Using collection film technique combined with Auger electron spectroscopy is analysis, the preferential sputtering of the ternary alloy Cu76Ni15Sn9 bombarded with 27 keV Ar+ at normal incidence is studied. After bombardment, the target surfaCe is examined with SEM, and the surface composition of different topographical feature areas is measured with electron probe micrthanalyser (EPMA). The experiment results show that Cu atoms are preferentially ejected compared with Ni atoms, and Sn atoms come third within the ejection angle range from 0° to 60°. The results are discussed from the viewpoint of sputtering from a very rough surface. 展开更多

Surface compositions of Fe3Si, FeSi and FeSi2 under 0.1 to 5ke V Ar+ bombaniment have been investigated by using AES method, and the results indicate that the sudece compositions depend strongly on ion enerpy and sample bulk compositions. While in FeSi and FeSi2 only Fe enrichment in the selvage has been observed, in Fe3Si it is Si enriched when the ion enerpy is higher than 31OeV Competition between preferential sputtering and radiation enhanced segmpation is quoted to eoplain this phenomenon. 展开更多

Correlations between surface composition changes and ion bombardment fluences were studied for multicomponent materials by using a dynamic Monte Carlo program,including the preferential sputtering and bombardment-induced Gibbsian segregation (BIGS) processes.For the case of 1 keV KR-^(10)B_(0.02)^(11)B_(0.08) (the most simple multicomponent material system),it is found that the ^(10)B composition enriches at the surface at low fluences but depletes at the surface at high fluences.For the case of 1 keV Ar-Pt_(0.5)Cu_(0.5).it is found that the Cu composition at the topmost surface is always under the bulk composition between zero and high fluences,but the evident composition gradient of Cu(the segregation species) exists in the surface at low fluences.The effects of the preferential sputtering and BIGS processes on above two surface composition profiles are also discussed. 展开更多
