Recovered samples of Jilin H5 chondrite experimentally shocked to 12-133 GPa were studied to explore the behavior of opaque minerals under shock loading using SEM-EDS,Raman spectroscopy, and TIMA.The following results were obtained.Firstly,at pressures lower than 53GPa,the opaque minerals still keep the unmelted state, while at 78 GPa and higher,FeNi metal and troilite form eutectic intergrowths occurring as disorderly fine veinlets filling the shock-induced fractures in silicate minerals.Secondly, single kamacite grains still maintain their contour at 12 GPa,but a part of brittle troilite grains was fragmented and squeezed into the shock-induced fractures within kamacite grains.At53 and 133 GPa,many more troilite fragments are poured in the kamacite interior to form disordered hybrid aggregates or to form squiggly strips, respectively.Similar phenomena are observed within single troilite grains, but the mineral squeezed into troilite grains is kamacite.Thirdly, chromite is a hard and refractory oxide mineral. When the shock pressure rises step by step from 12 to 133 GPa,the shock effect of chromite is only fragmentation. Its grain size decreases from tens of um at 53 GPa to a few um at 133 GPa.And,fourthly, native copper exhibits distinct redistribution behavior at high temperature. In Jilin samples shock-loaded to 12 GPa,copper initially located at troilite-kamacite interfaces partially transferred into small troilite grains containing fine FeNi particles. At 53 and 133 GPa,native copper preferentially transferred into larger troilite grains containing more particles of eutectic FeNi metal. 展开更多

Jacq, a representative species in dry and hot valleys in Southwest China, were chosen as experimental materials. In this experiment, the D. viscosa seeds were treated at 40, 60, 80 and 100℃ respectively before germination to study impacts of high temperature treatment on their generation rate and to further discuss the roles of fire during the process of vegetation formation in dry and hot valley areas of China. The results show that when the temperature was higher than 40 ℃, the germination rate of D. viscosa seeds was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the heat shock effect was apparent. The germination rate was the highest when the seeds were treated at 80 ℃ for 10 min, reaching 63.00%±2.55%. There was still a significant heat shock effect on the D. viscosa seeds which were stored for one year. In comparison with the conventional method of soaking seeds in hot water, the germination rate of D. viscose seeds which were treated at high temperature before germination increased significantly. 展开更多

In recent years, with the development of simulations about supernova explosion,we have a better understanding about the density profiles and the shock waves in supernovae than before. There might be a reverse shock wave, another sudden change of density except the forward shock wave,or even no shock wave, emerging in the supernova.Instead of using the expression of the crossing probability at the high resonance,PH,we have studied the matter effects on neutrino oscillations in different supernova models. In detail,we have calculated the survival probability of νe(P_s)and the conversion probability of ν_x(P_c) in the Schrodinger equation within a simplified two-flavor framework for a certain case,in which the neutrino transfers through the supernova matter from an initial flavor eigenstate located at the core of the supernova. Our calculations was based on the data of density in three different supernova models obtained from simulations. In our work,we do not steepen the density gradient around the border of the shock wave, which differs to what was done in most of the other simulations. It is found that the mass and the density distribution of the supernova do make a difference on the behavior of P_s and P_c.With the results of P_s and P_c,we can estimate the number of νe(and ν_x) remained in the beam after they go through the matter in the supernova. 展开更多

The influence of high temperature effects on the protrusion of Mach stem in strong shock reflection over a wedge was numerically investigated. A two-dimensional inviscid solver applies finite volume method and unstructured quadrilateral grids were employed to simulate the flow. Theoretical analysis was also conducted to understand the phenomenon. Both numerical and theoretical results indicate a wall-jet penetrating forward is responsible for the occurrence of Mach stem protrusion. The protrusion degree seems to depend on the thermal energy buffer capacity of the testing gas. Approaches to increase the energy buffer capacity, such as vibrational relaxation, molecular dissociation, and increase of frozen heat caoacitv, all tend to escalate the orotrusion effect. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: TO summarize the relationship between heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and cerebra ischemia. DATA SOURCES: An online search of Medline database was undertaken to identify relevant articles published in English from January 1980 to December 2005 by using the keywords of "heat shock protein 70, ischemia". Meanwhile, Chinese relevant articles published from January 2000 to December 2005 were searched in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database and Chinese Journal of Clinical Rehabilitation with the keywords of "heat shock protein 70, cerebral ischemia" in Chinese. STUDY SELECTION : More than 100 related articles were screened, and 29 references mainly about HSP70 and cerebral ischemia were selected, including basic and clinical researches. As to the articles with similar content, those published in the authoritative journals in recent 3 years were preferential. DATA EXTRACTION: A total of 29 articles were collected and classified according to the structure, function and clinical application of HSP70. Among them, 1 article is about the structure of HSP70, 27 about the relationship between HSP70 and cerebral ischemia, and 2 about the clinical application of HSP70. DATA SYNTHESIS: HSP70 is one of the most conservative proteins during biological evolution. Experiments in cerebral ischemia revealed that HSP70 expression was time-dependent, also correlated with the injured site and severity. The cerebral ischemia induced HSP70 gene expression in hippocampus of gerbil had protection to tolerance of fatal ischemic injury for neurons. The increase of HSP70 expression may be one of the endogenous protective mechanisms during cerebral ischemia, and can effectively alleviate cerebral ischemia. Thus HSP70 protein and HSP70 mRNA have been taken as important indexes extensively applied in the basic study of cerebral ischemia by some scholars abroad. CONCLUSION: HSP70 plays a protective role in cerebral ischemia, and a deeper research into the biological function of HSP70 will provide a new way for the therapy of cerebral ischemia. 展开更多

In ground tests of hypersonic scramjet, the highenthalpy airstream produced by burning hydrocarbon fuels often contains contaminants of water vapor and carbon dioxide. The contaminants may change the ignition characteristics of fuels between ground tests and real flights. In order to properly assess the influence of the contaminants on ignition characteristics of hydrocarbon fuels, the effect of water vapor and carbon dioxide on the ignition delay times of China RP-3 kerosene was studied behind reflected shock waves in a preheated shock tube. Experiments were conducted over a wider temperature range of 800-1 500 K, at a pressure of 0.3 MPa, equivalence ratios of 0.5 and 1, and oxygen concentration of 20%. Ignition delay times were determined from the onset of the excited radical OH emission together with the pressure profile. Ignition delay times were measured for four cases: (1) clean gas, (2) gas vitiated with 10% and 20% water vapor in mole, (3) gas vitiated with 10% carbon dioxide in mole, and (4) gas vitiated with 10% water vapor and 10% carbon dioxide, 20% water vapor and 10% carbon dioxide in mole. The results show that carbon dioxide produces an inhibiting effect at temperatures below 1 300 K when Ф = 0.5, whereas water vapor appears to accelerate the ignition process below a critical temperature of about 1 000 K when Ф = 0.5. When both water vapor and carbon dioxide exist together, a minor inhibiting effect is observed at Ф = 0.5, while no effect is found at Ф = 1.0. The results are also discussed preliminary by considering both the combustion reaction mechanism and the thermophysics properties of the fuel mixtures. The current measurements demonstrate vitiation effects of water vapor and carbon dioxide on the autoignition characteristics of China RP-3 kerosene at air-like O2 concentration. It is important to account for such effects when data are extrapolated from ground testing to real flight conditions. 展开更多

The 3.6 km-diameter Colonia impact crater, centred at 2352'03"S and 4642'27"W,?lies 40 km to the south-west of the S?o Paulo city. The structure was formed on the crystalline basement rocks and displays a bowl-shaped with steeper slope near the top that decreases gently toward the centre of the crater. Over recent years were drilled two boreholes inside the crater, which reached a maximum depth of 142 m and 197 m. Geological profile suggests four different lithological associations: 1) unshocked crystalline basement rocks (197 - 140 m);2) fractured/brecciated basement rocks (140 - 110 m);3) polymictic allochthonous breccia deposits (110 - 40 m);and 4) post-impact deposits (40 - 0 m). Petrographic characterisation of the polymictic allochthonous breccia reveals a series of distinctive shock-metamorphic features, including, among others, planar deformation features in quartz, feldspar and mica, ballen silica, granular texture in zircon and melt-bearing impact rocks. The occurrence of melt particles and very high-pressure phase transformation in suevite breccia suggest a shock pressure regime higher than 60 GPa. 展开更多

In this paper, mathematical models and dynamic analyses for both SDOF and MDOF structures isolated with dampers are established and performed, and a comprehensive computation method is provided. The shock absorbing effect is illustrated through an example of a two DOF damper-isolated system excited by sinusoidal waves and actual ground acceleration input recorded in earthquakes. It is shown that most of the responses of the structure with dampers reduce greatly near the resonant zone, but acceleration is enlarged in the lower or higher frequency zone; among various parameters, the influence of frictional coefficient n is the most significant, that of damping ratio of the dampers , is the second, and that of stiffness coefficient of the dampers k, is the slightest. 展开更多

An aerodynamic force and moment measurement was conducted in JF12 long-testduration detonation-driven shock tunnel of Institute of Mechanics,Chinese Academy of Sciences. The test duration of JF12 is 100–130 ms.The nominal Mach number is 7.0 and the exit diameter of the contoured nozzle is 2.5 m.The total enthalpy is 2.5 MJ/kg which duplicates the hypersonic flight conditions of Mach number 7.0 at 35 km altitude. The test model is the standard aerodynamic force model of 10° half-angle sharp cone. The length of the test model is 1500 mm and the weight is 57 kg.The aerodynamic forces were measured with a six-component strain balance. The angles of attack were set to be à5°,0°,5°,10° and 14°,respectively.The experimental results show that in the 100–130 ms test duration, the signals of strain balance have 3–4 complete vibration cycles. So,the aerodynamic forces and moments can be obtained directly by averaging the signals of balance without acceleration compensation. The force measurement error of repeatability of JF12 is less than 2%.The aerodynamic force coefficients of JF12 are in good agreement with those of conventional hypersonic wind tunnels. For this test model at Mach number 7.0 and total enthalpy of 2.5 MJ/kg,the real-gas effects on aerodynamic force characteristics are not very evident. 展开更多

Considering the ... Supernova (SN) neutrinos detected on the Earth are subject to the shock wave effects, the Mikheyev- Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) effects, the neutrino collective effects and the Earth matter effects. Considering the recent experimental result about the large mixing angle 013 (-8.8°) provided by the Daya Bay Collaboration and applying the available knowledge for the neutrino conversion probability in the high resonance region of SN, PH , which is in the form of hypergeometric function in the case of large 813, we deduce the expression of PH taking into account the shock wave effects. It is found that PH is not zero in a certain range of time due to the shock wave effects. After considering all the four physical effects and scanning relevant parameters, we calculate the event numbers of SN neutrinos for the "Garehing" distribution of neutrino energy spectrum. From the numerical results, it is found that the behaviors of neutrino event numbers detected on the Earth depend on the neutrino mass hierarchy and neutrino spectrum parameters including the dimensionless pinching parameter βa (where a refers to neutrino flavor), the average energy 〈Ea〉, and the SN neutrino luminosities La. Finally, we give the ranges of SN neutrino event numbers that will be detected at the Daya Bay experiment. 展开更多

It is known that in supernova explosions, there might be a reverse shock wave in addition to the forward shock wave during the explosion phase, when the mass of supernova is in a certain range. In this paper, we propose to add the reverse shock wave to the previous supernova model, in which only the forward shock wave was included, and thus obtain a new model. By analyzing the resonance condition as well as the density jump in the new model and using the Landau-Zener method, an expression for the crossing probability in high density matter (PH) is given. We proceed to study how PH varies with time and with neutrino energy when both the reverse shock wave and the forward shock wave are considered. From comparison with the previous results, where only the effects of the forward shock wave were considered, it is clear that the reverse shock wave brings significant changes to PH. 展开更多

Abstract Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of hypertonic saline (HS) and hypertonic saline with taurine (HST) hemorrhagic shock and hemorrhagic shock with hypernatremia rats. Methods Hypernatremic dehydration and hemorrhagic shock models were produced by Trachtma's and Krausz's methods in Sprague Dawley rats. Hemorrhagic changes of mean arterial blood pressure (MABP), left ventricular end diastolic pressure (LVEDP), ±dp/dtmax and heart rate (HR) were registered on polygraph. Plasma Na +, urea lactate and taurine content were assayed. Results After treatment with HS, the hemodynamic changes of hemorrhagic shock rats were significantly alleviated, and tissue fluid redistributed. When the hemorrhagic shock animals were treated with HS containing taurine (HST), in comparison with HS treatment, the hemodynamic improvement and hemodilution were more obvious. When the hemorrhagic animals complicated with hypernatremia were treated with HS, the symptoms of dehydration and shock further deteriorated, when the hemorrhage with hypernatremia animals were treated with an infusion of HST, the symptoms of dehydration and shock were significantly ameliorated. Conclusion The therapeutic effect of HS with taurine is obviously better than HS alone. So when hemorrhagic shock was complicated with hypernatremia, HS with taurine is recommended in stead of HS alone. 展开更多

Characteristic shock effects in quartz serve as a key indicator of historic impacts at geologic sites.Despite this geologic significance, atomistic details of structural transformations of quartz under high pressure and shock compression remain poorly understood. This ambiguity is evidenced by conflicting experimental observations of both amorphization and transitions to crystalline polymorphs.Utilizing a newly developed machine-learning interatomic potential,we examine the response ofα-quartz to shock compression with a peak pressure of 56 GPa over nanosecond timescales. We observe initial amorphization of quartz before crystallization into a d-NiAs-structured silica phase with disorder on the silicon sublattice, accompanied by the formation of domains with partial order of silicon.Investigating a variety of strain conditions of quartz enables us to identify nonhydrostatic stress and strain states that allow for direct diffusionless transformation to rosiaitestructured silica. 展开更多
