Evaluation of a Pulse Width Modulated Bypass Nozzle for the Development of a Variable Load Residential Oil Burner

Due to the need for energy conservation in buildings and the simultaneous benefit of cost savings, the development of a low firing rate load modulating residential oil burner is very desirable. One of the two main requirements of such a burner is the development of a burner nozzle that is able to maintain the particle size distribution of the fuel spray in the desirable (small) size range for efficient and stable combustion. The other being the ability to vary the air flow rate and air distribution around the fuel nozzle in the burner for optimal combustion at the current fuel firing rate. In this paper, which deals with the first requirement, we show that by using pulse width modulation in the bypass channel of a commercial off-the-shelf bypass nozzle, this objective can be met. Here we present results of spray patterns and particle size distribution for a range of fuel firing rates. The results show that a desirable fuel spray pattern can be maintained over a fuel firing rate turndown ratio (Maximum Fuel Flow Rate/Minimum Fuel Flow Rate) of 3.7. Thus here we successfully demonstrate the ability to electronically vary the fuel firing rate by more than a factor of 3 while simultaneously maintaining good atomization. 展开更多

直流侧中点电位电压偏移是多电平中性点钳位型变流器的主要缺点。以单相三电平NPC整流器为研究对象,以实现直流侧中点电位无漂移为控制目标,以传统的单相三电平单极性载波脉宽调制方法为基础,首先提出一种基于零序电压分量注入的载... 直流侧中点电位电压偏移是多电平中性点钳位型变流器的主要缺点。以单相三电平NPC整流器为研究对象,以实现直流侧中点电位无漂移为控制目标,以传统的单相三电平单极性载波脉宽调制方法为基础,首先提出一种基于零序电压分量注入的载波脉宽调制算法;然后在此基础上给出基于零序电压分量极限值注入的载波脉宽调制算法;并给出这2种方法的零序电压分量的设计方案;最后,对这2种方法进行了详细的理论分析、计算机仿真和1kW样机实验对比验证。研究结果表明:所提出的2种算法都能有效实现直流侧中点电位平衡控制,其中基于零序电压分量极限值注入的载波调制算法的中点电位控制具有更快动态响应速度,且其网侧电流的高次谐波主要分布在开关频率附近;而基于零序电压分量注入的载波调制算法的网侧电流高次谐波主要分布在2倍开关频率附近。但是在一个调制信号周期内,基于零序电压分量极限值注入的载波调制算法的开关切换次数比基于零序电压分量注入的载波调制算法低25%左右。 展开更多

为了提高整流器输出直流电压的抗干扰能力,以及降低交流输入侧电流的谐波含量,对其采用电流内环重复控制(Repeat Control,RC)+PI(Proportional Integral,PI)的复合控制及电压外环线性自抗扰控制(Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Co... 为了提高整流器输出直流电压的抗干扰能力,以及降低交流输入侧电流的谐波含量,对其采用电流内环重复控制(Repeat Control,RC)+PI(Proportional Integral,PI)的复合控制及电压外环线性自抗扰控制(Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control,LADRC)的控制方法。首先建立单相PWM整流器的数学模型,并在此基础上设计了LADRC电压外环和复合控制电流内环的控制方案。对其仿真和实验结果与PI双闭环控制结果进行对比,结果表明:LADRC电压外环控制可以有效提高直流侧电压的稳定性和响应速度以及受到扰动时的调节能力,与此同时复合控制电流内环不仅降低了交流侧电流的谐波含量,对周期性扰动的抑制作用也得到增强,同时其动态性能也得到提高。 展开更多

本文提出一种基于两机并联三电平逆变器等效五电平输出的优化调制策略。通过设计并联三电平逆变器的五电平空间矢量调制(SVPWM)控制,实现五电平电压波形的合成。针对传统三电平空间矢量调制存在的计算复杂性和波形质量不高的问题,提出... 本文提出一种基于两机并联三电平逆变器等效五电平输出的优化调制策略。通过设计并联三电平逆变器的五电平空间矢量调制(SVPWM)控制,实现五电平电压波形的合成。针对传统三电平空间矢量调制存在的计算复杂性和波形质量不高的问题,提出将五电平矢量等效为两电平空间矢量来合成参考电压矢量,通过对两电平电压矢量及其作用时间进行线性变换,即可计算出等效五电平逆变器中相关电压矢量和相应矢量的作用时间。该方法避免了传统方案中复杂的数学运算,很大程度上减少了计算量,提高了空间矢量调制算法的效率。该方法在无需额外硬件条件下,实现了比传统三电平逆变器更优化的谐波抑制性能,为并联三电平逆变器提供了兼具计算效率与波形质量的新型调制方案。通过仿真和实验验证了该新型算法的可行性和优越性。 展开更多

Vector control schemes have recently been used to drive linear induction motors(LIM)in high-performance applications.This trend promotes the development of precise and efficient control schemes for individual motors.This research aims to present a novel framework for speed and thrust force control of LIM using space vector pulse width modulation(SVPWM)inverters.The framework under consideration is developed in four stages.To begin,MATLAB Simulink was used to develop a detailed mathematical and electromechanical dynamicmodel.The research presents a modified SVPWM inverter control scheme.By tuning the proportional-integral(PI)controller with a transfer function,optimized values for the PI controller are derived.All the subsystems mentioned above are integrated to create a robust simulation of the LIM’s precise speed and thrust force control scheme.The reference speed values were chosen to evaluate the performance of the respective system,and the developed system’s response was verified using various data sets.For the low-speed range,a reference value of 10m/s is used,while a reference value of 100 m/s is used for the high-speed range.The speed output response indicates that themotor reached reference speed in amatter of seconds,as the delay time is between 8 and 10 s.The maximum amplitude of thrust achieved is less than 400N,demonstrating the controller’s capability to control a high-speed LIM with minimal thrust ripple.Due to the controlled speed range,the developed system is highly recommended for low-speed and high-speed and heavy-duty traction applications. 展开更多

针对传统植保喷雾机作业速度改变时喷施农药不均匀、智能化程度低的问题,为减少农药资源浪费,设计一种基于PWM控制的变量喷雾系统。系统采用单片机作为核心控制器,通过速度传感器反馈的信息自动调整电磁阀的PWM占空比,从而精确控制喷雾... 针对传统植保喷雾机作业速度改变时喷施农药不均匀、智能化程度低的问题,为减少农药资源浪费,设计一种基于PWM控制的变量喷雾系统。系统采用单片机作为核心控制器,通过速度传感器反馈的信息自动调整电磁阀的PWM占空比,从而精确控制喷雾量。系统包括药箱、药液泵、控制器、电磁阀、速度传感器以及用于显示和设置参数的触摸屏。试验结果显示,在药液管路压力为0.2 MPa、0.4 MPa、0.6 MPa,喷雾电磁阀频率为6 Hz、8 Hz、10 Hz时,进行流量测定并对流量结果拟合,得到6 Hz流量拟合决定系数最佳,分别为0.96503、0.98565、0.98563。此外,在台架测试中,当行驶速度在3~5 km/h变化时,喷雾流量的变化较小,喷雾效果均匀,满足农业作业的实际需求。 展开更多

By deriving the discrete-time models of a digitally controlled H-bridge inverter system modulated by bipolar sinu- soidal pulse width modulation (BSPWM) and unipolar double-frequency sinusoidal pulse width modulation (UDFSPWM) respectively, the performances of the two modulation strategies are analyzed in detail. The circuit parameters, used in this paper, are fixed. When the systems, modulated by BSPWM and UDFSPWM, have the same switching frequency, the stabil- ity boundaries of the two systems are the same. However, when the equivalent switching frequencies of the two systems are the same, the BSPWM modulated system is more stable than the UDFSPWM modulated system. In addition, a convenient method of establishing the discrete-time model of piecewise smooth system is presented. Finally, the analytical results are confirmed by circuit simulations and experimental measurements. 展开更多

The control techniques have been utilized the Fuzzy Logic Rules Base method for proposed SIMULINK model of high performance power electronic circuit. The analytical calculations for real circuit design have been completed based on the mathematical modeling of the system. The results from the developed SIMULINK model confirm the target specifications of the high performance condition for power electronic circuit which was met the objective of this study. 两电平四桥臂拓扑是常见的三相四线AC/DC变换器拓扑,应用于配电台区等各类三相四线系统中,并可搭配LCL并网滤波器,兼顾并网或离网模式,提高电能质量。在背靠背台区互联等应用场景下,系统对于共模电压或共模电流的幅值具有限制,在调制算... 两电平四桥臂拓扑是常见的三相四线AC/DC变换器拓扑,应用于配电台区等各类三相四线系统中,并可搭配LCL并网滤波器,兼顾并网或离网模式,提高电能质量。在背靠背台区互联等应用场景下,系统对于共模电压或共模电流的幅值具有限制,在调制算法中采用共模电压抑制脉宽调制(pulse width modulation,PWM)成为一种典型的主动式共模抑制措施。然而,在LCL参数设计过程中,共模电压抑制PWM的谐波特性明显不同于普通PWM,三相四线系统还需要兼顾差模和共模特性,导致常规的三相三线LCL参数设计方法不再适用。因此,提出一种适用于共模电压抑制PWM的两电平四桥臂变换器并网LCL滤波器参数设计方法。该方法利用双傅里叶分解求解特定PWM信号及电压的频域分布,并分离出共模激励和差模激励;而后,结合采用有源阻尼控制时的共模、差模等效电路的传递函数,求解并网电流等关键电路物理量的频域特性,从而解决传统LCL参数设计方法不适用的问题;然后,根据经典设计方法和实际应用需求,给出一套可行的约束条件,建立数学优化问题模型,并利用数值方法求解可行域,完成LCL参数设计;最后,通过实验验证参数设计的有效性。所提设计方法计算速度快,计算过程中不依赖人工选择,高效简便,具有应用价值。 展开更多

Improved Protein Transfer Efficiency and Signal Intensity in BlotMan Using Pulse Width Modulation

BlotMan is a protein blotting device that allows generating multiple membranes from a single polyacrylamide gel. To transfer all proteins uniformly with the same efficiency regardless of protein size, BlotMan employs pulse-width-modulated (PWM) voltage that applies a higher average voltage to a larger protein species. BlotMan can be controlled not only by its custom-made interface but also by a smart phone via Bluetooth technology. In this study, we examined effects of PWM signals (50%, 60%, and 80% duty cycle) on transfer efficiency and signal intensity in comparison to a constant voltage signal (100% duty cycle). The result revealed that in response to the same average voltage of 150 V, a lower duty cycle with a higher maximum voltage increased transfer efficiency as well as sharpness of transferred proteins. We validated BlotMan’s capability using a chondrosarcoma cell line (SW1353 cells) and a breast cancer cell line (MDA-MB231 cells) in response to antitumor chemical agents. BlotMan successfully generated 5 membranes from a single gel and detected 5 protein species such as c-Src, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha (eIF2), phosphorylated eIF2, lamin B, and actin. Collectively, we demonstrated herein that BlotMan reduces an amount of protein samples by generating multiple membranes from a single gel and improving signal intensity with PWM voltage signals. 展开更多

针对由T型桥臂和半桥桥臂组合而成的单相五电平混合桥逆变器拓扑结构,将常用于三相系统中的空间矢量脉宽调制(Space vector pulse width modulation,SVPWM)应用于此拓扑中,搭建此拓扑的SVPWM控制模型,与正弦脉宽调制(Sinusoidal pulse w... 针对由T型桥臂和半桥桥臂组合而成的单相五电平混合桥逆变器拓扑结构,将常用于三相系统中的空间矢量脉宽调制(Space vector pulse width modulation,SVPWM)应用于此拓扑中,搭建此拓扑的SVPWM控制模型,与正弦脉宽调制(Sinusoidal pulse width modulation,SPWM)相比,所提方法能使输出电能具有更低的谐波含量,且更易于数字控制。首先,对该拓扑结构的不同开关状态及其SPWM调制策略进行分析;其次,根据不同的开关状态对空间矢量进行扇区划分,并采用最小开关损耗原则选择适当的开关矢量,建立SVPWM控制模型;最后,使用Matlab/Simulink对该拓扑分别采用SPWM调制与SVPWM调制进行仿真比较,并搭建试验平台验证该逆变器拓扑。研究表明,此拓扑采用所提SVPWM控制模型时,相比于SPWM调制具有更低的电流谐波。 展开更多

The four-level nested neutral-point-clamped(4L-NNPC)inverter is a competitive topology among the various medium-voltage multilevel converters,and its main issue is flying-capacitor voltage unbalance.In this article,a novel carrier-interleaved pulse width modulation(CIPWM)method that satisfies the volt-sec balance principle is proposed with an advanced carrier distribution rule.By adopting the proposed CIPWM method,the redundant switching states of 4L-NNPC inverters can be evenly distributed into the output PWM waveform in each carrier period,and natural flying-capacitor voltage balance can be achieved.Furthermore,an active balancing strategy is also proposed to eliminate the voltage unbalance caused by nonideal factors,which is realized by simply adjusting the duty cycle and with no need to adjust the redundant switching states for 4L-NNPC inverters.The simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed CIPWM method and the flying-capacitor voltage balancing strategy. 展开更多
