The third-order optical nonlinearities are characterized by the canonical Z-scan technique under femtosecond laser(wavelength: 800 nm, pulse width: 100 fs) excitation. Through controlling the applied femtosecond laser energy, NSA of the GO films can be tuned continuously. The GO film is placed at the focal plane as a unique amplitude filter to improve the resolution of the focused field. A multi-layer system model is proposed to present the generation of a deep sub-wavelength spot associated with the nonlinearity of GO films. Moreover, the parameter conditions to achieve the best resolution(~λ/6) are determined entirely. The demonstrated results here are useful for high density optical recoding and storage, nanolithography, and super-resolution optical imaging.展开更多

The results show that the self-steepening effect can cause the characteristic of the pulse trains to vary with time, which is different from the self-steepening-free case where the generated pulse trains consist of single pulses which are identical in width, intensity, and interval, namely when pulses move a certain distance, they turn into the pulse trains within a certain time range. Moreover, each single pulse may split into several sub-pulses. And as time goes on, the number of the sub-pulses will decrease gradually and the pulse width and the pulse intensity will change too. With the increase of the self-steepening parameter, the distance needed to generate time-dependent pulse trains will shorten. In addition, for a large self-steepening parameter and at the distance where more sub-pulses appear, the corresponding frequency spectra of pulse trains are also wider.展开更多

The expressions of the optical forces concerned with the Kerr effect, which affects the refractive index of the medium, are presented. The distribution of the optical forces in the trapping region is simulated and discussed. The results show that the stability of the tweezers depends on the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index, and the optical tweezers could be broken down with a critical value of the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index of the surrounding medium, or with a critical value of the laser intensity, duration of laser pulse, and radius of beam waist. Moreover, these results give us the explanation the stability of the optical tweezers used for the trapped object as biological molecule embedded in the fluid, which is sensitive with Kerr effect.展开更多

Moreover, these results give us the explanation the stability of the optical tweezers used for the trapped object as biological molecule embedded in the fluid, which is sensitive with Kerr effect.

文摘A series of CdS nanoparticles with different surfaces were prepared by colloidal chemical method and reverse micelle method. Their second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties were experimentally studied in solution by newly developed hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) technique. The results show that 'per particle' first-order hyperpolarizability beta values are sensitive To the synthetic method and the surface chemical modification.

文摘Flat and crystalline materials with exceptional nonlinear optical(NLO) properties are highly desirable for their potential applications in integrated NLO photonic devices.Graphdiyne(GD),a new twodimensional(2 D) carbon allotrope, has recently evoked burgeoning research attention by virtue of its tunable bandgap along with a high carrier mobility and extended π-conjugation compared with most conventional optical materials. Here,we experimentally probe the third-order nonlinear optical response of GD dispersed in several common solvents(alcohols) using a femtosecond Z-scan technique. The measured nonlinear optical refractive index is in the order of ~10^(-8) cm^(2)/W,which is approximately one order of magnitude higher than that of most 2 D materials. In particular,we find that different NLO responses can be observed from GD when dispersed in different solvents, with the strongest NLO response when dispersed in 1-propanol.It is proposed that some intrinsic properties of the solvents, such as the polarity and viscosity, could influence the NLO response of GD materials. Our experimental results confirm the assumptions on the NLO behavior in GD and demonstrate its great potential for future generations of Kerr-effect-based NLO materials and devices.

文摘Ultrafine PbS particles with different sizes have been prepared in perfluorocarboxylated cation-exchanged films. The variation of PbS particle size was clarified by absorption spectra and TEM graphs. Time-resolved optical Kerr effects were measured by femtosecond pump-probe techniques. Optical Kerr effect response time was estimated to be less than 165 fs. A third-order optical nonlinearity of χ(3)10-12 esu for PbS particles was obtained and it was found that it increases with the decrease of particle sizes, showing the influence of quantum confined effect on optical nonlinear behaviour of ultrafine particles.
文摘In the present work, z-scan technique was used to study the nonlinear properties, represented by nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient for Coumarin 450 (C450) doped PMMA as a function of concentration for two different solvents. The results show change of the effect from self-focusing to self-defocusing in closed aperture z-can (or change of the effect from two photon absorption to saturable absorption in open aperture z-scan), when the sample dissolved in low viscosity and more polar

文摘Conventional methods for near-field characterization have typically relied on the nanoprobe to point-scan the field, rendering the measurements vulnerable to external environmental influences. Here,we study the direct far-field imaging of the near-field polarizations based on the four-wave mixing effect. We construct a simulation model to realize the instantaneous extraction of the near-field distributions of a wide range of structured light fields, such as cylindrical vector vortex beams, plasmonic Weber beams, and topological spin textures, including photonic skyrmions and merons. This method is valuable for the studies on manipulation of structured light fields and light-matter interaction at the micro/nano scales.
