Efforts have been made to curb this infectious organism through various vaccine strategies. However, its several strains and serotypes have necessitated various vaccine schedules and updates in the USA and globally. The evolution in pneumococcal vaccine schedules is not without challenges, such as cost, vaccine hesitancy, uptake and global disparities. This narrative review synopsizes the history of the Pneumococcal Vaccine and changes in its schedules in the last two decades based on published data. We focused on the impact of pneumococcal vaccination on invasive pneumococcal diseases, historical limitations, current challenges and future directions. Despite advancements in vaccination against S. pneumoniae infections, some pertinent issues exist that need to be swiftly fixed, to reduce national and thus global burden of pneumococcal diseases.展开更多

Thousands of miRNA genes have been found in diverse species, and many of them are highly conserved. With the miRNA roles identified in nearly all aspects of biological processes, evidence is mounting that miRNAs could represent a new layer of regulatory network, and their regulatory effect might be much more pervasive than previously suspected. Here we focus on the posttranscriptional level gene regulation of miRNAs in animals and review how the miRNAs act to sustain and shape up the expression profiles of specific cell types; how the miRNAs integrate into the existing gene regulatory networks; and how the miRNAs influence the evolution of 3'UTR of mammalian mRNAs.展开更多

The "four vertical and four horizontal" HSR network represents an important milestone of the "traffic revolution" in China. It will affect the spatial pattern of tourism accessibility in Chinese cities, thus substan- tially increasing their power to attract tourists and their radiation force. This paper examines the evolution and spatial characteristics of the power to attract tourism of cities linked by China's HSR network by measuring the influence of accessibility of 338 HSR-linked cities using GIS analysis. The results show the following. (1) The accessibility of Chinese cities is optimized by the HSR network, whose spatial pattern of accessibility exhibits an obvious traf- fic direction and causes a high-speed rail-corridor effect. (2) The spatial pattern of tourism field strength in Chinese cities exhibits the dual characteristics of multi-center annular diver- gence and dendritic diffusion. Dendritic diffusion is particularly more obvious along the HSR line. The change rate of urban tourism field strength forms a high-value corridor along the HSR line and exhibits a spatial pattern of decreasing area from the center to the outer limit along the HSR line. (3) The influence of the higher and highest tourism field strength areas along the HSR line is most significant, and the number of cities that distribute into these two types of tourism field strengths significantly increases: their area expands by more than 100% HSR enhances the tourism field strength value of regional central cities, and the radiation range of tourism attraction extends along the HSR line.展开更多

Given this background, the work reported here examined the longterm development of transport networks in China. The national road network was selected for study and the 3500 years from 1600 BC to 1900 AD was chosen as the study period. Indicators were designed for the maturity level of road networks and an accessibility model was developed for the paths of the shortest distance. The evolution of the road network in China since the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC) was described and its major features were summarized to reveal longterm regu larities. The maturity level of the road network and its accessibility was assessed and regions with good and poor networks were identified. The relationship between China's natural, social and economic systems and the road network were discussed. Our analysis shows that the road network in China has a number of longterm regularities. The continuously expanding road network follows a path of inland expansion especially towards the border areas. How ever, its coverage and accessibility are characterized by a coreperipheral configuration, which has close relationships with, not only the natural conditions, but also national defense and warfare. The centralization of national power, national land governance, postal transport, the transport of specialized cargos, and international trade are also related to the develop ment of the road network. This research draws attention to the evolving regularities of trans port networks.展开更多

Consequently, a Real-Time Operating System(RTOS) that provides operating environments for various mission services on these UAVs has become crucial, which leads to the necessity of having a deep understanding of an RTOS. In this paper, an empirical study is conducted on FreeRTOS, a commonly used RTOS for UAVs, from a complex network perspective. A total of 85 releases of FreeRTOS, from V2.4.2 to V10.0.0, are modeled as directed networks, in which the nodes represent functions and the edges denote function calls. It is found that the size of the FreeRTOS network has grown almost linearly with the evolution of the versions, while its main core has evolved steadily. In addition, a k-core analysis-based metric is proposed to identify major functionality changes of FreeRTOS during its evolution. The result shows that the identified versions are consistent with the version change logs. Finally,it is found that the clustering coefficient of the Linux OS scheduler is larger than that of the FreeRTOS scheduler. In conclusion, the empirical results provide useful guidance for developers and users of UAV RTOSs.展开更多

A broad scale characteristic which is independent of the initial network topology is obtained with the proposed model. By simulating, it is found that preferential attachment causes the appearance of the scale-free characteristic, while the dividing will decrease the power-law behaviour and drive the evolution of broad scale networks.展开更多

To describe this kind of phenomena an Ising model on evolution networks was presented and used for consensus formation and separation of opinion groups in human population. In this model the state-holding probability p and selection-rewiring probability q were introduced. The influence of this mixed dynamics of spin flips and network rewiring on the ordering behavior of the model was investigated, p hinders ordering of opinion networks and q accelerates the dynamical process of networks. Influence of q on the ordering and separating stems from its effect on average path length of networks.展开更多

文摘Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a debilitating neurological disorder affecting over 10 million people worldwide.PD classification models using voice signals as input are common in the literature. It is believed that using deep learning algorithms further enhances performance;nevertheless,it is challenging due to the nature of small-scale and imbalanced PD datasets. This paper proposed a convolutional neural network-based deep support vector machine(CNN-DSVM)to automate the feature extraction process using CNN and extend the conventional SVM to a DSVM for better classification performance in small-scale PD datasets.A customized kernel function reduces the impact of biased classification towards the majority class(healthy candidates in our consideration). An improved generative adversarial network(IGAN)was designed to generate additional training data to enhance the model’s performance. For performance evaluation, the proposed algorithm achieves a sensitivity of 97.6%and a specificity of 97.3%.The performance comparison is evaluated from five perspectives, including comparisons with different data generation algorithms, feature extraction techniques, kernel functions, and existing works. Results reveal the effectiveness of the IGAN algorithm, which improves the sensitivity and specificity by 4.05%–4.72%and 4.96%–5.86%,respectively;and the effectiveness of the CNN-DSVM algorithm, which improves the sensitivity by 1.24%–57.4%and specificity by 1.04%–163%and reduces biased detection towards the majority class. The ablation experiments confirm the effectiveness of individual components. Two future research directions have also been suggested.

文摘Small-sized Cd_(x) Zn_(1-x) S solid solution nanomaterial is an important candidate for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE),but it still suffers from easy agglomeration, severe photo corrosion, and fast photogenerated electron-hole recombination. To tackle these issues, herein,we propose a new strategy to modify Cd_(x) Zn_(1-x) S nanoreactors by the simultaneous utilization of ionic-liquid-assisted morphology engineering and MXene-incorporating method. That is,we designed and synthesized a novel hierarchi-cal Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S/Ti_(3) C_(2) Schottky junction composite through the in-situ deposition of ultrathin Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S nanosheets on unique IL-modified Ti_(3) C_(2) MXenes by a one-pot solvothermal method for efficiently PHE.The unique construction strategy tailors the thickness of ultrathin Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S nanosheets and prevents them from stacking and agglomeration, and especially, optimizes their charge transfer pathways during the photocatalytic process.Compared with pristine Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S nanosheets,Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S/Ti_(3) C_(2) has abun-dant photogenerated electrons available on the Ti_(3) C_(2) surface for proton reduction reaction, owing to the absence of deep-trapped electrons, suppression of electron-hole recombination in Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S and high-efficiency charge separation at the Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S/Ti_(3) C_(2) Schottky junction interface. Moreover, the hy-drophilicity,electrical conductivity,visible-light absorption capacity, and surficial hydrogen desorption of Cd_(0.8) Zn_(0.2) S/Ti_(3) C_(2) heterostructure are significantly improved. As a result, the heterostructure exhibits out-standing photocatalytic stability and super high apparent quantum efficiency, being rendered as one of the best noble-metal-free Cd-Zn-S-based photocatalysts. This work illustrates the mechanisms of mor-phology control and heterojunction construction in controlling the catalytic behavior of photocatalysts and highlights the great potential of the IL-assisted route in the synthesis of high-performance MXene-based heterostructures for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.

文摘Doping engineering is an effective strategy for graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))to improve its photocat-alytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance. In this work,a novel nitrogen and sulfur co-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4))is elaborately designed on the basis of theoretical predictions of first-principle density functional theory(DFT).The calculated Gibbs free energy of adsorbed hydrogen(ΔGH∗)for N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4) at the N-doping active sites is extremely close to zero(0.01 eV).Inspired by the theoretical predictions, the N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4) is successfully fabricated through ammonia-rich pyrolysis synthesis strategy,in which ammonia is in-situ obtained by pyrolyzing melamine.Subsequent characterizations indicate that the N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4) possesses high specific surface area, outstanding light utilization, good hydrophilicity, and efficient carrier transfer efficiency.Consequently, the N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4) displays an extremely high H2 evolution rate of 8269.9μmol g−1 h−1,achieves an apparent quantum efficiency(AQE)of 3.24%,and also possesses outsatnding durability.Theoretical calculations further demonstrate that N and S dopants can not only introduce doping energy level to reduce the band gap,but also induce charge redistribution to facilitate hydrogen adsorption, thus promoting the photocatalytic HER process. Moreover, femtosecond transient absorption(fs-TA)spectroscopy further corroborates the efficient photogenerated carrier transport of N,S-g-C_(3)N_(4).This research highlights a promising and reliable strategy to achieve superior photocatalytic activity, and exhibits significant guidance for precise designing high-efficiency photocatalysts.

文摘The microstructure evolution and deformation mechanism of a DZ125 superalloy during high-temperature creep were studied by means of microstructure observation and creep-property tests. The results show that at the initial stage of high-temperature creep, two sets of dislocations with different Burgers vectors move and meet inγmatrix channels, and react to form a quadrilateral dislocation network.Andγ′phases with raft-like microstructure are generated after the formation of dislocation networks. As creep progresses, the quadrilateral dislocation network is gradually transformed into hexagonal and quadrilateral dislocation networks.During steady stage of creep, the superalloy undergoes deformation with the mechanism that a great number of dislocations slip and climb in the matrix across the raft-likeγ′phases.At the later stage of creep, the raft-likeγ′phases are sheared by dislocations at the breakage of dislocation networks, and then alternate slip occurs, which distorts and breaks the raft-likeγ′/γphases,resulting in the accumulation of micropores at the raft-likeγ′/γinterfaces and the formation of microcracks. As creep continues, the microcracks continue to expand until creep fracture occurs, which is the damage and fracture mechanism of the alloy at the later stage of creep at high temperature.
文摘Streptococcus pneumoniae is a known notorious cause of invasive pneumococcal diseases as well as asymptomatic host carriage. Despite advancements in vaccination against S. pneumoniae infections, some pertinent issues exist that need to be swiftly fixed, to reduce national and thus global burden of pneumococcal diseases.

文摘MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous -22 nucleotide noncoding RNAs that regulate the expression of complementary messenger RNAs (mRNAs). Here we focus on the posttranscriptional level gene regulation of miRNAs in animals and review how the miRNAs act to sustain and shape up the expression profiles of specific cell types; how the miRNAs integrate into the existing gene regulatory networks; and how the miRNAs influence the evolution of 3'UTR of mammalian mRNAs.

文摘The geological conditions of the Pingdingshan coal mining group were used to construct a physical model used to study the distribution and evolution of mining induced cracks in the overburden strata.Digital graphics technology and fractal theory are introduced to characterize the distribution and growth of the mining induced fractures in the overburden strata of an inclined coal seam.A relationship between fractal dimension of the fracture network and the pressure in the overburden strata is suggested.Mining induced fractures spread dynamically to the mining face and up into the roof as the length of advance increases. Moreover, the fractal dimension of the fracture network increases with increased mining length,in general, but decreases during a period from overburden strata separation until the main roof collapses. It is a1so shown that overburden strata pressure plays an important role in the evolution of mining induced fractures and that the fractal dimension of the fractures increases with the pressure of the overburden.

文摘Traffic is an indispensable prerequisite for a tourism system. (3) The influence of the higher and highest tourism field strength areas along the HSR line is most significant, and the number of cities that distribute into these two types of tourism field strengths significantly increases: their area expands by more than 100% HSR enhances the tourism field strength value of regional central cities, and the radiation range of tourism attraction extends along the HSR line.

文摘Before the emergence of modern modes of transport, the traditional road infra structure was the major historical means of carrying out nationwide socioeconomic exchange However, the history of transport infrastructure has received little attention from researchers. This research draws attention to the evolving regularities of trans port networks.

文摘With the flourishing development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs), the mission tasks of UAVs have become more and more complex. In conclusion, the empirical results provide useful guidance for developers and users of UAV RTOSs.

文摘Optical orbital angular momentum(OAM)mode multiplexing has emerged as a promising technique for boosting communication capacity. However, most existing studies have concentrated on channel(de)-multiplexing,overlooking the critical aspect of channel routing. This challenge involves the reallocation of multiplexed OAM modes across both spatial and temporal domains—a vital step for developing versatile communication networks. To address this gap,we introduce a novel approach based on the time evolution of OAM modes, utilizing the orthogonal conversion and diffractive modulation capabilities of unitary transformations. This approach facilitates high-dimensional orthogonal transformations of OAM mode vectors, altering both the propagation direction and the spatial location.Using Fresnel diffraction matrices as unitary operators,it manipulates the spatial locations of light beams during transmission, breaking the propagation invariance and enabling temporal evolution. As a demonstration,we have experimentally implemented the deep routing of four OAM modes within two distinct time sequences.Achieving an average diffraction efficiency above 78.31%,we have successfully deep-routed 4.69 Tbit-s^(-1)quadrature phase-shift keying(QPSK)signals carried by four multiplexed OAM channels, with a bit error rate below 10^(-6).These results underscore the efficacy of our routing strategy and its promising prospects for practical applications.

文摘Aimed at lowering the effect of 'rich get richer' in scale-free networks with the Barab^si and Albert model, this paper proposes a new evolving mechanism, which includes dividing and preference attachment for the growth of a network. A broad scale characteristic which is independent of the initial network topology is obtained with the proposed model. By simulating, it is found that preferential attachment causes the appearance of the scale-free characteristic, while the dividing will decrease the power-law behaviour and drive the evolution of broad scale networks.

文摘Many phenomena show that in a favorable circumstance an agent still has an updating possibility, and in an unfavor- able circumstance an agent also has a possibility of holding its own state and reselecting its neighbors. Influence of q on the ordering and separating stems from its effect on average path length of networks.
