However, high cost caused by the use of high-quality slaked lime and difficult operation due to the complex flow field are two issues which have received great attention. Accordingly, a laboratory-scale fluidized bed reactor was constructed to investigate the effects of physical properties and external conditions on desulfurization performance of slaked lime, and the conclusions were tried out in an industrial-scale CFB-FGD tower. After that, a numerical model of the tower was established based on computational particle fluid dynamics(CPFD) and two-film theory. After comparison and validation with actual operation data, the effects of operating parameters on gas-solid distribution and desulfurization characteristics were investigated. The results of experiments and industrial trials showed that the use of slaked lime with a calcium hydroxide content of approximately 80% and particle size greater than 40 μm could significantly reduce the cost of desulfurizer. Simulation results showed that the flow field in the desulfurization tower was skewed under the influence of circulating ash. We obtained optimal operating conditions of 7.5 kg·s^(-1)for the atomized water flow, 70 kg·s^(-1)for circulating ash flow, and 0.56 kg·s^(-1)for slaked lime flow, with desulfurization efficiency reaching 98.19% and the exit flue gas meeting the ultraclean emission and safety requirements. All parameters selected in the simulation were based on engineering examples and had certain application reference significance.展开更多

Based on the platform of PHEONICS version 3.5.1, a three-dimensional numerical method for predicting the turbulent fluid flow behavior in the shell side of the rod baffle heat exchangers is developed in this paper. With this method, modeling of the tube bundle is carried out based on the porous media concept using volumetric porosities and applicable flow resistance correlations. The results indicate that there are two circulations at the surface flow where part of electrolyte backflows to the inlet from the side of cell, and the rest flows directly to the outlet, and the separation of two circulations with opposite direction occurs at the 20th pair of anode-cathode. This phenomenon was observed in the real operation. The electrolyte flows into the space between anode and cathode from the side portion of the cell. Meanwhile, the interelectrode effective flow rate (IEFR) is put forward to describe quantitively the flow field characteristics and is defined as the ratio of electrolyte flow between the anode and cathode to the total flow area. The influences of structure parameters and operating conditions on IEFR, such as the inlet angle, the volumetric flow rate, the inlet position and the height of steel baffles were simulated. IEFR is in linear proportion with the volumetric flow rate, and the height of the steel baffle has little influence on the flow field.展开更多

However, air entrapment in HPDC parts has serious effects upon the casting quality. In order to reduce the air entrapment defects in a AlSi10 MnMg alloy thin-wall longitudinal load-bearing beam produced by HPDC, different gating systems were designed and simulated by software Flow-3D to evaluate the entrapped air. Simulation results showed that when the beam is produced by the original designed gating system with a middle ingate, there exist obvious air entrapments in the critical area; the volume of air entrapment was reduced by replacing the middle ingate to an overflow well, and the filling of molten metal became more stable. When the middle ingate was removed for further improvement, the volume of air entrapment was decreased drastically. The aim of this study is to achieve a better understanding of mineralization in the Xiangshan deposit through numerical simulation. In order to find the most favorable locations of mineralization and to help further mineral exploration, a coupling deforma- tion and fluid flow model has been established to describe the mineralization process. In this model, the simulation re- constructs the strata deformations under fields of compressive stress and thrust structure on the hanging wall of the Zou-Shi fault. Compared with practical information, the simulation results are consistent with the No. 51 exploration section of the western Xiangshan. In addition, on the basis of geological information provided by previous investigators, the model simulates the flow process of fluids under compressive stress fields. The result suggests that many tensional areas are formed, which can help the fluid flowing upward from deeper parts. The fluid is easy to concentrate on the breccia fractured zone between two volcanic layers, especially on the intersection parts with faults, resulting in the for- mation of favourable locations of mineralization. In addition, the model is significant in guiding the exploration of ura- nium deposits in the western Xiangshan and provides clues for further exploration of deposits.展开更多

Therefore, the present work employs a 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model to have an integrated observation of the FSW process with the effect of polygonal pin profiles. Both the heat generation modes due to contact friction at the tool–workpiece interface and volumetric viscous dissipation in the vicinity of the tool are considered. The model is utilized to give a quantitative analysis of the heat generation, temperature distribution, plastic material flow and welding loads during the FSW process for various tools with polygonal pin profiles, as well as a variety of shoulder diameters, welding speeds and tool rotation speeds. The calculated results of thermal cycles, tool torques and joint cross sections for some typical polygonal pins and welding parameters are all found to be compared well with the experimental ones, which demonstrates the feasibility and applicability of the present numerical model. Particularly, a methodology is developed for the optimization of the flats number by identifying the torque components in both parallel and vertical direction of the pin-side flat region. The results show that the optimized pin flats number increases with increasing tool rotation speed, while the influence of both welding speed and shoulder diameter can be supposed to be insignificant. Moreover, the dependability of the optimized results is also discussed by considering wear tendency and service life of the pin for multiple welding conditions.展开更多

In order to realize the monoblock casting of the substrate, the Pro/E software was utilized to carry out three-dimensional(3D) modeling of the substrate casting, and the filling and solidification processes were calculated, as well as the location and types of casting defects were predicted by the casting simulation software Anycasting. Results of the filling process simulation show that the metal liquid is distributed into each gap runner evenly and smoothly. There is no serious vortex phenomenon in the mold cavity, and the trajectory of the virtual particles is clear. Results of the solidification process simulation show that shrinkage cavities mainly appear at the junction of gap runners and the rail surface of the substrate. The average deformation is 0.6 mm in X direction, 3.8 mm in Y direction, and 8.2 mm in Z direction. Based on the simulation results, the casting process of the substrate was optimized, and qualified castings were successfully produced, which will provide a reference for the casting process design of other ultraslender aluminum alloy structural components.展开更多

Then, the CFCS thermodynamic model was proposed by establishing the multi-phase equilibrium model of FMSP and the local-equilibrium model of CCCP, respectively, and by combining them through the smelting intermediates. Subsequently, the influences of the furnace structures were investigated using the model on the formation of blister copper, the Fe3O4 behavior, the copper loss in slag and the copper recovery rate. The results show that the type D furnace, with double flues and a slag partition wall, is an ideal CFCS reactor compared with the other three types furnaces. For CFCS, it is effective to design a partition wall in the furnace to make FMSP and CCCP perform in two relatively independent zones, respectively, and to make smelting gas and converting gas discharge from respective flues.展开更多

文摘High pressure die casting(HPDC) is a kind of near net shape manufacturing method. The parts with glossy surface and good microstructure have been successfully produced by using the final optimized gating system based on simulation results.

文摘Shrinkage defects can be formed easily at critical location during low pressure die casting (LPDC) of aluminum alloy cylinder body. It has harmful effect on the products. Mold filling and solidification process of a cylinder body was simulated by using of Z-CAST software. The casting method was improved based on the simulation results. In order to create effective feeding passage, the structure of casting was modified by changing the location of strengthening ribs at the bottom, without causing any adverse effect on the part's performance. Inserting copper billet at suitable location of the die is a valid way to create suitable solidification sequence that is beneficial to the feeding. Using these methods, the shrinkage defect was completely eliminated at the critical location.

文摘In order to acquire the flow pattern and investigate the settling behavior of the red mud in the separation thickener, computational fluid dynamics(CFD),custom subroutines and agglomerates settling theory were employed to simulate the three-dimensional flow field in an industrial scale thickener with the introduction of a self-dilute feed system. The simulation results show good agreement with the measurement onsite and the flow patterns of the thickener are presented and discussed on both velocity and concentration field.Optimization experiments on feed well and self-dilute system were also carried out,and indicate that the optimal thickener system can dilute the solid concentration in feed well from 110 g/L to 86 g/L which would help the agglomerates' formation and improve the red mud settling speed.Furthermore, the additional power of recirculation pump can be saved and flocculants dosage was reduced from 105g/t to 85g/t in the operation.

文摘The Xiangshan deposit in Jiangxi province is one of the most important uranium deposits in China. In addition, the model is significant in guiding the exploration of ura- nium deposits in the western Xiangshan and provides clues for further exploration of deposits.

文摘Although the shell mould casting process has a wide range of application in many fields, the prediction of casting defects is still a problem. In the present work,a typical leaf spring bracket casting of ZG310-570 was fabricated by shell mold casting. The finite element model and ProCAST software were utilized for simulating the filling and solidification processes of the casting;and the formation mechanism of the gas pore, and shrinkage porosity defects were analyzed. The results indicate that the gas pore and shrinkage porosity defects are formed due to air entrapment, insufficient feeding and non-sequential solidification.Subsequently, through changing the position of risers, adding a connecting channel between the risers, and setting blind risers at the U-shaped brackets,an optimized gating and feeding system was established to improve the quality of the casting. After optimization, the gas pore and shrinkage porosity defects of the leaf spring bracket casting are effectively eliminated. The experiment results with the optimized casting process are in good agreement with the numerical simulation, which verifies the validity of the finite element model in the shell mould casting.

文摘The tool with polygonal pin profile has been widely employed in friction stir welding(FSW) of aluminum, but there is hardly an effective optimization methodology existed as the thermomechanical characteristics affected by pins with various flats number have not been understood comprehensively. Moreover, the dependability of the optimized results is also discussed by considering wear tendency and service life of the pin for multiple welding conditions.
文摘Substrate, a typical ultra-slender aluminum alloy structural components with a large aspect ratio and complex internal structure, was traditionally manufactured by re-assembly and sub-welding. Based on the simulation results, the casting process of the substrate was optimized, and qualified castings were successfully produced, which will provide a reference for the casting process design of other ultraslender aluminum alloy structural components.

文摘Experimental studies were conducted on two high-strength steel plate-frame structures with different truss spacings under various impact velocities to investigate the dynamic mechanical properties of hull plate-frame structures under drop weight impact. The results showed that decreasing the main beam spacing can effectively increase the structural stiffness, reduce the maximum deformation, and increase the damage range.Furthermore,to simulate the impact tests accurately, static and dynamic tensile tests at different strain rates were carried out,and the Cowper-Symonds model parameters were fitted via experimental data. The material properties obtained from the tensile tests were used as inputs for numerical simulations with the numerical results coincide with the experimental results.A systematic analysis and discussion were conducted on the effects of truss spacing and truss width on the dynamic response of the reinforced plates, and an optimal range for the ratio of truss spacing to truss width was proposed. In addition,a mesh size sensitivity analysis for ship hull plate frame collision simulations was performed. The applicability of the EPS,MMC,and RTCL failure criteria in the simulation of plate-frame structures was investigated via finite element simulations of falling weight impact tests. The research findings provide a reference for ship hull structure design and resilience assessment.

文摘According to the innate characteristic of four types of furnace, the copper flash continuous smelting (CFCS) furnace can be considered a synthetic reactor of two relatively independent processes: flash matte smelting process (FMSP) and copper continuous converting process (CCCP). For CFCS, it is effective to design a partition wall in the furnace to make FMSP and CCCP perform in two relatively independent zones, respectively, and to make smelting gas and converting gas discharge from respective flues.

文摘It is of great practical value to explore the correlation between the vertical curve radius of desert highway and the increase of sand accumulation in local lines, and to select the appropriate vertical curve radius for reducing the risk of sand accumulation. In this study,three-dimensional models of desert highway embankments with different vertical curve radii were constructed, and Fluent software was used to simulate the wind-sand flow field and sand accumulation distribution of vertical curve embankments. The results show that:(1)Along the direction of the road, the concave and the convex vertical curve embankments have the effect of collecting and diverging the wind-sand flow, respectively. When the radius of the concave vertical curve is 3000 m,5000 m,8000 m,10000 m and 20000 m,the wind velocity in the middle of the vertical curve is 31.76%,22.58%,10.78%,10.53%and 10.44%,higher than that at both ends. When the radius of the convex vertical curve is 6500 m,8000 m,10000 m,20000 m and 30000 m,the wind velocity at both ends of the vertical curve is 14.06%,9.99%,6.14%,3.22%and 2.41%,higher than that in the middle. The diversion effect also decreases with the increase of the radius.(2)The conductivity of the concave and convex vertical curve embankments with different radii is greater than 1,which is the sediment transport roadbed. The conductivity increases with the increase of radius and gradually tends to be stable. When the radius of the concave and convex vertical curves reaches 8000 m and 20000 m respectively, the phenomenon of sand accumulation is no longer serious.Under the same radius condition, the concave vertical curve embankment is more prone to sand accumulation than the convex one.(3)Considering the strength of the collection and diversion of the vertical curve embankment with different radii, and the sand accumulation of the vertical curve embankment in the desert section of Wuma Expressway, the radius of the concave vertical curve is not less than 8000 m,and the radius of the convex vertical curve is not less than 20000 m,which can effectively reduce the sand accumulation of the vertical curve embankment. In the desert highway area, the research results of this paper can provide reference for the design of vertical curve to ensure the safe operation of desert highway.
