This paper focuses on theevolution of subtropical environment at low altitude to frigidenvironment at high altitude of the region since Pliocene and thechanges effected by cold-warm amplitude bf global change. Bycomparative study on the structure-type of the altitudinal belt, adistributional model diagram with close relevance to highlanduplift effect has been generalized. Based on regjonaldifferentiation of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, a number ofstriking geo-ecological phenomena such as moisture corridor, dryvalleys and high cold-arid core area are investigated anddiscussed. 展开更多

With the aim of evaluating the possible impacts of cold plasma on the structure and growth pattern of Capsicum annuum, the current study was carried out. The seeds were exposed to an argon-derived plasma(0.84 W cm^(-2) surface power densities) for 0, 1 or 2 minutes. Plasmatreated seeds were grown in the Murashige and Skoog(MS) medium or MS medium supplemented with BA and IAA. The presence of purple stems was recorded in plasma-treated plants grown in the medium supplemented with hormones. The recorded morphological differences were dependent on the exposure time of plasma treatments and/or the presence of hormones in the culture media. Plasma treatment of 1 minute had an improving effect on the shoot and root lengths as well as total leaf area, whereas plasma treatment of 2 minutes had an adverse effect. In contrast to the 1 minute treatment, plasma treatment of 2 minutes significantly impaired growth and hence reduced the total biomass. Alterations in stem diameter and differences in tissue patterns(especially in the vascular system) occurred, and were mainly dependent on the plasma exposure time and/or the presence of hormones. This is a first report on the effects of cold plasma on plant growth in in vitro conditions. 展开更多

The article gives examples of the application of this principle in quantum mechanics and cosmology. A more detailed proof of the principle of equivalence of the electromagnetic field and the field of strong interaction to a free material particle is given. This principle, formulated in the article “Electrodynamics in Curvilinear Coordinates and the Equation of a Geodesic Line”, revealed the nature of the mass of elementary particles and became the basis for the formulation of the Principle of differentiation into physical and mathematical theories. 展开更多

Understanding vitrification kinetics through fast scanning calorimetry

The phenomenon of vitrification,or glass transition,remains one of the most intriguing unsolved issues in condensed matter physics[1].Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)has long been considered a valuable technique for addressing this question[2].Since its commercialization in the 1960s,DSC has become a widely used tool in materials science for characterizing thermodynamic and kinetics properties[3],phase transitions[4],and enthalpy changes[5]in glasses.Traditional DSC features a time constant of approximately 1 s and scanning rate ranging from 0.1 to 300 K min^(-1).With the emergence of fast scanning calorimetry(FSC),this tool has evolved from a basic characterization method to an advanced and versatile technique for various aspects of glassy materials.The first generation of commercial FSC,utilizing a twin-chip sensor designed for the Mettler Toledo Flash 1 DSC[6,7],achieved a signal time constant below 1 ms,enabling high heating rate(qh)up to 40000 K s^(-1) and cooling rate(qc)of 10000 K s^(-1) within a temperature range of 173 to 793 K.The second generation,FDSC 2+,further increased these rates to 60000 K s^(-1) for heating and 40000 K s^(-1) for cooling,expanding the maximum temperature to 1273 K and facilitating the in-situ melting of various alloys[8]. 展开更多

Background The result would be disastrous if the superior pulmonary sulcus tumor (Pancoast tumor) was misdiagnosed as degenerative cervical spine diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the differential diagnosis methods of cervical radiculopathy and superior pulmonary sulcus tumor. Methods Clinical manifestations, physical, and radiological findings of 10 patients, whose main complaints were radiating shoulder and arm pain and later were diagnosed with superior pulmonary sulcus tumor, were reviewed and compared with those of cervical radiculopathy. Results Superior pulmonary sulcus tumor patients have shorter mean history and fewer complaints of neck pain or limitation of neck movement. Physical examination showed almost normal cervical spine range of motion. Spurling's neck compression test was negative in all patients. Anteroposterior cervical radiographs showed the lack of pulmonary air at the top of the affected lung in all cases and first rib encroachment in one case. The diagnosis of superior pulmonary sulcus tumor can be further confirmed by CT and MRI. Conclusions By the method of combination of history, physical examination, and radiological findings, superior pulmonary sulcus tumor can be efficiently differentiated from cervical radiculopathy. Normal motion range of the cervical spine, negative Spurling's neck compression test, and the lack of pulmonary air at the top of the affected lung in anteroposterior cervical radiographs should be considered as indications for further chest radiograph examinations. 展开更多
