Low-polarity solvent-mediated lithium metal stabilization for improved performance in lithium–sulfur batteries

Rechargeable lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries are considered promising next-generation energy storage systems owing to their high theoretical energy density,but their application is hindered by the shuttle effect arising from dissolved lithium polysulfides(LiPSs).Herein,we design an optimized electrolyte to achieve long-term stability by employing an appropriate low-polarity solvent.A combination of diethyl ether(DEE)and 1,2-dimethoxyethane(DME)was selected to improve Li metal stability even in the presence of LiPSs.The DEE/DME electrolyte not only suppresses parasitic reactions between Li and LiPSs but also promotes uniform Li deposition.Moreover,operando optical microscopy was employed to directly visualize electrolyte stability and dendrite evolution in real time,while quantitative analysis was conducted via normalized hue index and contour image mapping.The enhanced anode stability of the DEE/DME electrolyte enabled excellent cycling performance,retaining 80.14%of its initial capacity after300 cycles at 3 C,while maintaining superior performance under practical conditions with high sulfur loading and a low E/S ratio.These findings highlight that solvent properties critically influence Li metal stabilization in Li–S batteries and underscore the significance of solvent engineering in electrolyte design. 展开更多

A simple method is applied to calculating the optical path difference (OPD) of a plane parallel uniaxial plate with an arbitrary optical axis direction. Then, the theoretical expressions of the OPD and lateral displacement (LD) of Savart polariscope under non-ideal conditions are obtained exactly. The variations of OPD and LD are simulated, and some important conclusions are obtained when the optical axis directions have an identical tolerance of /pm 1^{{/circ}}. An application example is given that the tolerances of optical axis directions are gained according to the spectral resolution tolerances of the stationary polarization interference imaging spectrometer (SPIIS). Several approximate formulae are obtained for explaining some conclusions above. The work provides a theoretical guidance for the optic design, crystal processing, installation and debugging, data analysis and spectral reconstruction of the SPIIS. 展开更多

To improve the time and frequency reference standards used for radio astronomy and high precision atomic physics applications, we describe a novel stable frequency transmission technique. The approach uses a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser(VCSEL) based phase correction actuator. Using a frequency mixing process for feedback control, the phase noise induced along the 26 km G.655 optical fibre link was actively reduced. This was achieved by using a 1 310 nm dither controlled VCSEL phase error correction actuator together with the inherent chromatic dispersion properties of the fibre. The technique corrects phase noise and optical signal drift along the fibre at the transmission end. Fractional frequency instabilities across the G.655 fibre link of 4.44×10-12 at 1 s and 4.86×10-14 at 104 s are successfully reported. 展开更多

A method is presented to improve the laser frequency stabilization for the optical pumping cesium clock. By comparing the laser frequency stabilization of different schemes, we verify that the light angle is an important factor that limits the long-term frequency stability. We minimize the drift of the light angle by using a fiber- coupled output, and lock the frequency of a distributed-feedback diode laser to the fluorescence spectrum of the atomic beam. The measured frequency stability is about 3.5 ×10^-11 at i s and reaches 1.5 × 10^-12 at 2000s. The Allan variance keeps going down for up to thousands of seconds, indicating that the medium- and long-term stability of the laser frequency is significantly improved and perfectly fulfills the requirement for the optical pumping cesium clock. 展开更多

Environmental vibration causes mechanical deformation in optical fibers, which induces excess frequency noise in fiber-stabilized lasers. In order to solve such a problem, we propose an ultralow acceleration sensitivity fiber spool with symmetrically mounted structure. By numerical analysis with the finite element method, we obtain the optimal geometry parameters of the spool with which the horizontal and vertical acceleration sensitivity can be reduced to 3.25 × 10^-12/g and 5.38 × 10^-12/g respectively. Moreover, the structure features the insensitivity to the variation of geometry parameters,which will minimize the influence from numerical simulation error and manufacture tolerance. 展开更多

Angular velocity stabilization control and attitude stabilization control for an underactuated spacecraft using only two single gimbal control moment gyros (SGCMGs) as actuators is investigated. First of all, the dynamic model of the underactuated spacecraft is established and the singularity of different configurations with the two SGCMGs is analyzed. Under the assumption that the gimbal axes of the two SGCMGs are installed in any direction, and that the total system angular momentum is not zero, a state feedback control law via Lyapunov method is designed to globally asymptotically stabilize the angular velocity of spacecraft. Under the assumption that the gimbal axes of the two SGCMGs are coaxially installed along anyone of the three principal axes of spacecraft inertia, and that the total system angular momentum is zero, a discontinuous state feedback control law is designed to stabilize three-axis attitude of spacecraft with respect to the inertial frame. Furthermore, the singularity escape of SGCMGs for the above two control problems is also studied. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the control laws. 展开更多

A novel liquid dye 2-((2E,5E)-2,5-bis(4-(methyl(2,5, 8,11-tetraoxatridecan-13-yl)amino)benzylidene)cyclopentylidene) malononitrile (TO-BDCM) was synthesized by incorporating two oligo(ethenyl glycol) groups into the backbone of a prototype malononitrile derivative (BDCM) for the purpose of increasing its solubility in organic solvents. The nonlinear absorption properties of this liquid dye on 1064 nm ns pulsed laser were investigated in DMF with remarkably high concentration up to ~1M, showing a superior large nonlinear absorption coefficient of 55.6 cm3/GW2. Fairly good optical limiting and stabilization effects were achieved. Meanwhile, the liquid dye exhibited equivalent stability under laser irradiation compared to its prototype dye BDCM. 展开更多

Future applications of portable40Ca^(+)optical clocks require reliable magnetic field stabilization to improve frequency stability, which can be achieved by implementing an active and passive magnetic field noise suppression system. On the one hand, we have optimized the magnetic shielding performance of the portable optical clock by reducing its apertures and optimizing its geometry;on the other hand, we have introduced an active magnetic field noise suppression system to further suppress the magnetic field noise experienced by the ions. These efforts reduced the ambient magnetic field noise by about 10000 times, significantly reduced the linewidth of the clock transition spectrum, improved the stability of the portable40Ca+optical clock, and created the conditions for using portable optical clocks in non-laboratory magnetic field environments. This active magnetic field suppression scheme has the advantages of simple installation and wide applicability. 展开更多

An airborne multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopic (AMAX-DOAS) instrument was developed and applied to measure tropospheric NO2 in the Pearl River Delta region in the south of China. By combining the measurements in nadir and zenith directions and analyzing the UV and visible spectral region using the DOAS method, information about tropospheric NO2 vertical columns was obtained. Strong tropospheric NO2 signals were detected when flying over heavilly polluted regions and point sources like plants. The AMAX-DOAS results were compared with ground-based MAX-DOAS observations in the southwest of Zhuhai city using the same parameters for radiative transport calculations. The difference in vertical column data between the two instruments is about 8%. Our data were also compared with those from OMI and fair agreement was obtained with a correlation coefficient R of 0.61. The difference between the two instruments can be attributed to the different spatial resolution and the temporal mismatch during the measurements. 展开更多

In recent years,all inorganic CsPbX_(3)(X=F,Cl,Br,and I)perovskite quantum dots(QDs)have garnered increasing attention for their exceptional optical properties.However,the comme rcialization of CsPbX_(3)is hampered by poor environmental stability and lead toxicity.Fortunately,the strategy of incorporating CsPbX_(3)into microcrystalline glass effectively addresses this issue.Notably,CsPbF_(3)demonstrates improved phase stability and a unique electronic structure,making its exploration crucial for various applications.In this study,we synthesized CsPbF_(3)QDs-in-glass(QiG)and Tb^(3+)-doped CsPbF_(3)QDs-inglasses(QiGs)using melt quenching and in-situ growth methods.The CsPbF_(3)QiG exhibits intrinsic photoluminescence with the main peak in the ultraviolet range,while Tb^(3+)-doped glasses show coemission of CsPbF_(3)QDs and Tb^(3+),allowing tunable colors by adjusting Tb^(3+)content.We systematically studied and evaluated the application of Tb^(3+)-doped CsPbF_(3)QiG as an optical temperature sensor.Importantly,the glass sample demonstrates high stability,including good thermal stability,superior high-temperature resistance,and moisture stability.This work significantly contributes to the exploration of the optical properties of CsPbF_(3)QiG,providing new insights into its future applications in diverse optical-related fields. 展开更多

Optimization and simplification of optical systems represent a milestone in advancing the development of handheld and portable laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS)systems towards smaller,more integrated forms.This research,for the first time,conducted a comprehensive optimization design and comparative analysis of three compact LIBS system optical paths:the paraxial optical path(OP),the off-axis OP,and the reflective OP.The differences in spectral intensity and stability among these paths were revealed,providing a scientific basis for selecting the optimal OP for LIBS systems.The research found that the paraxial OP excels in spectral performance and quantitative analysis accuracy,making it the preferred choice for compact LIBS systems.Specifically,the paraxial OP significantly enhances spectral intensity,achieving a 6 times improvement over the off-axis OP and an even more remarkable 150 times increase compared to the reflective OP,greatly enhancing detection sensitivity.Additionally,the relative standard deviation,spectral stability index,maintains a consistently low level,ranging from 10.9%to 13.4%,significantly outperforming the other two OPs and ensuring the reliability of analytical results.In the field of quantitative analysis,the paraxial OP also demonstrates higher accuracy,precision,and sensitivity,comparing to other OPs.The quantitative analysis models for Si,Cu,and Ti elements exhibit excellent fitting,providing users with high-quality quantitative analysis results that are of great significance for applications in material science,environmental monitoring,industrial inspection,and other fields.In summary,this study not only confirms the enormous application potential of the paraxial OP in compact LIBS systems but also provides valuable practical experience and theoretical support for the miniaturization and integration of LIBS systems.Looking ahead,with continuous technological advancements,the design of the paraxial OP is expected to further propel the widespread adoption of LIBS technology in portable,on-site detection applications. 展开更多

空间相机光学系统设计及热稳定性分析

离轴反射式光学系统可用于对地遥感与测绘,因此要求光学系统兼具大视场、高像质与稳定内方位元素。针对传统消像差法所得初始结构轴外像质量差、相机成像过程中存在指向热漂移等问题,本文推导了孔径光阑在次镜处、主镜和三镜沿光轴等距... 离轴反射式光学系统可用于对地遥感与测绘,因此要求光学系统兼具大视场、高像质与稳定内方位元素。针对传统消像差法所得初始结构轴外像质量差、相机成像过程中存在指向热漂移等问题,本文推导了孔径光阑在次镜处、主镜和三镜沿光轴等距分布条件下三反光学系统结构像差系数,并引入主、三镜四次非球面项像差,增加优化变量,构建像质评价函数,结合远心约束条件,利用GA-SQP算法得到视场离轴下准远心的三反初始结构。进一步优化得到一款焦距为260 mm、F数为10,视场为7°×30°准远心离轴三反光学系统。其MTF在77 lp/mm处大于0.25,最大畸变为2%,最大主光线倾角为2.3°。针对该设计,采用微晶玻璃为基底,钛合金为结构材料,对系统进行有限元热分析。基于TRIAD算法,定量分析系统光轴在6.8℃温差条件下绕相机坐标系X/Y/Z三轴旋转变化为绕X轴-1.3″,绕Y轴-11.9″,绕Z轴-0.004″,结果表明光学系统具有较高热稳定性的同时也对无控条件下在轨测绘数据误差修正具有重要意义。 展开更多

本文介绍了一种基于非线性环形放大器锁模技术实现的长期稳定度达10^(-21)量级的掺铒光纤光学频率梳研究.自建的重复频率(f_(r))为100 MHz的掺铒(Er)光纤飞秒激光器输出290 mW,67 fs的飞秒脉冲,采用共线f-2f自参考技术探测到信噪比约35... 本文介绍了一种基于非线性环形放大器锁模技术实现的长期稳定度达10^(-21)量级的掺铒光纤光学频率梳研究.自建的重复频率(f_(r))为100 MHz的掺铒(Er)光纤飞秒激光器输出290 mW,67 fs的飞秒脉冲,采用共线f-2f自参考技术探测到信噪比约35 dB的载波包络偏频(f_(ceo))信号.通过锁相环电路控制腔内的快速电光调制器、压电陶瓷和泵浦电流实现了将f_(ceo)和与连续激光的拍频信号同时锁定到微波参考信号.锁定后f_(ceo)的相位噪声为421 mrad,环内相对频率稳定性为5.24×10^(-17)@1s,拍频相位噪声为129 mrad,环内相对频率稳定性1.73×10^(-18)@1s,在20000 s时进一步提升至5.30×10^(-21).这样高稳定低噪声的光纤光梳系统为开展高精度光钟、光频比对、时频传递等研究提供了理想工具. 展开更多

在超长跨距光纤频率传递过程中,功率衰减、有源器件带附加噪声等因素导致接收端频率信号微弱,限制了信号检测分辨率和灵敏度。针对该问题,本研究团队提出基于本振光增强的双混频时差微弱频率信号检测方法,通过相干激光器增强微弱载波信... 在超长跨距光纤频率传递过程中,功率衰减、有源器件带附加噪声等因素导致接收端频率信号微弱,限制了信号检测分辨率和灵敏度。针对该问题,本研究团队提出基于本振光增强的双混频时差微弱频率信号检测方法,通过相干激光器增强微弱载波信号功率,采用双混频时差检测结构以提升接收灵敏度,同时结合平衡探测技术实现高信噪比信号提取。实验结果表明:与传统的强度调制/直接探测方式相比,基于本振光增强的双混频时差微弱频率信号检测方法可有效提升接收端灵敏度约10 dB,在相同的入光功率条件下射频功率提升了25 dB;该方法实现了优异的频率稳定度,阿伦方差为2×10-13@1 s及2.1×10-15@10 000 s,在差频为10 kHz的条件下稳定度为3×10-17@1 s和3×10-19@10 000 s,验证了其在高精度光纤频率传递中的可行性与显著优势。 展开更多
