Purpose:Through the study of economic, traffic and population data related to road traffic accidents from 2004 to 2016,this paper analyzed the impact of various factors on road traffic casualties in China, and provided theoretical basis and suggestions for the road traffic safety management in China. Methods:Based on three aspects(economy, road, population)with five factors(gross domestic product(GDP),traffic in vestme nt,new vehicle own ership, new road mileage and newly in creased population),this paper collected the re leva nt data of road traffic accidents in 31 provinces and cities in China, from 2004 to 2016.A panel model was established to carry out empirical analysis. Results:All factors have a significant impact on the number of road traffic accident casualties. When other factors remain unchanged, the number of road traffic casualties decreased by an average of 0.19 for every 100 million CNY increased in GDP.For every 100 million CNY increased in traffic investment, the number of road traffic casualties is reduced by an average of 13.93,indicating that economic development can improve road traffic safety to a certain extent. On the contrary, the growth in road mileage, new motor vehicles and population has increased the number of road traffic casualties. For every 10,000 km of new road mileage, the number of traffic accident casualties has increased by 284.04.For every 10,000 newboms, the number of road traffic casualties increased by 7.33;as the number of new motor vehicles increases by 10,000,the number of road traffic casualties increased by an average of 21.77.Conclusion:The increase of GDP and traffic investment can significantly reduce the number of road traffic casualties in China, which shows that economic development is essential to improve road traffic safety. The numbers of new road mileage, newly increased population and the new motor vehicles are positively correlated with the number of traffic accident casualties in traffic accidents, which reflects the existing problems in road design, distribution of road resources, and traffic management in China. Therefore,it is necessary to improve the economic and road related aspects to improve road traffic safety. 展开更多

Objective To investigate association between tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in Chinese Han population. Methods Plasma concentrations of TNF-α were measured in 61 drug-free patients who fulfilled DSM-Ⅳ criteria for OCD and 93 healthy controls.TNF-α concentrations in blood were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Two polymorphisms of TNF-α gene were investigated in the same patients and healthy controls:-308 G/A and-238 G/A.The allelic and genotypic frequencies of these polymorphisms were examined by using DNA sequencing method. Results Plasma levels of TNF-α did not differ between patients and controls (P=0.292).No significant results were observed for any of the alleles at the-308 G/A or-238 G/A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene. Finally a haplotype consisting of genotypes of these two markers was also examined. No association was observed for any haplotype (P=0.108).Conclusion No significant differences were observed between patients and controls in plasma levels of TNF-α.There is no association between the-308 G/A and-238 G/A TNF-α gene polymorphisms and OCD in our Chinese samples. However, the results need to be replicated in larger samples. 展开更多

Objective To study the differences in blood pressure (BP) levels and the main factors raising BP among the population in Guangdong Province. Methods The data analyzed stem from the sampling survey of hypertension in Guangdong Province in 1991, covering 42, 894 subjects over 15 years old. Individual characteristics included age, sex, occupation, education, smoking, alcohol drinking and body mass index (BMI) . Results Systolic and diastolic BP increased with age. The hypertension prevalence rate in male is higher than in female. The age - adjusted prevalence rate in office personnel is the highest (12.9 % ) among all occupations. It was increased with education level and BMI (in people educated at university and over is 13. 1 % ), and higher in smokers and alcohol-drinkers than non-smokers and non -alcohol-drinkers. Conclusions Age, occupation, education, smoking, alcohol drinking and BMI all effect BP. These risk factors should be reduced in the Guangdong population. 展开更多
