In this paper,the open-sourced computational fluid dynamics software,OpenFOAM~?,is used to study the fluctuation phenomenon of the water body inside a horizontally one-dimensional enclosed harbor basin with constant w...In this paper,the open-sourced computational fluid dynamics software,OpenFOAM~?,is used to study the fluctuation phenomenon of the water body inside a horizontally one-dimensional enclosed harbor basin with constant water depth triggered by falling wedges with various horizontal falling positions,initial falling velocities and masses.Based on both Fourier transfo rm analysis and wavelet spectrum analysis for the time series of the free surface elevations inside the harbor basin,it is found for the first time that the wedge falling inside the harbor can directly trigger harbor resonance.The influences of the three factors(including the horizontal falling position,the initial falling velocity,and the mass)on the response amplitudes of the lowest three resonant modes are also investigated.The results show that when the wedge falls on one of the nodal points of a resonant mode,the mode would be remarkably suppressed.Conversely,when the wedge falls on one of the anti-nodal points of a resonant mode,the mode would be evidently triggered.The initial falling velocity of the wedge mainly has a remarkable effect on the response amplitude of the most significant mode,and the latter shows a gradual increase trend with the increase of the former.While for the other two less significant modes,their response amplitudes fluctuate around certain constant values as the initial falling velocity rises.In general,the response amplitudes of all the lowest three modes are shown to gradually increase with the mass of the wedge.展开更多

There are many mechanical structures and analyti?cal methods for di erent hands. But many tough problems still limit robot hands to apply in homelike environment. The ability of grasping objects covering a large range of sizes and various shapes is fundamental for a home service robot to serve people better. In this paper, a new grasping mode based on a novel sucked?type underactuated(STU) hand is proposed. By combining the flexibility of soft material and the e ect of suction cups, the STU hand can grasp objects with a wide range of sizes, shapes and materials. Moreover, the new grasping mode is suitable for some situations where the force closure is failure. In this paper, we deduce the e ective range of sizes of objects which our hand using the new grasping mode can grasp. Thanks to the new grasping mode, the ratio of grasping size between the biggest object and the smallest is beyond 40, which makes it possible for our robot hand to grasp diverse objects in our daily life. For example, the STU hand can grasp a soccer(220 mm diameter, 420 g) and a fountain pen(9 mm diameter, 9 g). What’s more, we use the rigid body equilibrium conditions to analysis the force condition. Experiment evaluates the high load capacity, stability of the new grasping mode and displays the versatility of the STU hand. The STU hand has a wide range of applications especially in unstructured environment.展开更多
In structural simulation and design,an accurate computational model directly determines the effectiveness of performance evaluation.To establish a high-fidelity dynamic model of a complex assembled structure,a Hierarc...In structural simulation and design,an accurate computational model directly determines the effectiveness of performance evaluation.To establish a high-fidelity dynamic model of a complex assembled structure,a Hierarchical Model Updating Strategy(HMUS)is developed for Finite Element(FE)model updating with regard to uncorrelated modes.The principle of HMUS is first elaborated by integrating hierarchical modeling concept,model updating technology with proper uncorrelated mode treatment,and parametric modeling.In the developed strategy,the correct correlated mode pairs amongst the uncorrelated modes are identified by an error minimization procedure.The proposed updating technique is validated by the dynamic FE model updating of a simple fixed–fixed beam.The proposed HMUS is then applied to the FE model updating of an aeroengine stator system(casings)to demonstrate its effectiveness.Our studies reveal that(A)parametric modeling technique is able to build an efficient equivalent model by simplifying complex structure in geometry while ensuring the consistency of mechanical characteristics;(B)the developed model updating technique efficiently processes the uncorrelated modes and precisely identifies correct Correlated Mode Pairs(CMPs)between FE model and experiment;(C)the proposed HMUS is accurate and efficient in the FE model updating of complex assembled structures such as aeroengine casings with large-scale model,complex geometry,high-nonlinearity and numerous parameters;(D)it is appropriate to update a complex structural FE model parameterized.The efforts of this study provide an efficient updating strategy for the dynamic model updating of complex assembled structures with experimental test data,which is promising to promote the precision and feasibility of simulation-based design optimization and performance evaluation of complex structures.展开更多
