In order to improve the registration accuracy of brain magnetic resonance images(MRI),some deep learning registration methods use segmentation images for training model.How-ever,the segmentation values are constant for each label,which leads to the gradient variation con-centrating on the boundary.Thus,the dense deformation field(DDF)is gathered on the boundary and there even appears folding phenomenon.In order to fully leverage the label information,the morphological opening and closing information maps are introduced to enlarge the non-zero gradi-ent regions and improve the accuracy of DDF estimation.The opening information maps supervise the registration model to focus on smaller,narrow brain regions.The closing information maps supervise the registration model to pay more attention to the complex boundary region.Then,opening and closing morphology networks(OC_Net)are designed to automatically generate open-ing and closing information maps to realize the end-to-end training process.Finally,a new registra-tion architecture,VM_(seg+oc),is proposed by combining OC_Net and VoxelMorph.Experimental results show that the registration accuracy of VM_(seg+oc) is significantly improved on LPBA40 and OASIS1 datasets.Especially,VM_(seg+oc) can well improve registration accuracy in smaller brain regions and narrow regions. 展开更多

Window opening operations are considered as one of the significant way of regulating indoor climate and maintaining thermal comfort in buildings,even when alternative active devices such as fans and air conditioners are available.This study investigates responses of occupants of the traditional core areas of Ibadan and Ogbomoso to thermal comfort conditions(thermal stress)through window opening behaviours.Climatic data of the two cities were subjected to Evans scale to predict their day and night thermal stress and questionnaires were administered to know how occupants respond to changing thermal conditions through window opening behaviours.Descriptive and inferential statistics were used in analysing the data.The study found the morning periods to be the most comfortable,the afternoon periods offer the most hot discomfort condition and cold discomfort is mostly experienced in the evening periods in both cities.Findings revealed that majority of occupants in both cities prefer to keep their windows opened in the morning and afternoon periods and an increase was observed in the numbers of occupants who prefer to keep their windows closed in the evening periods.This is an indication that building occupants in both cities actively respond to thermal stress using window opening operations.Results obtained from chi square analysis concluded that there is a significant relationship between occupants’window opening behaviour and thermal conditions at different periods of the day in both cities.Recommendations were given on how to improve on window opening systems in the future. 展开更多

The reliability of electric supply to consumers is one of the most important factors that determine the requirements imposed on modem utility companies. This paper presents the results of investigation by computer software of the overvoltages resulting from a ferroresonance conditions in MV networks at open phase operating condition with and without connection to earth on source and load sides of distribution transformer. This overvoltage may reach 4.2 pu on one of the HV side of transformer unswitched phases. The results of the study show that ferroresonance overvoltage may be controlled by replacing fuses with circuit breakers on HV side to ensure switching-off all phases. Insertion of resistor or reactor in the neutral of source and loadsides of the transformer with 5% active load will help in suppressing overvoltages. 展开更多

Background Precise diagnosis and rapid treatment for acute complex intracranial hemorrhage(ICH)are crucial.The neurosurgical hybrid operating platform integrates traditional open neurosurgery operating room functionalities with endovascular therapy capabilities and is developing in the neurosurgical practice.However,its effect on the emergent complicated neurovascular cases needs pilot exploration.Methods In this prospective study,a total of 103 cases of both spontaneous and non-spontaneous ICH were consecutively recruited between June 2019 and June 2023.Demographic data,including age,gender distribution,and types of hemorrhage,were collected.Surgical interventions were tailored based on DSA,including spontaneous and non-spontaneous hemorrhages.Functional outcomes were assessed using the modified Rankin Scale(mRS)preoperatively and postoperatively.Results Over the study period from June 2019 to June 2023,a cohort of 103 ICH cases underwent emergency hybrid surgical treatment utilizing the E-HOPE platform.Among these cases,88 were classified as spontaneous ICH,while 15 were non-spontaneous.The mean age at diagnosis for the entire cohort was 54.0±3.7 years,with a slight predominance of male patients.Spontaneous ICH encompassed a diverse spectrum of etiologies,including arteriovenous malformations,aneurysms,arteriovenous fistulas,cavernous malformations,moyamoya disease,and cryptogenic hemorrhages.Surgical interventions were tailored to address the specific pathology.Notably,improvements in mRS scores were observed in a majority of cases,with some patients experiencing stabilization or deterioration postoperatively.Non-spontaneous cases(n=15)were primarily iatrogenic(n=13)due to tumors adjacent to the internal carotid artery,necessitating stent graft deployment.Surgical approaches,including stent graft deployment and middle meningeal artery embolization,were effective in managing these cases.Postoperative functional outcomes varied depending on the nature of the hemorrhage,with a subset of patients demonstrating improvement in mRS scores while others showed no significant change.Conclusions Emergency hybrid surgical treatment utilizing the E-HOPE platform offers promising outcomes for ICH patients.Tailored surgical approaches result in favorable postoperative functional outcomes,highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in managing these complex cases. 展开更多

Tank sloshing in ship cargo is excited by ship motions, which induces impact load on tank wall and then affects the ship motion. Wave forces acting on ship hull and the retardation function are solved by using three-dimensional frequency domain theory and an impulse response function method based on the potential flow theory, and global ship motion is examined coupling with nonlinear tank sloshing which is simulated by viscous flow theory. Based on the open source Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) development platform Open Field Operation and Manipulation (OpenFOAM), numerical calculation of ship motion coupled with tank sloshing is achieved and the corresponding numerical simulation and validation are carried out. With this method, the interactions of wave, ship body and tank sloshing are completely taken into consideration. This method has quite high efficiency for it takes advantage of potential flow theory for outer flow field and viscous flow theory for inside tank sloshing respectively. The numerical and experimental results of the ship motion agree well with each other. 展开更多

As the pump turbine tends to be operated with high head and high rotational speed, the study of stability problems becomes more important. The pump turbine usually works at operating conditions where the guide vanes experience strong vibrations. However, most traditional studies were carried out based on constant GVO(guide vane opening) simulations. In this work, dynamic analysis on pressure fluctuation in the vaneless region of a pump turbine model was conducted using a dynamic mesh method in turbine mode. 3D unsteady simulations were conducted where GVO was closed and opened by 1° from the initial 18°. Detailed time domain and frequency domain characteristics on pressure fluctuation in the vaneless region under different guide vane rotational states compared with constant GVO simulations were investigated. Results show that, during the guide vanes oscillating process, the low and intermediate frequency components in the vaneless region are significantly different. The amplitudes of pressure fluctuation are higher than those with constant GVO simulations, which agree better with the experimental data. In addition, the pressure fluctuation increases when GVO is opened, and vice versa. It can be concluded that pressure fluctuation in the vaneless region is strongly influenced by the oscillating of the guide vanes. 展开更多
