In this article,structural probabilistic and non-probabilistic reliability have been evaluated and compared under big data condition.Firstly,the big data is collected via structural monitoring and analysis.Big data is classified into different types according to the regularities of the distribution of data.The different stresses which have been subjected by the structure are used in this paper.Secondly,the structural interval reliability and probabilistic pre-diction models are established by using the stress-strength interference theory under big data of random loads after the stresses and structural strength are comprehensively considered.Structural reliability is computed by using various stress types,and the minimum reliability is determined as structural reliability.Finally,the advan-tage and disadvantage of the interval reliability method and probability reliability method are shown by using three examples.It has been shown that the proposed methods are feasible and effective. 展开更多

The correlation coefficients of random variables of mechanical structures are generally chosen with experience or even ignored,which cannot actually reflect the effects of parameter uncertainties on reliability.To discuss the selection problem of the correlation coefficients from the reliability-based sensitivity point of view,the theory principle of the problem is established based on the results of the reliability sensitivity,and the criterion of correlation among random variables is shown.The values of the correlation coefficients are obtained according to the proposed principle and the reliability sensitivity problem is discussed.Numerical studies have shown the following results:(1) If the sensitivity value of correlation coefficient ρ is less than(at what magnitude 0.000 01),then the correlation could be ignored,which could simplify the procedure without introducing additional error.(2) However,as the difference between ρs,that is the most sensitive to the reliability,and ρR,that is with the smallest reliability,is less than 0.001,ρs is suggested to model the dependency of random variables.This could ensure the robust quality of system without the loss of safety requirement.(3) In the case of |Eabs|ρ0.001 and also |Erel|ρ0.001,ρR should be employed to quantify the correlation among random variables in order to ensure the accuracy of reliability analysis.Application of the proposed approach could provide a practical routine for mechanical design and manufactory to study the reliability and reliability-based sensitivity of basic design variables in mechanical reliability analysis and design. 展开更多

The randomness of loading and the theory of fatigue damage accumulation (TOFDA) are considered. The probabilistic analysis of local stress, local strain and fatigue life are constructed based on the first-order Taylor's series expansions. The reliability plays a significant role in power systems and it is an important objective or constraint in transmission expansion planning.Firstly,a DC optimization model was proposed to calculate the maximum arrival power at each load point.Compared to the network flow method,DC model is closer to the actual power flow and it is able to obtain more realistic reliability assessment results.Furthermore,a novel sensitivity index(SI)was also proposed to choose the most effective line so as to enhance the nodal and/or system reliability.The Monte Carlo simulation is used to simulate the system components state.This improved reliability evaluation method and SI can be used for transmission expansion planning or maintenance scheduling.Tests are performed using 6-bus system derived from the Garver’s system and the IEEE 10-machine 39-bus system.The results show the effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

The evaluation of reliability for structural system is important in engineering practices.In this paper,by combining the design point method,JC method,interval analysis theory,and increment load method,we propose a new interval design point method for the reliability of structural systems in which the distribution parameters of random variables are described as interval variables.The proposed method may provide exact probabilistic interval reliability of structures whose random variables can have either a normal or abnormal distribution form.At last,we show the feasibility of the proposed approach through a typical example. 展开更多
