The cherries coffee were separated and standardized in the processes of washing, mechanical and manual separation. Then, approx. 85 kg of coffee cherries were pulped and taken directly to the yard. The washed coffee was completed dried in a mechanical dryer and yard. The results showed that the different conditions of the ambient air significantly influenced the processes of drying. The water content of the hygroscopic equilibrium of pulped coffee is directly proportional to the water activity and relative humidity (RH), decreasing with increasing temperature, for the same value of equilibrium. The Oswin model was best represented by the hygroscopicity of the pulped coffee, while the Midilli model shows the best fit to describe the drying curves of the washed coffee. The effective diffusion coefficient increases with increasing temperature of the drying air and reducing of RH, being described by the Arrhenius equation. Electrical conductivity, potassium leaching, total titratable acidity and grease acidity increase with increasing drying temperature regardless of the type of processing. Reducing sugars, total sugars and the sensorial quality was negatively affected with increasing drying temperature regardless of the type of processing. The drying at 60 °C/40% RH negatively affected the coffee quality.展开更多

Incr...Changes in total polyphenols, O-diphenols and anthocyanin concentrations during fermentation and drying of pulp pre-conditioned cocoa (Theobroma cacao) beans were investigated using standard analytical methods. Increasing pod storage, fermentation and drying led to variable reductions in total polyphenols, O-diphenols and anthocyanins content of the beans. The rates of reduction were however more pronounced during fermentation than pod storage and drying. Storage of cocoa pods between 3-7 days with 6 and 7 days of fermentation and drying respectively retained 85%-90% of the total polyphenol and O-diphenols of the cocoa beans. Similarly, anthocyanin content of beans from the 10 days of pod storage decreased by 70% in the sixth day of fermentation. Pod storage decreased the anthocyanin content at all periods of fermentation. These suggest that the post-harvest treatments of pod storage, fermentation and drying all results in variable reductions in polyphenolic content (total polyphenols and O-diphenols) and anthocyanins content of cocoa beans.展开更多

The study also used a 4 x 3 full factorial design with pod storage (0, 3, 7 and 10 d) and drying time (0, 3 and 7 d) being the principal factors investigated to study the changes occurring during the drying process. FI and cut test of the beans were studied during fermentation as well as the drying process. FI of the beans increased significantly with pod storage and fermentation but decreased slightly during drying. FI of the unfermented beans increased slightly from 0.674 for the unstored pods to 0.763 after 10 days of pod storage. The FI of the fermented beans (six days fermentation) also increased from 1.390 for the unstored pods to 1.424 for pods stored for 10 days. It decreased from 1.389 at the start of drying for the unstored pods to 1.105 for pods stored for 10 days at the end of drying (seven days). FI of all the beans were however, above 1.0 at the end of fermentation and drying for all pod storage treatments. Cut test revealed that storage of pods for 3, 7 and 10 days increased the percentage of brown beans by 66%, 94% and 72%, respectively, by the sixth day of fermentation. Percentage of brown beans decreased to 61%, 76% and 63%, respectively, for pods stored for 3, 7 and 10 d at the end of drying (seven days). Cocoa pods can be stored for up to 10 days, fermented for six days and dried for seven days with the necessary formation of brown pigments characteristics of well fermented and dried cocoa beans.展开更多

The objective of this work is to transform pequi pulp into powder, aiming at maintaining the flavor. By using the convection drying technique, the product is converted from the fluid state to the solid state in the form of a powder. Experiments were performed with drying at the following temperatures: 40°C, 50°C, 60°C, 90°C and 105°C. Interpretations were made of the experimental drying and milling results. It was verified that for all the experimental temperatures, there was no loss of the sensory characteristics of pequi. The drying of the pequi pulp in a greenhouse at 105°C consisted of a good result of preservation of the characteristics of the fruit: color, aroma and flavor. Using the Trojan Powder Coating scale, it is found that pequi powder, dried at 105°C, differs little in terms of the color of the fruit in nature.展开更多

文摘Hemicellulose has a wide range of applications, including that as an emulsifier for the food industry and raw material for the synthesis of bioethanol/biochemicals and biodegradable films.Hemicellulose is usually present as a spent liquor, such as the prehydrolysis liquor of the prehydrolysis kraft dissolving pulp production process and the alkali extraction liquor of the cold caustic extraction of pulp fibers.Due to its dilute nature, hemicellulose needs to be dried for practical utilization, and this is challenging. In this study, cellulose and hemicellulose in a bleached bamboo kraft pulp were separated using an alkali extraction process.Hemicellulose obtained from the extraction liquor was dried by an ammonium carbonate-assisted drying process. The effects of drying time and drying temperature were determined.Structure of the hemicellulose obtained by the ammonium carbonate-assisted drying process was similar to that of original hemicellulose,as revealed by detailed Fourier transform infrared and X-ray diffraction analyses. The novel drying method was more energy efficient and required a shorter drying time than the conventional freeze drying method, and the excellent solubility in alkaline solutions favored the chemical modification of hemicellulose. The dried hemicellulose can be used as a renewable raw material for the preparation of hydrogels and other substances such as bioethanol/biochemicals and biodegradable films.
文摘The aim of the study was to describe the drying kinetics of washed coffee (Coffea arabica L.) and evaluate the best mathematical model to fit the experimental drying data conducted with different air humidity (40%, 50% and 60%), temperatures (23, 40 and 60 °C) and the quality of the coffee. The drying at 60 °C/40% RH negatively affected the coffee quality.
文摘Changes in total polyphenols, O-diphenols and anthocyanin concentrations during fermentation and drying of pulp pre-conditioned cocoa (Theobroma cacao) beans were investigated using standard analytical methods. These suggest that the post-harvest treatments of pod storage, fermentation and drying all results in variable reductions in polyphenolic content (total polyphenols and O-diphenols) and anthocyanins content of cocoa beans.
文摘Investigations were conducted to establish effects of fermentation and drying on the fermentation index (FI) and cut test of pulp pre-conditioned Ghanaian cocoa beans using a 4 x 3 full factorial experimental design with the principal factors being pod storage (0, 3, 7 and 10 d) and fermentation time (0, 3 and 6 d) to study the changes occurring during the fermentation process. Cocoa pods can be stored for up to 10 days, fermented for six days and dried for seven days with the necessary formation of brown pigments characteristics of well fermented and dried cocoa beans.

文摘Pulpotomy, which belongs to vital pulp therapy, has become a strategy for managing pulpitis in recent decades. This minimally invasive treatment reflects the recognition of preserving healthy dental pulp and optimizing long-term patient-centered outcomes.Pulpotomy is categorized into partial pulpotomy(PP),the removal of a partial segment of the coronal pulp tissue, and full pulpotomy(FP),the removal of whole coronal pulp, which is followed by applying the biomaterials onto the remaining pulp tissue and ultimately restoring the tooth.Procedural decisions for the amount of pulp tissue removal or retention depend on the diagnostic of pulp vitality, the overall treatment plan, the patient’s general health status, and pulp inflammation reassessment during operation. This statement represents the consensus of an expert committee convened by the Society of Cariology and Endodontics,Chinese Stomatological Association. It addresses the current evidence to support the application of pulpotomy as a potential alternative to root canal treatment(RCT)on mature permanent teeth with pulpitis from a biological basis, the development of capping biomaterial, and the diagnostic considerations to evidence-based medicine. This expert statement intends to provide a clinical protocol of pulpotomy, which facilitates practitioners in choosing the optimal procedure and increasing their confidence in this rapidly evolving field.

文摘The effects of two different drying methods, namely hot-air drying and freeze drying,on the phenolic profiles, antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities of pulp extracts from two main Chinese bayberry cultivars(’Biqi’or’BQ’and’Dongkui’or’DK’)were evaluated. The results showed that’BQ’bayberry provided higher total phenolic(TPC),total flavonoid(TFC)and total anthocyanin(TAC)contents than’DK’bayberry after the same drying method, while its antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities were highly affected by drying method.Freeze-dried samples possessed significantly higher TPC,TFC and TAC,and exhibited more potent antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities than hot-air dried ones(P<0.05).Freeze-dried’DK’bayberry exhibited similar antioxidant activities and a-amylase inhibitory activity, but higher a-glucosidase inhibition than freeze-dried’BQ’bayberry(P<0.05).Compared with hot-air dried samples,freeze-dried samples had significantly higher contents of cyanidin-3-O-glucoside,myricitin-3-O-rhamnoside,quercetin-3-O-galactoside,quercetin-3-O-glucoside and quercetin-3-O-rhamnoside,which had been proved to be the main contributors to the in vitro hypoglycemic activities of bayberry pulp extract. All these results demonstrate that freeze drying is more suitable for the preservation of phenolic components in the pulp extract of Chinese bayberry, and the pulp extract of freeze-dried’DK’could be applied as a potential hypoglycemic food additive.
文摘The pequi tree is a native plant of the Brazilian cerrado, and the scientific name is Caryocar brasiliense, whose fruits are called pequi, appreciated for its pleasant peculiarities of color, aroma and flavor. Using the Trojan Powder Coating scale, it is found that pequi powder, dried at 105°C, differs little in terms of the color of the fruit in nature.

文摘The functional regeneration of the dentin-pulp complex is pivotal for tooth preservation, yet the molecular mechanisms governing odontoblast differentiation remain poorly understood. In the current study,we revealed a distinct NKD1^(+) subpopulation exhibiting secretory odontoblast characteristics, which was specifically induced in dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs) by Wnt3a,but not by Wnt5a or Wnt10a through single-cell transcriptomic profiling. We then found that the NKD1^(+) subpopulation was functional conservation, which were consistently identified in the odontoblast layers of developing tooth germs in both murine and miniature pig models,as well as within the apical open area in human molars. This conserved spatial distribution and co-localization with DSPP strongly indicates that NKD1^(+) cells were active dentin-secreting odontoblasts.Analysis of gene regulatory networks using SCENIC identified MSX1 as a key transcription factor regulating the specification of NKD1^(+) lineage.Mechanistically,Wnt3a orchestrates a tripartite cascade:upregulating NKD1/MSX1 expression, triggering NKD1 membrane detachment, and facilitating direct NKD1-MSX1interaction to promote MSX1 nuclear translocation.CUT&Tag analysis demonstrated MSX1 occupancy at promoters of odontogenic regulato rs,esta blishing its necessity for odontogenic gene activation.Murine pulp exposure models validated that Wnt3a-activated NKD1-MSX1 signaling significantly enhances reparative dentin formation. This study delineates an evolutionarily conserved Wnt3aNKD1-MSX1 axis that resolves stem cell heterogeneity into functional odontoblast commitment, providing both mechanistic insights into dentin-pulp regeneration and a foundation for targeted regenerative therapies.
文摘The study on the modelling of the drying kinetics of two extreme parts of the Gamboma yam pulp, the yellow part (head) and the white part (tail), was carried out to evaluate the behaviour of these two parts during drying. This evaluation was carried out in the oven at 70?C and in the microwave at 280 W. The main aim of this work was to study experimentally while modelling the drying kinetics of the food and at the same time to evaluate the influence of temperature on two parts (head and tail) of the Gamboma yam. The effect <span>of temperature on the food revealed the following results: a progressive decrease</span> of the water content during the drying process in both the oven and the microwave. 文摘This study explores the thin-layer convective solar drying of Marrubium vulgare L.leaves under conditions typical of sun-rich semi-arid climates.Drying experiments were conducted at three inlet-air temperatures(40℃,50℃,60℃)and two air velocities(1.5 and 2.5 m·s^(-1))using an indirect solar dryer with auxiliary temperature control.Moisture-ratio data were fitted with eight widely used thin-layer models and evaluated using correlation coefficient(r),root-mean-square error(RMSE),and Akaike information criterion(AIC).A complementary heattransfer analysis based on Reynolds and Prandtl numbers with appropriate Nusselt correlations was used to relate flow regime to drying performance, and an energy balance quantified the relative contributions of solar and auxiliary heat. The logarithmic model consistently achieved the lowest RMSE/AIC with r>0.99 across all conditions.Higher temperature and air velocity significantly reduced drying time during the decreasing-rate period, with no constantrate stage observed. On average, solar input supplied the large majority of the thermal demand, while the auxiliary heater compensated short irradiance drops to maintain setpoints. These findings provide a reproducible dataset and a modelling benchmark for M.vulgare leaves, and they support energy-aware design of hybrid solar dryers formedicinal plants in sun-rich regions.

文摘Mango(Mangifera indica L.)is one of the main economic crops in Hainan,China, prized for its distinctive flavor and high nutritional value. It is also rich in health-promoting antioxidants such as vitamin C and flavonoids.Enhanced ultraviolet-B(UV—B)radiation,a growing global environmental concern, alters plant antioxidant systems, with increased flavonoid accumulation as a common adaptive response. However, its effects on mango fruit remain largely unexplored. To investigate the antioxidant responses of mango to enhanced UV-B radiation and identify key responsive flavonoid compounds and regulatory genes,we exposed‘Tainong 1’mango fruits growing under natural light to 96 kJ·m^(-2)·d^(-1)of UV-B radiation to simulate high UV-B conditions.Treated fruits were smaller in size and had a pulp of a more intense yellow colour.Further, malondialdehyde content in treated fruits was higher during the phase of rapid fruit enlargement.Additionally, treated fruits showed increased sugar-acid ratios, total phenol, total flavonoid, carotenoid, and ascorbic acid contents.Furthermore, they showed significantly enhanced antioxidant activity,as measured by the FRAP,ABTS,and DPPH assays.Extensive targeted metabolomic-analysis identified flavonoids as the largest category of compounds differentially expressed in treated and control groups.Quantitative metabolomics of flavonoids identified hyperoside,quercimeritrin,and(-)-catechin gallate as the key flavonoid metabolites responsive to UV-B treatment.Transcriptome analysis revealed an enrichment of the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, with most associated differentially expressed genes showing upregulation.Furthermore,qRT-PCR analysis confirmed that the expression of the genes MiCHS7,MiCHI1,MiCHI2,MiFLS,MiF3H2,and MiF3H3 correlated with changes in key flavonoid metabolites.Indeed, correlation analysis indicated that MiCHS7,MiCHI1,MiFLS,and MiF3H3 are potential key genes involved in flavonoid accumulation under UV-B treatment. Thus, our study provides a theoretical basis for breeding for new resilient varieties and developing UV-B-resistant mango cultivation techniques.

文摘Dental pulp-dentin complex defects remain a major unresolved problem in oral medicines.Clinical therapeutic methods including root canal therapy and vital pulp therapy are both considered as conservative strategies, which are incapable of repairing the pulpdentin complex defects.Although biomaterial-based strategies show remarkable progress in antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,and pulp regeneration, the important modulatory effects of nerves within pulp cavity have been greatly overlooked, making it challenging to achieve functional pulp-dentin complex regeneration. In this study,we propose an injectable bioceramicscontaining composite hydrogel in combination of Li-Ca-Si(LCS)bioceramics and gelatin methacrylate matrix with photocrosslinking properties.Due to the sustained release of bioactive Li,Ca and Si ions from LCS,the composite hydrogels possess multiple functions of promoting the neurogenic differentiation of Schwann cells, odontogenic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells, and neurogenesis-odontogenesis couples in vitro. In addition, the in vivo results showed that LCS-containing composite hydrogel can significantly promote the pulp-dentin complex repair.More importantly,LCS bioceramics-containing composite hydrogel can induce the growth of nerve fibers, leading to the re-innervation of pulp tissues.Taken together, the study suggests that LCS bioceramics can induce the innervation of pulp-dentin complex repair, offering a referable strategy of designing multifunctional filling materials for functional periodontal tissue regeneration.

文摘Alternate wetting and drying irrigation(AWD)significantly influences the cooking and eating quality of rice(Oryza sativa L.).However,the mechanisms by which AWD affects rice cooking and eating quality remain unclear.Lipid and free fatty acid contents in grains correlate positively with cooking and eating quality of rice. This study examined Yangdao 6(YD6,a conventional taste indica inbred)and Nanjing 9108(NJ9108,a superior taste japonica inbred)cultivated under conventional irrigation(CI),alternate wetting and moderate drying irrigation(AWMD),and alternate wetting and severe drying irrigation(AWSD)from 10 days after transplanting to maturity. The research investigated the relationship between lipid and free fatty acid biosynthesis in grains and the cooking and eating quality of rice.Compared to CI treatment,AWMD significantly enhanced the contents of lipid, total free fatty acids(TFFAs),free unsaturated fatty acids(FUFAs),linoleic acid, and oleic acid in milled rice by increasing activities of enzymes associated with lipid synthesis, while AWSD produced opposite effects.Correlation analysis revealed that elevated levels of lipid,TFFAs,FUFAs,linoleic acid, and oleic acid contribute to improved rice cooking and eating quality. The findings demonstrate that AWMD enhances cooking and eating quality of milled rice through optimization of lipid and fatty acid synthesis in rice grains.

文摘Pulpitis is a common infective oral disease in clinical situations. The regulatory mechanisms of immune defense in pulpitis are still being investigated.Osteomodulin(OMD)is a small leucine-rich proteoglycan family member distributed in bones and teeth. It is a bioactive protein that promotes osteogenesis and suppresses the apoptosis of human dental pulp stem cells(hDPSCs).In this study, the role of OMD in pulpitis and the OMD-induced regulatory mechanism were investigated. The OMD expression in normal and inflamed human pulp tissues was detected via immunofluorescence staining.Intriguingly, the OMD expression decreased in the inflammatory infiltration area of pulpitis specimens. The cellular experiments demonstrated that recombined human OMD could resist the detrimental effects of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation.A conditional Omd knockout mouse model with pulpal inflammation was established.LPS-induced inflammatory impairment significantly increased in conditional Omd knockout mice, whereas OMD administration exhibited a protective effect against pulpitis.Mechanistically, the transcriptome alterations of OMD overexpression showed significant enrichment in the nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)signaling pathway.Interleukin-1 receptor 1(IL1R1),a vital membrane receptor activating the NF-κB pathway, was significantly downregulated in OMD-overexpressing hDPSCs.Additionally, the interaction between OMD and IL1R1 was verified using co-immunoprecipitation and molecular docking. In vivo, excessive pulpal inflammation in Omd-deficient mice was rescued using an IL1R antagonist.Overall,OMD played a protective role in the inflammatory response via the IL1R1/NF-κB signaling pathway.OMD may optimize the immunomodulatory functions of hDPSCs and can be used for regenerative endodontics.

文摘Bananas are highly perishable after harvest, and processing them into dried products is a crucial approach to reducing losses and adding their economic values. To address the inefficiency and prolonged duration of traditional hot air drying(HAD)and the quality inconsistency associated with single infrared drying(IRD),this study proposed a novel hot air-infrared combined drying(HAD-IRD)strategy.The effects of HAD,IRD,and HAD-IRD on the drying kinetics, color, rehydration capacity, moisture diffusion mechanism, and sensory quality of banana slices were systematically investigated. The parameters of the combined drying process were optimized using an L_(9)(3^(3))orthogonal experimental design. Results indicated that both IRD and HAD-IRD significantly reduced drying time compared to single HAD.While single IRD achieved a rapid drying rate, the lack of effective convective airflow led to potential case-hardening and unstable product quality. In contrast, the HAD-IRD strategy demonstrated a synergistic effect. The optimal parameters were determined as follows:hot air temperature of 70℃,infrared temperature of 60℃,and radiation distance of 16 cm.Under these optimized conditions,HAD-IRD reduced the total drying time by over 70%while simultaneously yielding products with superior color, higher sensory scores, and improved rehydration ratio. This study confirms that HAD-IRD is an efficient and high-quality drying method for banana slices, providing a reliable theoretical foundation and technical solution for the drying of thermosensitive fruits.

文摘Stem cells play a crucial role in maintaining tissue regenerative capacity and homeostasis. However, mechanisms associated with stem cell senescence require further investigation. In this study,we conducted a proteomic analysis of human dental pulp stem cells(HDPSCs)obtained from individuals of various ages. Our findings showed that the expression of NUP62 was decreased in aged HDPSCs.We discovered that NUP62 alleviated senescence-associated phenotypes and enhanced differentiation potential both in vitro and in vivo.Conversely, the knocking down of NUP62 expression aggravated the senescence-associated phenotypes and impaired the proliferation and migration capacity of HDPSCs.Through RNA-sequence and decoding the epigenomic landscapes remodeled induced by NUP62 overexpression,we found that NUP62 helps alleviate senescence in HDPSCs by enhancing the nuclear transport of the transcription factor E2F1.This,in turn, stimulates the transcription of the epigenetic enzyme NSD2.Finally,the overexpression of NUP62 influences the H3K36me2 and H3K36me3 modifications of anti-aging genes(HMGA1,HMGA2,and SIRT6).Our results demonstrated that NUP62 regulates the fate of HDPSCs via NSD2-dependent epigenetic reprogramming.

文摘This study evaluated corn kernel drying performance and quality changes using hot air drying(HAD)and infrared drying(ID)across temperatures ranging from 55℃ to 80℃.Optimal drying parameters were determined by using the entropy weight method, with drying time, specific energy consumption, damage rate, fatty acids, starch, polyphenols, and flavonoids as indicators. Results demonstrated that ID significantly outperformed HAD,achieving drying times up to 20%shorter and reducing specific energy consumption and kernel damage by up to 79.3%and 66.7%,respectively,while also better preserving quality attributes. Both methods exhibited drying profiles characterized by acceleration, constant, and falling rate periods, although the constant rate phase was distinctly observable only at lower temperatures. The effective moisture diffusivity under ID was consistently higher than that under HAD,with a maximum increase of 20.4%.The optimal drying conditions were HAD at 65℃ and ID at 80℃.A BP model was also developed and it showed better predictive performance and adaptability than classical mathematical models.

文摘Long-time fermentation has always been one of the reasons restricting the development of straw biological pulping. This study aimed to develop a novel straw pulp film with shortened solid-state fermentation time with less than 20%mass loss rate by bio-pulping synergistic treatment of straw fibers with deep eutectic solvent(DES)and Streptomyces rochei(S.rochei).Results illustrated that at 3%S.rochei concentration with 7-day fermentation, both cellulose and hemicellulose enzyme activities of the treated rice straw fiber reached peak values with a fiber mass loss rate of 17.01%.Microstructural morphology revealed that S.rochei colonization initiated on straw surfaces and progressively penetrated internal structures, resulting in surface loosening and distinct disruption of cell wall tissues within vascular bundles in transverse sections. The treated rice straw strip indicated a maximum tensile strength of 46.22 MPa for(Bacteria)BA 3%at day 7,attributed to optimized synergistic effects of microfibril angle(MFA)and cellulose/hemicellulose relative content ratio. The modified straw pulp film exhibited significant enhancement in the tensile index(44.9%increase),burst index(10.3%increase),and tear index(60%increase)compared to untreated groups. This work demonstrated the important role ofDES and S.rochei bio-pulping synergistic treatment in improving rice straw pulp performance, suggesting an eco-friendly,novel,and efficient biomass pretreatment technology for potential application prospects in sustainable agricultural mulching materials.

文摘Soil microorganisms and labile soil organic carbon(SOC)fractions are essential factors affecting greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions in paddy fields. However, the effects of labile SOC fractions and microorganisms on GHG emissions from flooding to drying after organic fertilizer replacing for chemical fertilizer remain unclear. Here,a long-term experiment was conducted with four treatments:chemical fertilization only(control),organic fertilizer substituting 25%of chemical N fertilizer(NM1),50%of chemical N fertilizer(NM2),and NM2combined with crop straw(NMS).GHG emissions were monitored, and soil samples were collected to determine labile SOC fractions and microorganisms. Results revealed the GHG emissions in the NM2 significantly increased by 196.88%from flooding to drying, mainly due to the higher CO_(2) emissions. The GHG emissions per kg of C input in NMS was the lowest with the value of 9.17.From flooding to drying, organic fertilizer application significantly increased the readily oxidizable organic carbon(ROC)contents and C lability;the NM2 and NMS dramatically increased the SOC and non-readily oxidizable organic carbon(NROC).The bacterial communities showed significant differences among different treatments in the flooding, while the significant difference was only found between the NMS and other treatments in the drying. From flooding to drying, changing soil moisture conditions causes C fractions and microbial communities to jointly affect carbon emissions, and the NMS promoted carbon sequestration and mitigated GHG emissions. Our findings highlight the importance of the labile SOC fractions and microorganisms linked to GHG emissions in paddy fields.
