A current-mode DC-DC buck converter with high stability is presented. The loop gain's expression of the current-mode converter is derived by employing an advanced model of a current-mode control converter. After analyzing the loop gain's expression, which illustrates the method of selecting suitable frequency compensation for the control loop,a novel pole-zero tracking frequency compensation is proposed. Based on theoretical analysis, a DC-DC buck converter with high stability is designed with 0.5μm-CMOS technology. The simulated results reveal that the stability of the converter is independent of the load current and the input voltage. Moreover,the converter provides a full load transient response setting time of less than 5μs and overshoots and undershoots of less than 30mV. 展开更多

Thecircuits, such as ternary full-adder etc., designed by using this theory have simpler circuit struc-tures and correct logic functions. In this work, an original Sallen-Key second-order low-pass filter is first turned into a current-mode one by means of the adjoint network theorem. Two nodal admittance matrices(NAM) of the filter are then educed. Furthermore, these two matrices are expanded through NAM expansion approach, generating one current-mode Sallen-Key filter, which uses two compact voltage differential trans-conductance amplifiers(VDTAs) and two grounded capacitors, implements not only one low-pass transfer function but two band-pass transfer functions, and provides the non-interrelated control between the natural frequency and quality factor. As an example of the synthesized filter, a second-order VDTA filter with fo=1 MHz, Q=1, HLP=-HBP1=HBP2=1 is designed. The used synthesis approach has been confirmed with the help of circuit and computer analysis. 展开更多

This paper presents a synthesis of current-mode PI, PD and PID controllers employing current controlled current differential buffer amplifiers (CCCDBAs). The features of these controllers are that: the output parameters can be electronically/independently controlled by adjusting corresponding bias currents in the proportional, integral, and deviation controllers;circuit description of the PID controller is simply formulated, it consists of four CCCDBAs cooperating with two grounded capacitors, and PI and PD controllers are composed of three CCCCDBAs and a grounded capacitor. Without any external resistor, the proposed circuits are very suitable to develop into integrated circuit architecture. The given results from the PSpice simulation agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The approximate power consumption in a closed loop control system consisting of the PI, PD and PID controller with low-pass filter passive plant are 4.03 mW, 4.85 mW and 5.71 mW, respectively, at ±1.5 V power supply voltages. 展开更多

The single fault and multiple fault detections for multiple-valued logic circuits are studied in this paper. Firstly, it is shown that the cardinality of optimal single fault test set for fanout-free m-valued circuits with n primary inputs is not more than n + 1, for linear tree circuits is two, and for multiplication modulo circuits is two if n is an odd number or if n is an even number and m > 3, where the optimal test set of a circuit has minimal number of test vectors. Secondly,it is indicated that the cardinality of optimal multiple fault test set for linear tree circuits with n primary inputs is 1 + [n/(m - 1)], for multiplication modulo circuits is n+ 1, for fanout-free circuits that consist of 2-input linear tree circuits and 2-input multiplication modulo circuits is not greater than n+ 1, where [x] denotes the smallest integer greater than or equal to x. Finally,the single fault location approaches of linear tree circuits and multiplication modulo circuits are presented, and all faults in the two types of circuits can be located by using a test set with n + 1 vectors. 展开更多

This article presents an active-only current-mode universal biquad filter performing three standard functions: low-pass, high-pass and band-pass function, which can be readily modified to achieve the rest functions (band-stop and all-pass). The circuit principle is based on active-only circuit designed by using differentiators which are constructed from current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA) cooperating with an internally frequency compensated operational amplifier (OA). The features of the circuit are that: the pole frequency and quality factor can be independently tuned via the input bias currents and it is ideally temperature-insensitive, its circuit description is very simple, consisting of 3 CCCCTAs and 2 operational amplifiers, and the proposed circuit is very appropriate for further developing into integrated circuit architecture. The PSpice simulation results are shown. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. 展开更多

The proposed filter employs only three MO- CCCCTAs and two grounded capacitors. The proposed filter can simultaneously realize low pass (LP), band pass (BP), high pass (HP), band reject (BR) and all pass (AP) responses in current form by choosing appropriate current output branches. In addition, the pole frequency and quality factor of the proposed filter circuit can be tuned independently and electronically over the wide range by adjusting the external bias currents. The circuit possesses low active and passive sensitivity performance. The validity of proposed filter is verified through PSPICE simulations. 展开更多

A new AB^2 operation in Galois Field GF(24)is presented and its systolic realization based on multiple-valued logic(MVL)is proposed.The systolic structure of the operation employs multiple-valued current mode(MVCM)by using dynamic source-coupled logic(SCL)to reduce the transistor and wire counts,and the initial delay.The performance is evaluated by HSPICE simulation with 0.18.μm CMOS technology.A comparison is conducted between our proposed implementation and those reported in the literature.The transistor counts,the wire counts and the initial delay in our MVL design show savings of about 23%,45%,and 72%,in comparison with the corresponding binary CMOS implementation.The systolic architecture proposed is simple,regular,and modular,well suited for very large scale integration(VLSI)implementation.The combination of MVCM circuits and relevant algorithms based on MVL seems to be a potential solution for high performance arithmetic operations in GF(2^k). 展开更多

First of all,it is shown that one vector detects all skew faults in multiplication modulo circuits or in addi-tion modulo circuits,and n+1 vectors detect all skew faults in the circuit realization of multiple-valued functions with n inputs. Secondly,min(max) bridging fault test sets with n+2 vectors are pre-sented for the circuit realizations of multiple-valued logic functions. Finally,a tree structure is used instead of cascade structure to reduce the delay in the circuit realization,it is shown that three vec-tors are sufficient to detect all single stuck-at faults in the tree structure realization of multiple-valued logic functions. 展开更多

A new universal multiple input multiple output (MIMO) type current-mode biquad employing two dual output current conveyors (DOCCII), one multiple output current controlled current amplifier (MOCCCA) and four passive grounded elements is proposed which can realize all the five basic filtering functions namely, low-pass (LP), high-pass (HP), band-pass (BP), band-stop (BR) and all-pass (AP) in current mode from the same configuration. The centre frequency can be set by the passive elements of the circuit and the quality factor Q0 is electronically tunable through bias currents of the MOCCCA. Therefore, the biquad filter has independent tenability for the and Q0. The active and passive sensitivities of Q0 and are low. A general method for designing ternary circuits using double pass-transistor logic is investigated. The logical relation of each MOS transistor is formulated by using the transmission operation in order to make effective and practical use of the circuits. A way to generate ternary complementary and dual circuits by applying the complementarity and duality principles is presented. This new static ternary double pass-transistor logic scheme has some favorable properties:the use of standard CMOS process without any modification of the thresholds, a perfectly symmetrical structure,a full logic swing, the maximum possible noise margins, a less complex structure, and no static power consumption. HSPICE simulations using TSMC 0.25μm CMOS technology and a 3V power supply demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design. 展开更多
