A fairly precise vision of a healthy physical self can serve as motivation for undertaking the means to that end.The same cannot be said with regard to“healthy moral selves”.By definition,democracy is about living w...A fairly precise vision of a healthy physical self can serve as motivation for undertaking the means to that end.The same cannot be said with regard to“healthy moral selves”.By definition,democracy is about living with others and,as we argue,a healthy moral self is one that lives well with others.However,precisely what“living with others”entails is ambiguous,particularly in a capitalist economy that presumes that the greatest happiness results from antagonistic competitiveness.In an attempt to demystify how self-focused individuals may nonetheless thrive in“the space between”,we will examine,with the help of Kant and Foucault,the Enlightenment Project that promoted maximal reasonableness(or what we are referring to as“healthy moral selves”)and then,with the help of Steven Pinker and Alisdair MacIntyre,explore the factors that have led to its seeming relatively recent failure.We will argue,following Iris Murdoch and others,that the best hope for its revitalization,and with it,democracy,lies,on one hand,with the debunking of counterfeit moral selves who use a“moral stance”to deliver what Frankfurt refers to as“bullshit”,and,on the other,with the reinvigoration of our understanding that healthy moral selves require a steady diet of engaging in“objective practical reasoning”with those who think differently,thereby potentially starving our fat relentless egos that are so often the source of divisiveness and,in so doing,become happy by becoming worthy of being happy.In animating the value of this goal,the hope is that the means,i.e.,education for the reinvigoration of practical reason(the forgotten twin of theoretical reason)and genuine deliberative dialogue across difference will become sufficiently attractive that it will energize democratic practice and dialogue to such an extent that democracy,as a form of government,may yet flourish despite the atomizing forces of capitalism.展开更多

Fast and accurate transient stability analysis is crucial to power system operation.With high penetration level of wind power resources,practical dynamic security region(PDSR)with hyper plane expression has outstandin...Fast and accurate transient stability analysis is crucial to power system operation.With high penetration level of wind power resources,practical dynamic security region(PDSR)with hyper plane expression has outstanding advantages in situational awareness and series of optimization problems.The precondition of obtaining accurate PDSR boundary is to locate sufficient points around the boundary(critical points).Therefore,this paper proposes a space division and Wasserstein generative adversarial network with gra-dient penalty(WGAN-GP)based fast generation method of PDSR boundary.First,the typical differential topological characterizations of dynamic security region(DSR)provide strong theoretical foundation that the interior of DSR is hole-free and the boundaries of DSR are tight and knot-free.Then,the space division method is proposed to calculate critical operation area where the PDSR boundary is located,tremen-dously compressing the search space to locate critical points and improving the confidence level of boundary fitting result.Furthermore,the WGAN-GP model is utilized to fast obtain large number of criti-cal points based on learning the data distribution of the small training set aforementioned.Finally,the PDSR boundary with hyperplanes is fitted by the least square method.The case study is tested on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE)39-bus system and the results verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.展开更多

Practical jurisprudence is a completely new proposition in legal education and research.The introduction of the concept of“practical jurisprudence”in the teaching of the Civil Procedure Law of the People’s Republic...Practical jurisprudence is a completely new proposition in legal education and research.The introduction of the concept of“practical jurisprudence”in the teaching of the Civil Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China(the“Civil Procedure Law”)is a major innovation in terms of values and methodology.Practical jurisprudence focuses more on practical issues,Chinese characteristics,and major needs,while strengthening the practical nature of the Civil Procedure Law.China’s traditional education system for juris masters(for non-law graduates)(“non-law JMs”)emphasizes the development of foundational legal theoretical knowledge.However,it has not fully achieved its goal of cultivating interdisciplinary and practical legal professionals.Therefore,the traditional education system for the Civil Procedure Law needs reconstruction and supplementation through the practical jurisprudence teaching system in the following areas:(a)System composition:The focus should be on the eight tertiary subsystems under the two secondary subsystems—“the knowledge teaching system and the practical teaching system”of practical jurisprudence in the Civil Procedure Law,as well as the management of their interrelationships.(b)Credit structure:The proportion of credits for“practical teaching and training”should be increased.(c)Practical ability requirements:Legal professionals should be cultivated according to the standards for juris masters(for law graduates)as stipulated by the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Academic Degrees.(d)Practice evaluation:“Formalization of the evaluations,”“homogeneity of the evaluators,”and“reliance on written formats”should be avoided.展开更多

文摘Practical jurisprudence is a completely new proposition in legal education and research.The introduction of the concept of“practical jurisprudence”in the teaching of the Civil Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China(the“Civil Procedure Law”)is a major innovation in terms of values and methodology.Practical jurisprudence focuses more on practical issues,Chinese characteristics,and major needs,while strengthening the practical nature of the Civil Procedure Law.China’s traditional education system for juris masters(for non-law graduates)(“non-law JMs”)emphasizes the development of foundational legal theoretical knowledge.However,it has not fully achieved its goal of cultivating interdisciplinary and practical legal professionals.Therefore,the traditional education system for the Civil Procedure Law needs reconstruction and supplementation through the practical jurisprudence teaching system in the following areas:(a)System composition:The focus should be on the eight tertiary subsystems under the two secondary subsystems—“the knowledge teaching system and the practical teaching system”of practical jurisprudence in the Civil Procedure Law,as well as the management of their interrelationships.(b)Credit structure:The proportion of credits for“practical teaching and training”should be increased.(c)Practical ability requirements:Legal professionals should be cultivated according to the standards for juris masters(for law graduates)as stipulated by the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Academic Degrees.(d)Practice evaluation:“Formalization of the evaluations,”“homogeneity of the evaluators,”and“reliance on written formats”should be avoided.

文摘Against the backdrop of China’s accelerated comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development,both traditional industries in the market and traditional disciplines in universities are facing transformation and reform to adapt to the changes of The Times.The deep integration of digitalization,intelligence and greenization has made the empowerment of green transformation by digital technology become the main direction.This study explores the impact of the green economy on the engineering cost industry and discipline,reflects on the deficiencies of the practical teaching system of this major,and proposes reform and development countermeasures for discipline construction and talent cultivation from the perspectives of teaching content reconstruction,teaching mode innovation,and crossdisciplinary integration and development.It is planned to establish an integrated and innovative practical teaching system centered on BIM technology and cost management in the full life cycle,thereby providing experience references for the sustainable development of the engineering cost major and the transformation and construction of related disciplines.
文摘The problem of autonomy and conformity has suffered a harsh fate in pedagogy.The virtues of love,respect,honour,truthfulness,etc.play a major role in educational work,but it is mostly silent about the concepts of autonomy and conformity.Politics are afraid of these like the devil is afraid of incense smoke.Practising teachers complain that our entire education system is weaning school principals,teachers and students from independent thinking and striving.The basic educational goal is clear:to develop autonomous young people who are strengthened in their own being and strength,and vice versa:to suppress superficial,unconvincing conformity.An old lesson:conformity can only be realistically fought with non-conformist politics and the cooperation of non-conformist teachers.
文摘The year 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore.Over the past three and a half decades,under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries,our traditional friendship has steadily deepened,bilateral ties have continued to thrive,and practical cooperation has yielded tangible results,achieving leapfrog development both in quality and quantity.Total trade volume between our two countries has grown from just US$2.83 billion at the time of diplomatic establishment to US$111.1 billion in 2024.Beyond trade,we have jointly built a cooperation framework comprising three Government-to-Government projects,one state-level bilateral cooperation project and eight sub-national level cooperation mechanisms。

文摘In an era defined by complex,interconnected challenges like climate change,pandemics,and resource depletion,the traditional siloed approach to science education is proving increasingly insufficient.Interdisciplinary project-based learning represents a promising path forward in science education,fostering integrated and holistic learning experiences that move beyond isolated subject learning.Grounded in philosophical ideas of holism,pragmatism,constructivism,and transcendentalism,this article presents a case project illustrating the practical application of interdisciplinary project-based learning.This project engages students in integrating concepts from biology,chemistry,earth science,engineering,and social studies.Through phased activities-research and planning,data collection,implementation,and presentation-students develop a decent understanding of real-world problems while fostering skills in collaboration,problem-solving,and a sense of civic responsibility.Additionally,strategies are proposed to navigate the challenges associated with implementing interdisciplinary project-based learning,including aligning projects with standards,investing in professional development,leveraging community resources,and building support from stakeholders.
文摘Following the proposal of the“Emerging Engineering Education(EEE)”initiative,the cultivation of interdisciplinary innovative talents has gained increasing prominence.Currently,there exists a significant gap between the practical innovation capabilities of automotive majors in vocational colleges and the evolving demands of the industry.To address deficiencies in interdisciplinary innovative talent development programs,this study proposes an educational framework structured around“One Core,Two Dimensions,Three Levels.”Leveraging a project-driven teaching methodology and utilizing CATIA—the industry-standard 3D design software—as a central tool,we have developed a closed-loop teaching model integrating theory,modeling,simulation,and evaluation.This model underpins a newly designed automotive engineering practicum aimed at nurturing high-quality engineering talents equipped with three critical competencies:solving complex engineering challenges,digital design proficiency,and cross-disciplinary collaborative innovation.The proposed approach demonstrates potential to alleviate the structural disconnect between traditional engineering pedagogy and industry talent requirements.
