A Control Strategy for Smoothing Active Power Fluctuation of Wind Farm with Flywheel Energy Storage System Based on Improved Wind Power Prediction Algorithm

The fluctuation of active power output of wind farm has many negative impacts on large-scale wind power integration into power grid. In this paper, flywheel energy storage system (FESS) was connected to AC side of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) wind farm to realize smooth control of wind power output. Based on improved wind power prediction algorithm and wind speed-power curve modeling, a new smooth control strategy with the FESS was proposed. The requirement of power system dispatch for wind power prediction and flywheel rotor speed limit were taken into consideration during the process. While smoothing the wind power fluctuation, FESS can track short-term planned output of wind farm. It was demonstrated by quantitative analysis of simulation results that the proposed control strategy can smooth the active power fluctuation of wind farm effectively and thereby improve power quality of the power grid. 展开更多

Basically, it is minimizing optimization problem and subjected to many complex objective functions and constraints. Hence, firefly algorithm is used to solve OPF in this paper. The aim of the firefly is to optimize the control variables, namely generated real power, voltage magnitude and tap setting of transformers. Flexible AC Transmission system (FACTS) devices may used in the power system to improve the quality of the power supply and to reduce the cost of the generation. FACTS devices are classified into series, shunt, shunt-series and series-series connected devices. Unified power flow controller (UPFC) is shunt-series type device that posses all capabilities to control real, reactive powers, voltage and reactance of the connected line in the power system. In this paper, we first consider the problem of distributed power control in a Full Duplex (FD) wireless network consisting of multiple pairs of nodes, within which each node needs to communicate with its corresponding node. We aim to find the optimal transmition power for the FD transmitters such that the network-wide capacity is maximized. Based on the high Signal-to-Interference-Plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) approximation and a more general approximation method for logarithm functions, we develop effective distributed power control algorithms with the dual decomposition approach. We also extend the work to the general FD network scenario, which can be decomposed into subproblems of isolated nodes, paths, and cycles. The corresponding power control problem is then be solved with the distributed algorithm. The proposed algorithms are validated with simulation studies. 展开更多

Traditional control methods such asgenerator tripping and load shedding are costly, and also have undesirable impacts on theloadside. In this paper, a new emergency power control strategy is proposed for multi-channel interconnected system by using the overload capacity of non-fault DC lines. First of all, the capacity of emergency power control can be acquired by critical transmission power of a certain tie-line for stability. Secondly, the shortest electric distance can be calculated by Dijkstra algorithm, and then the priority of emergency control of the DC lines can be obtained by the entropy weight method. When the inter-regional transmission power decreases and the effect of single DC line emergency control is poor, the multi-channel cooperative emergency control strategy is proposed to ensure the system stability. Random vibration control is aimed at reproducing the power spectral density (PSD) at specified control points. The classical frequency-spectrum equalization algorithm needs to compute the average of the multiple frequency response functions (FRFs), which lengthens the control loop time in the equalization process. Likewise, the feedback control algorithm has a very slow convergence rate due to the small value of the feedback gain parameter to ensure stability of the system. To overcome these limitations, an adaptive inverse control of random vibrations based on the filtered-X least mean-square (LMS) algorithm is proposed. Furthermore, according to the description and iteration characteristics of random vibration tests in the frequency domain, the frequency domain LMS algorithm is adopted to refine the inverse characteristics of the FRF instead of the traditional time domain LMS algorithm. This inverse characteristic, which is called the impedance function of the system under control, is used to update the drive PSD directly. The test results indicated that in addition to successfully avoiding the instability problem that occurs during the iteration process, the adaptive control strategy minimizes the amount of time needed to obtain a short control loop and achieve equalization. 展开更多

These devices are increasingly used in power systems. This paper presents a systematic procedure for modelling and simulation of a single-machine infinite-bus power system installed with a Static VAR Compensator (SVC). So the impact of the SVC on power system stability can be reasonably evaluated. Genetic algorithm (GA) optimization technique is applied to design robust power system stabilizer and SVC-controllers for single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) and is employed to search for optimal controller parameters. 展开更多

The ALO algorithm mimics the search mechanism of antlions in nature. A time domain based objective function is established to tune the parameters of the PI controller based LFC, which is solved by the proposed ALO algorithm to reach the most convenient solutions. A three-area interconnected power system is investigated as a test system under various loading conditions to confirm the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm. Simulation results are given to show the enhanced performance of the developed ALO algorithm based controllers in comparison with Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Bat Algorithm (BAT) and conventional PI controller. These results represent that the proposed BAT algorithm tuned PI controller offers better performance over other soft computing algorithms in conditions of settling times and several performance indices. 展开更多

The high voltage power supply (HVPS) based on pulse step modulation (PSM) has already been developed for the auxiliary heating system on HL-2A. This power supply consists of many switch power supplies, and its output voltage can be obtained by modulating their delay time and pulse widths. The PSM topology and control principle are presented in this paper. The simple algorithms for the control system are explained clearly. The switch power supply (SPS) module has been built and the test results show it can meet the requirements of the auxiliary heating system. Now, 112 SPS modules and the whole system have already been developed. Its maximum output is about 72 kV/93 A. The protection time is less than 5 t*s. The different outputs of this power supply are used for the electron cyclotron resonant heating (ECRH) system with different duty ratios. The experimental results of the entire system are presented. The results indicate that the whole system can meet the requirements of the auxiliary heating system on HL-2A. 展开更多

This paper presents an proportional integral (PI) based voltage-reactive power control for wind diesel based decentralized hybrid power system with wide range of disturbances to demonstrate the compensation effect on system with intelligent tuning methods such as genetic algorithm (GA), artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The effect of probabilistic load and/or input power pattern is introduced which is incorporated in MATLAB simulink model developed for the study of decentralized hybrid power system. Results show how tuning method becomes important with high percentage of probabilistic pattern in system. Testing of all tuning methods shows that GA, ANN and ANFIS can preserve optimal performances over wide range of disturbances with superiority to GA in terms of settling time using Integral of Square of Errors (ISE) criterion as fitness function. 展开更多

A microgrid is hard to control due to its reduced inertia and increased uncertainties. To overcome the challenges of microgrid control, advanced controllers need to be developed.In this paper, a distributed, two-level, communication-economic control scheme is presented for multiple-bus microgrids with each bus having multiple distributed generators(DGs) connected in parallel. The control objective of the upper level is to calculate the voltage references for one-bus subsystems. The objectives of the lower control level are to make the subsystems' bus voltages track the voltage references and to enhance load current sharing accuracy among the local DGs. Firstly, a distributed consensusbased power sharing algorithm is introduced to determine the power generations of the subsystems. Secondly, a discrete-time droop equation is used to adjust subsystem frequencies for voltage reference calculations. Finally, a Lyapunov-based decentralized control algorithm is designed for bus voltage regulation and proportional load current sharing. Extensive simulation studies with microgrid models of different levels of detail are performed to demonstrate the merits of the proposed control scheme. 展开更多

Power Quality measures the reliable operation between the system and to the connected loads of same system. A poor power quality causes physical damage to the equipment and also results in lower productivity with increase in energy costs. Power disturbances range from micro seconds to hours and the prolonged disturbances in hours would damage the equipments. The power quality decreases due to growth of nonlinear loads in domestic appliances, such as home Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), Induction stove, Television etc. Nowadays Domestic loads are controlled or powered with power electronic devices. The power electronic devices with Direct Current (DC) components generate high frequency signal for DC-Alternating Current (AC) conversion. The conversion introduces multiple frequencies in the AC power supply. The multiple frequencies in AC power supply are called as harmonics. The harmonics in AC supply affects the lifetime of home appliances, consumes more electric current, affects the power factor, transformer efficiency, and other electricity supply systems. Till now, to avoid harmonics, the filters are erected only in industrial loads or in the substations. In this paper a novel method to detect and control harmonics in domestic appliances is proposed. Harmonic control with various filters in the filter bank, based on detection of harmonic voltage let out from the domestic appliances for power saving. To select the appropriate filter to improve power quality, we apply a novel Genetic Algorithm based Linear Regression Method (GLRM) algorithm for optimum Filter Selection. From the results we were able to reduce the total harmonic distortion level to 3.68%.The current consumption of each household appliance is reduced considerably and finally the electricity bill is reduced to 15% and overall system efficiency improves to 85%. 展开更多

The conflict of this requirement and the restrictions on the transmission expansion in the restructured electrical market has motivated the development of methodologies to enhance the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) of the existing transmission grids. The insertion of FACTS devices in electrical systems seems to be a promising strategy to enhance ATC. In this paper, the viability and technical merits of boosting ATC using Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) is being analyzed. The work has been carried out on IEEE 30 bus and IEEE 118 bus systems. Bilateral and multilateral transactions are considered. 混合动力挖掘机包含复杂的液压部件,如发动机、液压马达等,涉及的参数众多,包括发动机功率、转速、转矩,液压泵排量、传动比等。由于参数空间的高维度和相互关联性,传统的混合动力挖掘机液压系统传动控制方法为了保证搜索出全局最优解,... 混合动力挖掘机包含复杂的液压部件,如发动机、液压马达等,涉及的参数众多,包括发动机功率、转速、转矩,液压泵排量、传动比等。由于参数空间的高维度和相互关联性,传统的混合动力挖掘机液压系统传动控制方法为了保证搜索出全局最优解,忽略了耦合关系的影响,使得对其控制存在弊端,因此,提出基于粒子群优化的混合动力挖掘机液压系统控制方法。构建包含发动机与液压储能器的挖掘机混合动力系统,采用牛顿第一定律计算发动机转矩、转速和油门位置的耦合关系。明确挖掘机速度调节动态响应与油液流量等参数,计算挖掘机的动力转动惯量,组建速比控制模型。引入粒子群优化算法求解模型,更新粒子速度与位置,完成寻优任务,输出挖掘机液压系统控制结果。试验结果证实:考虑耦合关系干扰下,所提方法改进了无级传动速比跟踪能力,增强挖掘机整体动力性与操作稳定性,为挖掘机自适应变速发挥关键作用。 展开更多

传统有功功率-频率(P-f)下垂控制应用范围广,但无法自均衡微电网磷酸铁锂电池能量状态(state of energy,SOE)。现有的SOE均衡方案均未解决P-f下垂控制下SOE均衡问题。针对此问题,提出一种基于P-f下垂控制孤岛微电网磷酸铁锂电池SOE均衡... 传统有功功率-频率(P-f)下垂控制应用范围广,但无法自均衡微电网磷酸铁锂电池能量状态(state of energy,SOE)。现有的SOE均衡方案均未解决P-f下垂控制下SOE均衡问题。针对此问题,提出一种基于P-f下垂控制孤岛微电网磷酸铁锂电池SOE均衡方案。研究了下垂控制和SOE之间的内在联系,对传统P-f控制参数进行重新设计,并引进一致性算法得到SOE均衡调节项,使得磷酸铁锂电池逆变器输出的有功功率根据磷酸铁锂电池SOE初始状态进行重复分配,在少通信和确保良好频率质量的前提下实现孤岛微电网磷酸铁锂电池组充放电过程中的SOE均衡。此外,通过分析所提方案的小信号模型,对不同控制参数下系统的稳定性进行了研究。最后,PSCAD仿真结果验证所提方案能够使磷酸铁锂电池在充放电过程中的SOE自均衡,具有良好的可扩展性,对通信中断具有良好的鲁棒性。 展开更多
