This work studies the stabilization of a class of control systems that use communication networks as signal transmission medium. The lateral motion of independently actuated four-wheel vehicle is modeled as an uncertain-linear system. Time delay and quantization density are modeled as Markov chains. The networked control systems(NCSs) with plants being lateral motion are first transformed to switched linear systems with uncertain parameters. Sufficient and necessary conditions for the stochastic stability of closed-loop networked control systems are then established. By solving the matrix inequalities, this work presents an output-feedback controller that depends on the modes of time delay and quantization density. The controller performance is illustrated via a vehicular lateral motion system. 展开更多

Passive filtering of neural networks with time-invariant delay and quantized output is considered.A criterion on the passivity of a filtering error system is proposed by means of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and the Bessel-Legendre inequality.Based on the criterion,a design approach for desired passive filters is developed in terms of the feasible solution of a set of linear matrix inequalities. Then, analyses and syntheses are extended to the time-variant delay situation using the reciprocally convex combination inequality. Finally,a numerical example with simulations is used to illustrate the applicability and reduced conservatism of the present passive filter design approaches. 展开更多

It is generally known that the solutions of deterministic and stochastic differential equations (SDEs) usually grow linearly at such a rate that they may become unbounded after a small lapse of time and may eventually blow up or explode in finite time. If the drift and diffusion functions are globally Lipschitz, linear growth may still be experienced, as well as a possible blow-up of solutions in finite time. In this paper, a nonlinear scalar delay differential equation with a constant time lag is perturbed by a multiplicative Ito-type time - space white noise to form a stochastic Fokker-Planck delay differential equation. It is established that no explosion is possible in the presence of any intrinsically slow time - space white noise of Ito - type as manifested in the resulting stochastic Fokker- Planck delay differential equation. Time - space white noise has a role to play since the solution of the classical nonlinear equation without it still exhibits explosion. 展开更多

In the first part, modeling of the different types of imperfections that affect NCS is discussed. These imperfections are quantization errors, packet dropouts, variable sampling/transmission intervals, vari- able transmission delays, and communication constraints. Then follows in the second part a presentation of several theories that have been applied for controlling networked systems. These theories include: input delay system approach, Markovian system approach, switched system approach, stochastic system approach, impulsive system approach, and predictive control approach. In the last part, some advanced issues in NCS including decentral- ized and distributed NCS, cloud control system, and co-design of NCS are reviewed. Index Terms--Decentralized networked control systems (NCS), distributed networked control systems, network constraints, net- worked control system, quantization, time delays. 展开更多
