The model parameters of the investigated powder Distaloy AE were determined as functions of relative density through typical mechanical property tests of powder. Single sided compaction of a d20 ram^5 mm disk green compact of Distaloy AE was simulated, and the residual stress of the disk after ejection was predicted with FEA. Furthermore, we tested a number of numerical models using the FLAC;modeling software to find the best model to represent the experimental results. The high-speed multichannel acoustic emission(AE) waveform recording system used in this study made it possible to examine the total fracture process through detailed monitoring of AE hypocenters and seismic velocity. The experimental results show that injecting high-pressure oil into the rock sample can induce AE activity at very low stress levels and can dramatically reduce the strength of the rock. The results of the numerical simulations show that major experimental results, including the strength, the temporal and spatial patterns of the AE events, and the role of the fluid can be represented fairly well by a model involving(1) randomly distributed defect elements to model pre-existing cracks,(2) random modification of rock properties to represent inhomogeneity introduced by different mineral grains, and(3)macroscopic inhomogeneity. Our study, which incorporates laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, indicates that such an approach is helpful in finding a better model not only for simulating experimental results but also for upscaling purposes.展开更多

The casting method was improved based on the simulation results. In order to create effective feeding passage, the structure of casting was modified by changing the location of strengthening ribs at the bottom, without causing any adverse effect on the part's performance. Inserting copper billet at suitable location of the die is a valid way to create suitable solidification sequence that is beneficial to the feeding. The effect of warhead shell on shaped charge jet velocity has been analyzed qualitatively in this paper. The numerical simulation results are creditable and in agreement well with that of the corresponding experiment. The research results show that the jet velocity of explosive with metal shell is higher than that without shell; when the shell thickness increases, jet' s head speed also increases; when the shell thickness increased to certain value, the jet velocity will not change any longer; with the same shell thickness, the bigger material density the higher jet's head velocity.展开更多

Our study, which incorporates laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, indicates that such an approach is helpful in finding a better model not only for simulating experimental results but also for upscaling purposes.

文摘Shrinkage defects can be formed easily at critical location during low pressure die casting (LPDC) of aluminum alloy cylinder body. It has harmful effect on the products. Mold filling and solidification process of a cylinder body was simulated by using of Z-CAST software. Using these methods, the shrinkage defect was completely eliminated at the critical location.

文摘Hydrogen displays the potential to partially replace pulverized coal injection(PCI)in the blast furnace, and it can reduce CO_(2)emissions.In this paper,a three-dimensional mathematical model of hydrogen and pulverized coal co-injection in blast furnace tuyere was established through numerical simulation, and the effect of hydrogen injection and oxygen enrichment interaction on pulverized coal combustion and raceway smelting was investigated. The simulation results indicate that when the coal injection rate decreased from 36 to 30t/h and the hydrogen injection increased from 0 to 3600 m^(3)/h,the CO_(2)emissions decreased from 1860 to 1551 kg/t,which represents a16.6%reduction,and the pulverized coal burnout decreased from 70.1%to 63.7%.The heat released from hydrogen combustion can not only promote the volatilization of pulverized coal but also affect the combustion reaction between volatilization and oxygen, which resulted in a decrease in the temperature at the end of the raceway.Co-injection of hydrogen with PCI increased the wall temperature near the upper half part of the raceway and at the outlet of the tuyere, which required a high cooling efficiency to extend the service life of the blast furnace. The increase in oxygen level compensated for the decreased average temperature in the raceway due to hydrogen injection. The increase in the oxygen content by 3%while maintaining constant hydrogen and PCI injection rates increased the burnout and average raceway temperature by 4.2%and 43 K,respectively. The mole fraction of CO and H_(2) production increased by 0.04 and 0.02,respectively.Burnout can be improved through optimization of the particle size distribution of pulverized coal.

文摘Bedding parallel stepped rock slopes exist widely in nature and are used in slope engineering. They are characterized by complex topography and geological structure and are vulnerable to shattering under strong earthquakes. However,no previous studies have assessed the mechanisms underlying seismic failure in rock slopes. In this study,large-scale shaking table tests and numerical simulations were conducted to delineate the seismic failure mechanism in terms of acceleration, displacement, and earth pressure responses combined with shattering failure phenomena. The results reveal that acceleration response mutations usually occur within weak interlayers owing to their inferior performance, and these mutations may transform into potential sliding surfaces, thereby intensifying the nonlinear seismic response characteristics.Cumulative permanent displacements at the internal corners of the berms can induce quasi-rigid displacements at the external corners, leading to greater permanent displacements at the internal corners. Therefore, the internal corners are identified as the most susceptible parts of the slope. In addition, the concept of baseline offset was utilized to explain the mechanism of earth pressure responses, and the result indicates that residual earth pressures at the internal corners play a dominant role in causing deformation or shattering damage.Four evolutionary deformation phases characterize the processes of seismic responses and shattering failure of the bedding parallel stepped rock slope,i.e.the formation of tensile cracks at the internal corners of the berm, expansion of tensile cracks and bedding surface dislocation, development of vertical tensile cracks at the rear edge, and rock mass slipping leading to slope instability.Overall, this study provides a scientific basis for the seismic design of engineering slopes and offers valuable insights for further studies on preventing seismic disasters in bedding parallel stepped rock slopes.
文摘Based on the primitive equation model with p- σ incorporated coordinate system originally developed by Qian et al., a one-way nested fine mesh limited area model is developed. This model is nested with ECMWF T42 data to simulate the extra-intensive rainfall event occurring in the Changjiang and Huaihe River valleys in summer of 1991. The results show that the model has certain capacity to fairly reproduce the regional distribution and the movement of the main rainfall belts. Therefore it can be used as a regional climate model to simulate and predict the short-range regional climate changes.

文摘A transient,two-dimensional,coupled finite element model was employed to simulate the solidification and shrinkage of continuous casting steels by means of ANSYSTM.In the model,a gap-dependent heat transfer condition was introduced to modify the heat flux function, and the variations of material thermal properties, mechanical properties as well as the yield function with temperature were considered. The solidification and shrinkage processes of four round billets and two square billets were simulated by indirect coupled method.Simulation results show that carbon content, pouring temperature, casting speed and shape of billets have distinct influence on the solidification shrinkage of billets.Ideal continuous parabolic tapers were designed and optimized according to the calculated shrinkage curves of billets.

文摘The graded density impactor(GDI)dynamic loading technique is crucial for acquiring the dynamic physical property parameters of materials used in weapons. The accuracy and timeliness of GDI structural design are key to achieving controllable stress-strain rate loading. In this study,we have, for the first time, combined one-dimensional fluid computational software with machine learning methods. We first elucidated the mechanisms by which GDI structures control stress and strain rates.Subsequently,we constructed a machine learning model to create a structure-property response surface. The results show that altering the loading velocity and interlayer thickness has a pronounced regulatory effect on stress and strain rates. In contrast, the impedance distribution index and target thickness have less significant effects on stress regulation, although there is a matching relationship between target thickness and interlayer thickness.Compared with traditional design methods, the machine learning approach offers a10^(4)—10^(5)times increase in efficiency and the potential to achieve a global optimum, holding promise for guiding the design of GDI.

文摘The behavior of single bubble rising in quiescent shear-thinning tlmds was lnvestlgateO numerically by level set metnoa. number of bubbles in a large range of Reynolds number and Eotvos number were investigated including spherical, oblate and spherical. The bubble shape and drag coefficient were compared with experimental results. It is observed that the simulated results show good conformity to experimental results over a wide range of Reynolds number. In addition, the detailed flow field based on the reference coordinate system moving with the bubble is obtained, and the relationship among flow field, bubble shape and velocity is discussed.
文摘The numerical simulation for the process of shaped charge jet produced with the shell of explosives is performed by means of the ANSYS/LS-DYNA 3D software. The effect of warhead shell on shaped charge jet velocity has been analyzed qualitatively in this paper. The numerical simulation results are creditable and in agreement well with that of the corresponding experiment. The research results show that the jet velocity of explosive with metal shell is higher than that without shell; when the shell thickness increases, jet' s head speed also increases; when the shell thickness increased to certain value, the jet velocity will not change any longer; with the same shell thickness, the bigger material density the higher jet's head velocity.

文摘Based on the simplification of cutting process,a series of numerical simulations were conducted using a 2-D discrete element method to explore the effects of embedded cracks with different dip angles on the rock fragmentation process, cutting characteristics and breaking efficiency. The results show that the simulated results are in a good agreement with previous theoretical study. The main crack propagates to the top tip of embedded crack, except when the dip angle is 90°.Side cracks which are more fully developed in the rocks containing embedded cracks tend to propagate towards the free surface.According to the history of vertical cutting force,it is shown that the peak force is decreased by embedded cracks. The study on cutting efficiency was conducted by combining the quantity of crack and cutting energy. And the results show that breaking efficiency can be treated as a decreasing or a increasing function when the dip angle is less or larger than 30°,respectively.Breaking efficiency is higher than that in intact rock when the dip angle is larger than 45°.
