a new approach to migrating test pro-grams is presented.
